Cyhilenia’s POV

Two weeks, two and a half days, and five minutes since I had been forcefully thrown into another body, coerced to be the wife of a dreadful Alpha.

Yes, I was counting. I was counting both my sorrows and the encounters that led to my new fate.

Worse still, everything didn’t seem like the way it looked like at first.

I was going to ease my pain by aligning with my new role as the ‘celebrated’ wife of the Almighty Alpha Logan Dorne, but he had other plans.

“If you must remain my Luna, then you have to earn that position…” His words had pierced into my eardrums, causing my heart to quake.

“What does that mean?” I wasn’t certain if I was ready to hear the answer to my question, my throat turning so dry that I had to swallow silently.

“A test, Summer…” He retorted casually, taking a walk toward the stool where he had placed his glass of vodka.”

“Pass the test, and I will give you whatever you want…” He took a sip, turning to me with a wry smile.

“What silly test?” I never imagined that I was going to be subjected to such fate.

“You will find out soon, Summer. But there is only one rule…” He paused, staring to be certain I was still paying attention.

I wished that I wasn’t going to listen to him, but my curiosity had gotten a better part of me.

“You must act like you don’t know me. Live among the other breeders of this ridge, and at the end, I will give you whatever you want…”

Logan looked like he was certain that I wasn’t going to be able to say no to his proposal, staring with a wry smile.

“What if I say no?” I questioned, loving the look I saw on his face.

The Alpha cleared his throat, then he took a deep breath, attempting to shake off the feeling.

“You can’t, Summer…”

I hated that name, but it appeared I had to bear it.

“I was only informing you about your new role. You will be my ears and eyes in the haven, until the ceremony…”

“What ceremony?” I asked, but instead of an answer, Logan walked out on me, holding onto his glass as though his throne depended on it.

“What?

I remained frozen, my mouth agape, my mouth wide open but no words were heard. I could have sworn that I could feel my heart trying to escape from my chest and at that instance, I didn’t know if I was to run away or remain there.

“Who is there?” Came the resonant voice of the man inside as he quickly grabbed his trousers pushing the girl away.

The sight I had seen had made me forget what I was thinking.

“Oh no!” Those were the words that slipped out of my mouth, instantly I turned and ran through the path behind me, and even though I wasn't sure of my destination, getting away from that situation was the only thing that seemed comforting.

“If only you had listened,” I said amidst the tension that emitted from my body as I ran through the hallway panting frantically to the rhythm of my feet.

“I hope that was a joke Ember?” I whisper to my wolf but I can feel the intense passion emitting from within that tried to push me back to the same place I was running away from.

Getting to a corner, I halted and hid behind a tall pillar that stood like a mighty column. My breath was still uncontrollable and my heart hit so hard against my ribs.

Gradually, still struggling to get a grip of myself, I peeped from behind the pillar to see if the man with the deep voice was coming, but the hallway was empty.

For a few seconds, I kept my eyes on the hallway, to make sure that he wasn’t lurking around somewhere, waiting for me to show up before he cut me down.

“MATE! Go, mate!” My wolf Ember cried out, urging me to return to the door but I ignored it instantly.

“MATE! Go, mate!” It echoed from within again.

“Hell no Ember! That’s a no-go area.” I retorted with a loud whisper still trying to maintain a silent posture.

I took in enough air and let it out through my nostrils, making sure that my nerves were clear of every form of tension, at least the ones I could let go of.

A few seconds later, I decided that the coast was clear and that I needed to return to my room before anyone noticed that I was gone.

“It’s ok, Cyhilenia, just tiptoe out of this place. No one knows you are here.” My subconscious self reassured me from within.

Slowly, I started taking a few steps backward while my eyes were still fixed on the hallway just in case the man was looking for me.

“Hello there?” Came the female voice from behind me, forcing me to jerk in intense anxiety. I gasped immediately and turned around only to behold the sight of a girl about my age standing and smiling at me.

“Whoa!”

“Sorry, I startled you, my name is Irene.”

I placed my right hand on my chest as though it was a simulator to calm my nerves, and then I exhaled sharply and closed my eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.

“You seem to be running away from something, someone. What’s your name?”

I looked at the girl with long curly brownish red hair and blue eyes for a few seconds right from the crown of her hair to the sole of her shoes.

She had a blue flowery gown on and the same color of headband tied around her head. Not like they packed her hair but she just kept them there.

“I…I am Cyhilenia.” I said, a few seconds after I had found my missing voice.

“It’s nice to meet you, Cyhilenia. What are you doing here? You know you could be in trouble for wandering right?”

I looked at her with a subtle expression of disbelief. “What the hell are you doing here as well?” I thought but I couldn’t say the words.

“Oh, I wanted to take a moment to catch some air. Also, I heard that the Castile is truly magnificent. This is beyond my imagination.” Irene said with so much excitement.

“How? How did…”

“Oh you mean read your mind? You were too loud.” She responded to the shocked expression in my voice.

“You can read minds?”

“Yes, when the person is close and not consciously trying to block me out. I think it may not work for everyone even though I haven’t seen anyone it didn’t work on.”

I was dumbfounded at once. Looking at the girl who seemed excitedly to be there, I didn’t know what to think about the weird talent that she had.

“We have to leave this place, we didn’t want the Alpha to see us trust me.”

I turned around immediately after Irene had spoken as the thought of the previous situation hit my memory again.

“I heard the Alpha is very ruthless and would make us do the unthinkable if he should see us,” Irene concluded and started to walk away slowly through the hallway by the right.

“Wait!” I whispered loudly as I immediately followed her.

“Do you know where you are going?”

“Oh the hallways are connected, you just have to memorize the segments, just like a maze.”

“Does she read the minds of hallways too?”

“I heard that too.” She said with so much excitement as though she wanted to prove a point.

Gosh! I hated the fact that she could read my mind. I didn’t know how I was going to block her out just as she had said.

CyhileniaOne minute I was dead and the next minute I woke up with the face of another. If it were a rebirth, I would have understood. But this wasn’t. I was sure my face got swapped because my body felt the same.Same scars under the skin. Same aches from the accident.I kept staring at the mirror on the wall adjacent to the bed I laid on. Silver hair, did my hair get dyed?I was wearing Summer Varye’s face. This hospital felt familiar too. It belonged to Dr. Paedyn. But then, she was nowhere to be found. It got worse because my attempt to leave and see my daughter only had me in restraints, with nurses claiming I was going berserk. I’d demanded to see Paedyn at least. But they wouldn’t listen. Rather, they were respectful, claiming I needed to rest my head. Then he showed up and time literally stopped.Logan Dorne. He filled the doorway like a storm that forgot how to be gentle. Tall. Broad shoulders straining the black coat he wore like armor. Dark hair, slightly messy, lik
