“There is only one rule in this marriage… don’t fall in love with me.”

The words hung heavily in the air.

Emma looked up from the cup of tea in her hands, wondering if she had heard him correctly.

Damien stood by the floor to ceiling window of his study, his back to her. Dressed in a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, he looked every bit the powerful billionaire everyone talked about.

Outside, the evening sky was painted with shades of orange and gold.

Inside, the room was sile

“Sir… we’ve reviewed the CCTV footage.” Damien looked up sharply. The head of security stood outside the emergency room, breathing heavily after rushing to the hospital. “What did you find?” Damien asked. The guard swallowed. “The SUV didn’t lose control.” Richard Blackwood frowned. “What are you saying?” The guard handed a tablet to Damien. “We reviewed every camera around the estate.” “The driver deliberately turned the vehicle toward you, Chairman.” Silence fell over the hallway. Richard’s face lost its color. Damien replayed the footage. The black SUV had a clear path to leave through the front gate. Instead… It swerved sharply toward the garden. Toward Richard. Emma had seen it just in time. Without thinking about her own safety, she had pushed Richard away. The SUV struck her instead. Damien’s grip tightened around the tablet. His knuckles turned white. “So it wasn’t an accident,” he said coldly. “No, sir.” “We’ve already infor

“Mrs. Blackwood, don’t go outside!” Emma stopped halfway down the staircase. She turned to the maid. “The young woman is still waiting?” The maid nodded nervously. “Yes, Mrs. Blackwood. Security won’t let her in, but she refuses to leave.” Emma frowned. “I’ll speak to her.” Before she could take another step, Damien’s deep voice echoed through the hall. “No.” Emma turned. He had just walked out of his study, his expression calm as always. “You don’t know who she is,” he continued. “It isn’t safe.” Emma looked at him in surprise. “I’ll only be gone for a minute.” Damien walked toward her. “If someone has business with the Blackwood family, security will handle it.” Emma hesitated before nodding. “Alright.” Damien looked at the head of security. “Find out who she is.” “Yes, sir.” The guard hurried outside. A few minutes later, he returned. “Sir, the woman left.” “Did she give a name?” “No.” Damien’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Check the security cameras and fi

  • THE BRIDE MY STEPSISTER GAVE AWAY   CHAPTER 15: FRONT PAGE WIFE

“Mrs. Blackwood… you’re on the front page of every business newspaper in the country.” The morning sun poured into Emma’s bedroom as she slowly opened her eyes. For the first time since moving into Blackwood Mansion, she had slept peacefully. Last night’s charity gala still lingered in her mind. The elegant ballroom. The flashing cameras. The whispers. And Damien… She smiled faintly as she remembered the way he had stood by her side throughout the evening. A gentle knock interrupted her thoughts. “Mrs. Blackwood?” Margaret called from outside. “I’m awake.” Margaret entered carrying a breakfast tray and several newspapers. “Good morning.” Emma smiled. “Good morning, Margaret.” As Margaret placed the tray on the table, one newspaper slipped onto the floor. Emma bent to pick it up. The moment she saw the front page, her eyes widened. There was a full-page photograph of her and Damien dancing together. The headline read: “THE ICE KING MELTS? DAMIE

The ballroom buzzed with conversation as the orchestra played softly in the background. Emma stood beside Damien, trying not to let the attention around them overwhelm her. Business executives, investors, politicians, and media personalities filled the luxurious hall. Almost everyone seemed to know Damien. “Mr. Blackwood.” A middle-aged businessman approached with a smile. “It’s an honor to finally meet your wife.” Damien nodded politely. “This is Emma.” The man extended his hand. “Mrs. Blackwood, congratulations.” Emma shook his hand with a warm smile. “Thank you.” As the evening continued, Damien introduced Emma to several business partners. She listened more than she spoke. Whenever someone addressed her, she answered politely and confidently. Her calm manners gradually impressed the guests. Not everyone was pleased. Across the room, Vanessa Blackwood watched with narrowed eyes. “I don’t understand,” she muttered to Victor. “She’s supposed to embarrass the fami

“Mr. Blackwood, may I have the honor of introducing myself to your beautiful wife?” The ballroom of the Grand Imperial Hotel glittered beneath enormous crystal chandeliers. It was the annual Blackwood Foundation Charity Gala, attended by the country’s wealthiest business leaders, celebrities, and influential families. Emma stood beside Damien, feeling slightly overwhelmed. She had never imagined she would one day attend an event like this. “You don’t have to look so nervous,” Damien said quietly. Emma glanced at him. “I’m trying not to embarrass you.” “You won’t.” His answer was simple. But somehow, it eased her anxiety. A photographer approached them. “Mr. and Mrs. Blackwood, over here, please.” Damien instinctively placed a hand at the small of Emma’s back, guiding her toward the cameras. Flash! Flash! Flash! The photographers smiled. “Perfect.” “You two look wonderful together.” Emma lowered her eyes shyly. As they entered the ballroom, w

  • THE BRIDE MY STEPSISTER GAVE AWAY   CHAPTER 12: DINNER WITH THE BLACKWOOD

“A woman with no status has no right to bear the Blackwood name.” The words shattered the silence the moment Emma stepped into the grand dining hall. Every eye turned toward her. Her feet froze. The Blackwood family’s dining room was even more magnificent than the rest of the mansion. A long mahogany table stretched across the room beneath glittering crystal chandeliers. More than a dozen members of the Blackwood family were already seated, each dressed in expensive designer clothes. Emma suddenly felt very small. Richard Blackwood looked around the room. “I invited you all here because it’s time you officially meet Damien’s wife.” No one applauded. No one smiled. Instead, they studied Emma from head to toe as if she were an object on display. A middle-aged woman wearing a diamond necklace placed her wine glass on the table. “So…” “This is the woman Damien married?” Her tone dripped with disappointment. Richard’s expression hardened. “Yes.” The woman laughed softly.
