MasukđĽWARNING: THIS BOOK IS FOR 18+ READERSđĽ On our wedding day, my mate betrayed me. For five years, I lived as the Luna no one wanted. He never marked me. Never claimed me. Never even pretended to love me. Still, I stayed. I endured the whispers, the humiliation, the coldness of a mate who treated me like a convenient shadow. I raised his son as my own, believing loyalty would mean something. Until the dead came back. My stepsister returnedâthe same girl who destroyed my childhood. This time, she came for my life. My mate was already in her bed. He marked her without hesitation. And the child I spent years raising? He was never mine. I realized too late that he was Olaine's son, and he choose her too. In a single night, everything I sacrificed became a cruel joke. They chose her. So I ranâfrom the pack that never wanted me, from the betrayal, from the life that was never truly mine. And I found him. Vaelor Blackthorn. My former best friend. The man who vanished from my life years ago, now one of the most dangerous Alphas in the region. Possessive. Dominant. Every glance from him ignites me. He doesn't just want my body, he wants ME. Every touch makes my body betray me. When I give in, itâs electric, consuming, impossible to resist. But desire comes with a price. Every step toward revenge risks losing himâthe man who would burn the world to protect me. Every heartbeat is a war between passion and revenge. I want him. I need him. But I cannot stop. Not yet.

âLuna Vixen,â Beta Mitch bowed breathless. âWe canât find him anywhere.â
The rate of my heartbeat accelerated. My fists tightened around the edge of my white dress.
âWhat do you mean you canât find him? The mating ceremony starts in ten minutes.â
I had no right to be mad at them, not when it wasnât their fault.
But it was the fear that drove the rage, the fear that he would suddenly decide to end the mating ceremony again, after I had waited for five whole years.
âDid you check his office?â My legs were already moving on their own accord.
âHe wasnât there too. Do you want me to send an order to find him?â
My legs stopped moving. The mere thought of the rumors that would follow the news, sent a shudder through me.
An alpha, who ran away from his own mating ceremony. How could I bear that shame?
Turning to him, I met his eyes in the darkness. âKeep it discreet.â
He bowed and left with speed of lightning.
I exhaled, trying to control the hard pounding of my heart.
My wolf, Emmie, trembled with fear, one I tried to hide from the surface.
âDo you think he left? Is he finally going to reject us?â
I swallowed hard, hating how heavy the answer to her question felt on my tongue.
âHe wonât do that. Kael would never desert his son or the pack.â
I dare not put my name there. I had no confidence to claim he wonât desert me. After all, these five years with him had been nothing but cold, he hadnât even marked me.
Tears prickled at the corner of my eyes, I blinked them back. This was no time to be weak.
A sudden gush of wind, brought a scent I didnât think I will smell again.
Emmie jerked in excitement. âMate, heâs around here.â
Relief washed through me like cold water on a hot summer afternoon.
âHeâs here.â I breathed.
Though the scent was faint, it still gave me the last bit of hope to cling unto.
I picked up my long white dress, holding tightly to it, as I ran through the dark clearing, eager to follow the scent before it disappeared on me again.
The pack members were watching, probably wondering why their Luna was running, when she should be getting ready for her night.
But there would be no night, without Kael.
The faster I ran, the more obvious the scent became. The scent that drew me to him from the first day, one I forever long for.
It led me to a garden, at the far end of the pack.
No one visited here anymore, not after the last attack on the pack.
What was he doing here?
I didnât wait to ponder on that, I was more eager to see him, to make sure he was alright.
But as soon as I stepped into the moonlight garden, everything felt wrong.
I caught another scent in the air, strange yet familiar.
My steps slowed, my stomach tightening.
That was impossible, I could be wrong. There was no way it was her scent.
Olaine was dead, for five years now.
However, as I rounded the corner, the world came crashing down on me.
There, beside the fountain was Kael, entangled in hot passion with another woman.
Her head was tilted, her lips slightly open from pleasure, while his head was buried in the crook of her neck.
The scent of sex and betrayal hit me so hard that I gasped, taking a straggling step back.
They didnât hear me, or notice my presence.
Then I saw it, his fangs sliding out of her neck, while his tongue licked away the blood that flowed, all as they maintained the rhythm of their passion.
The hands flew to my lips as the sob tore out.
He didnât just betray me; he marked her also. He didnât mark me for five years, and yet he marked another on the night of our mating ceremony.
I fought to regulate my breathing, but I couldnât even breath properly.
Emmie tears broke the last piece of restraint I had left. âHow could he do this to us? We have only loved him all our lives.â
âKaelâŚâ My voice broke, my body shaking with emotions I dare not name.
For a moment, everything stilled. His eyes slowly lifted to me, and then he pulled away from her with the speed of a thief caught in action.
I was already bleeding deep inside.
âVie⌠IâŚâ
âHow could youâŚ?â But the question died on my lips as soon as my eyes caught sight of the woman with him.
âOlaine.â I staggered from shock.
How is this possible?
Olaine smirked, carefully flipping her long disheveled hair.
âHello stepsister, itâs been a while.â
I am clearly losing my mind. This is a bad dream; it has to be.
âHow⌠how are you alive? we saw your clothes, your body⌠you were torn apart in the woods.â
For a moment, I forgot all about the betrayal before me, or maybe I was having difficulties processing it all.
I would have rushed to her, hugged her in gratitude that she was really alive. I wanted to know how she was alive.
I wanted to ask her if Dad knew she was alive. I would have asked her those questions if the situation was different, right now, all I felt was the pain of watching my husband and sister betray me.
Olaine stepped away from Kael, fixing her dress with a carefree look on her face.
Maybe it was the arrogance on her face, the mocking smirk on her lips as she stepped forward, but I instantly got back to the present.
I looked from Kael to Olaine. I didnât expect any better from Olaine, she had done even worst in the past.
But Kael?
âWhy?â My lips quivered in a futile attempt to let out more words.
Kaelâs eyes narrowed, but he didnât respond. Not at first.
âHow could you do this? You marked another woman, Kael, on the night of our mating ceremony?â
My pulse was rising with each question. I stepped forward, grabbing his shirt with shaky hands.
âI trusted you.â
âVixenâŚâ He trailed off. âThatâs enough.â
Enough? I grip on him tightened. âYou piece of shit, how could you?â
My hand seemed to have a mind of its own. It was only after the sound of slap echoed through the darkness that I realized I just slapped Kael.Olaine lunged at me then, pushing me off Kael. I fell back, barely holding onto the trenches for support.
âWhy are you acting all innocent and betrayed now? Werenât you the problem all along?â She fumed.
I laughed, slow, poisonous, my heart pounding against my ribcage. âThe problem?â
Olaine folded her arms under her chest, her eyes beaming with light I knew too well.
âYou were the reason I had to pretend to be dead for years. You sent men to kill me and married the man I love. How dare you try to act like we wronged you.â
My heart stopped. âWhat?â
~Vixen~Seven Months LaterâLuna, the regional press is inviting you for an interview again.â My new assistant, Alora, said. She passed me the tablet, showing me the email of the invite.I handed it back to her, shaking my head. âTurn it down.âIt was no use going to interviews nowadays. They always asked the same thing. The war from seven months ago. They already knew everything, but just loved to bring it up because it brought thousands of views. With the dome already broken, Vaelor led the fight against the Vanguards and High Magistrate, eventually winning the war.It turned out my magic didn't just shatter the dome, but also weakened the High Councilâs magic.Hearing that the Magistrate had been stripped of his powers, the Royal Enforcers and International Oversight Committee arrived, arresting everybody associated with the High Council. They brought out evidence of their harvesting program, sentencing them to public execution.I still remembered watching as they beheaded them.I
~Vaelor~The victorious smile of the High Magistrate had long vanished. He was shocked and angry when Vie's and I mating bond created a crack on the containment dome. Now they were fixing the crack, desperate not to give us any opening. The containment dome shimmered overhead, a seamless shell of silver light overtaking the sky. Beyond it, the Council's Vanguard Warriors stood in perfect formation with their faceless masks as they poured their magic in repairing the dome.West came to my side, his face crestfallen. âAlpha, we've tried everything. Nothing can pass through it.âMy eyes went to the warriors at the border, trying to shoot through the dome.âDid you think modern weapons can match ancient magic? Those things are useless.âHe bowed. âWe await orders from you, Alpha.âI gestured to the truck behind my car. âI brought magical artifacts with me.The warriors whose wolves have weak powers should take them.â My eyes went to the Vanguards fixing the dome. âTheir backbone is magic,
~Vaelor~I returned to the mansion before the sun rose, placing the collar around Vie's neck as she slept.Returning to my personal office, I began to make plans on how to get Vie out of this pack. While I find ways to defeat the council, she must remain safe.As the sun eventually rose, it felt like trouble was rising alongside it.West barged into the office, worry written over his face.âAlpha, they're here.âI didn't need to ask who he was referring to.His expression said it all. They came way earlier than expected. It wasn't even up to forty eight hours.âHow large is their army?â I inquired.âA hundred.âMy brows furrowed. âJust a hundred?âWest nodded. âThey don't seem here to fight or negotiate. They're gathered at the pack's border, building some dome.âThe Broker told me last night that the council's elite advance force was going to be deployed if things escalated. They were an army of faceless silver masked warriors. These were not ordinary warriors. They are the first wav
~Vaelor~Adjusting my hooded cloak, I left the mansion through the hidden creaking back gate. The night wind made cloak billow behind me as I walked quickly towards the car I hired.I entered the car, the driver staring at me through the rearview mirror. He bowed slightly. âIt's an honor to meet you again, AlphaâââAt this moment I'm not your Alpha,ââ I quickly cut him off. âI can be addressed by my former title.ââAs you wish, The Shadow.âThe Shadow.Hearing that name again brought memories that ought to be long forgotten. But just this once, just tonight, I was going to welcome those memories. I was going to answer my old title before I became Alpha.I looked at the mansion. Not even West knew my whereabouts.I've done everything to draw a line between my past and present, but now I was crossing that line myself.I turned back to the driver. âHurry up, let's move.âI had to return before Vie noticed I was gone. The ride to the Coven was shorter than I expected, maybe it was because
