Sera’s POV

The silence in the grand hall of the Pack House was thick enough to choke me. Hundreds of eyes pinned me in place, but the only gaze that mattered belonged to the man standing on the elevated stage under the glowing light of the full moon.

Alpha Lupus Kai.

He stood tall, his powerful frame radiating absolute dominance. His expression was cold as stone, his piercing blue eyes fixed somewhere beyond me, as if I was not even there. Weeks ago, those same eyes looked at me with warmth. Now, he looked like a stranger wearing the face of the man I used to love.

"Lupus," I whispered, though my voice was drowned out by the tense murmurs of the pack.

For weeks after he marked me, he had been growing distant. I thought it was just the stress of running the pack. I never imagined it would lead to this. To my ultimate humiliation in front of everyone I knew.

My eyes flickered to the front row of the crowd, landing on my parents. My mother's lips trembled. My father's eyes practically begged me to stay silent, to walk away quietly. Their silent plea was screaming at me. Don't do this. Don't make a scene.

But I had already made up my mind. I would not hide.

Lupus stepped forward, his voice booming through the room. Sharp. Commanding. Enough to make the entire crowd freeze.

"Do not look at me like that, Sera. You knew what this was."

"What do you mean, what this was?" I forced my voice to carry across the quiet hall, refusing to let my hands shake. "You marked me. You claimed me in front of the pack. You told me I was yours."

"That was before," he said simply, his voice echoing off the walls without a shred of remorse. "Things have changed."

"Changed how?" The hurt in my chest turned into a raging fire. "Is it because of Angela?"

His jaw tightened. His eyes flashed sharp as ice. "Do not start this here."

"No, you will listen to me this time." I took a step closer to the stage, clenching my fists. "You cannot just shut me out. You cannot pretend I do not exist. I am your mate, Lupus. Or does the Moon Goddess's bond mean nothing to you now?"

A small, humorless chuckle escaped his lips. "Mate?" he repeated mockingly. "Sera, you are an omega. You were never supposed to be Luna. I only took you because my parents thought it would calm the tension between our families. Do not mistake duty for love."

Gasps rippled through the pack like a wave. The word omega felt like a physical slap. My heart ached so badly it was hard to breathe, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break.

"You are cruel, Lupus." I glared up at him. "You have changed. You used to be kind. Now you are just power hungry and heartless."

"Enough, Sera. I do not need your lectures." His alpha aura flared, filling the room with suffocating dominance. "I am Alpha. I do not owe you explanations. Angela is the right choice for the pack. She is strong, well bred, and knows what being Luna means. She will not question my authority every second like you do."

He did not even deny it. He was choosing her. In front of everyone.

"And what about love, Lupus?" I whispered, my voice trembling. "Does that mean nothing to you?"

He looked down at me from the stage, his expression completely heartless. "Love does not build empires."

That was the moment something inside me shattered completely. The bond thrashed in agony inside my chest. But as the pain ripped through me, it began to harden into something entirely new. Something fierce.

Lupus took a deep breath, locking his piercing gaze onto mine before the entire pack.

"I, Alpha Lupus Kai, reject you, Sera Ashford, as my mate and Luna," he declared firmly.

The words sliced through the air like a blade. For a moment, the entire world went silent. My wolf howled in pure torment inside my mind, but I forced the tears back. I lifted my chin, looked him dead in the eyes, and met his fierce stare.

"I, Sera Ashford, accept your rejection, Alpha Lupus."

More gasps erupted from the crowd. Shame and fury burned inside me, but I kept my posture perfect. The moment the words left my mouth, the bond snapped completely. Lupus's expression flickered for just a fraction of a second. Something like a flash of regret passed through his eyes, but it vanished before anyone else could see it.

"Good," he said flatly. "Now get out. Angela and I will be announced as Alpha and Luna at the next full moon. Do not embarrass yourself by showing up."

A bitter, sarcastic laugh escaped my lips. "Do not worry, Alpha." My voice echoed clearly for everyone to hear. "I would not dream of it. I will not stay where I am not wanted."

I turned on my heel and began the long walk down the center aisle of the grand hall. I left behind the pack, the title, and the man who thought he could define my worth. My parents watched me with tear filled eyes, but I did not stop. I pushed open the heavy outer doors and stepped into the cool night air.

My legs shook. My vision blurred as the tears finally escaped. But I kept moving, disappearing into the darkness of the forest. Behind me, the pack house faded away, and with every step I took into the woods, the crippling pain turned into a burning vow.

He may have rejected me tonight, but he also freed me.

I lifted my face to the high moon, wiping the tears away for the last time.

"I will rise again," I whispered into the wind. "You will see, Lupus. You will pay for this. I give you my word."

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    The First Flame

Sera's POV I woke up screaming, and not from a nightmare. My hands were on fire. Golden flames curled around my fingers like something hungry. I scrambled backward across the floorboards, heart slamming against my ribs, waiting for the burn that never came. The fire should have turned my skin to ash. Instead it felt heavy and warm, almost like an embrace. "What's happening to me?" The flames flickered and died as quickly as they'd come. No burns. No scars. Just the faint smell of smoke clinging to my skin like it had always lived there. The fire is awakening, Lira said. The Phoenix rises. Phoenix. The word echoed in my skull, foreign and heavy. I'd heard the old whispers as a child, stories about a bloodline that could summon fire from its own destruction. I'd never believed any of it was real. Now it was under my skin. I stumbled to the basin in the corner and looked down at water that didn't show me anymore. My eyes had changed. The steady gold brown was gone, replaced with

Lupus’s POVThe morning after Sera's scent vanished completely from the pack grounds, the air inside my chambers felt suffocating. It was a heavy, tense quiet.I stood before the large window overlooking the training fields, hands clenched behind my back. Every single sound irritated me. The heavy footsteps of the warriors drilling outside. The chatter of the omegas cleaning the hallways. Even the soft breathing of Angela as she slept in my bed.No matter how hard I tried to shake it off, I could not. The image of Sera walking out of the grand hall, proud, defiant, and refusing to show a single ounce of pain, haunted my every thought. My wolf, Kain, paced restlessly in my mind. You should not have rejected her that way, he growled, his voice clawing at my sanity.I ignored him.You cannot silence me, Alpha. You hurt our mate."She was never meant to be my Luna," I muttered under my breath to the empty room. And yet, you cannot stop thinking about her, Kain snarled back. Before I could

  • THE REJECTED LUNA’S RISE    The Broken Bond

Sera's POVBy the time I reached the pack border, the guards stared but did not stop me. They had already heard what happened. Of course they did. News travels faster than the wind in a pack full of gossiping wolves. Their eyes said everything their mouths refused to: shame, pity, and disgust.I walked past them with my head held high, pretending their stares did not burn. But inside, I was breaking. Every step toward my family home felt heavier than the last. My heart whispered one painful thing over and over again. He did not even hesitate. When I finally arrived, I stopped at the front door. My hands trembled as I pushed it open. The warm scent of wood smoke and my mother's cooking filled the air, but it brought no comfort this time. It only reminded me of the one thing I had completely lost. Belonging. The door creaked, and my mother turned immediately. Her eyes were already red. She had been crying. She had seen everything. They both had."Sera..." she whispered, her voice breaki

Lupus’s POVThe moment the heavy outer doors slammed shut behind Sera, the suffocating silence that followed was heavier than any roar of battle.I stood on the elevated stage, staring at the empty center aisle where she had just walked away. My chest burned with a strange mixture of fury and something raw that I could not name. The murmurs of hundreds of pack members drifted through the grand hall, but to my ears, the room was entirely deafening. Her scent still lingered faintly in the air. Soft. Familiar. Painfully haunting.Unable to take the staring crowd or the judgmental whispers of the elders any longer, I turned on my heel, left the stage, and marched straight back to my private chambers. The second the door clicked shut, the mask of the unbothered Alpha slipped. I slammed my fist against the stone wall. The sound cracked through the room, and the masonry shattered under the force."She defied me," I muttered, my voice tight. "She actually defied me."I was the Alpha of the Do
