The SUV slowed down after a twenty minutes.

"We're here," the driver said.

I looked outside, noticing that the dining room light was on. My aunt was still up.

Emmett opened the door and stepped out, holding it open for me. I moved to climb out, but hesitated.

"The collar." I said, looking up at him. My fingers brushed the silver crescent. "Can I... take it off?"

Both brothers looked at me.

"Not that I don't want anyone to know about this.. just... my aunt has an... opinion about Moon Jewels."

  • The Alpha Twins Moon Jewel   7. Welcome home

The SUV slowed down after a twenty minutes."We're here," the driver said.I looked outside, noticing that the dining room light was on. My aunt was still up.Emmett opened the door and stepped out, holding it open for me. I moved to climb out, but hesitated. "The collar." I said, looking up at him. My fingers brushed the silver crescent. "Can I... take it off?"Both brothers looked at me."Not that I don't want anyone to know about this.. just... my aunt has an... opinion about Moon Jewels.""You didn't tell her about tonight." Emmett said, his brow lifting. "You do realize that the entire country will know about this first thing in the morning? We aren't exactly the most unknown werewolves.""By then," I bit my lower lip. "I'm hoping she'll already be in the hospital for surgery."Emmett looked at Rafe, seeming to be communicating with him silently. He looked back at me."You can't take it off," Emmett answered gently. "It can only be removed by one of us.""Oh.""I'd rather you di

  • The Alpha Twins Moon Jewel   6. The burdens we share

The drive was silent. Not necessarily awkward, just... quiet. Processing. The city lights blurred past the tinted windows of the black SUV as I sat in the backseat between the two alpha werewolves. Alpha werewolves who were now mine, or maybe I was theirs. I still hadn't figured out which one felt more frightening.I stared out the window, watching familiar streets pass by. We were getting closer to home, and I could feel my stomach twisting itself into knots at the thought of facing my aunt. I knew she was still awake. She always waited up for me.How was I supposed to explain any of this? The collar around my neck suddenly felt heavier.Would she even agree to the surgery when she found out where the money came from?I frowned. Wait. Would there even be money?I looked down at my hands. I'd assumed that... No, I'd hoped... but the twins had never actually promised me anything yet. For all I knew, they weren't planning to give their Moon Jewel anything at all. I might have given myse

  • The Alpha Twins Moon Jewel   5. The choice

The hall had fallen into an uncomfortable silence as both werewolves and vampires awaited my decision. Vampires leaned forward, crimson eyes narrowed. Werewolves tapped their fingers against the armrests of their chairs impatiently. The announcer folded his hands behind his back, no longer having anything to say. He had done his job. He advertised me, exceptionally, and got three very important supernaturals to stand up for me. It was all in my hands now.But this choice... it was so big. Ten minutes on stage felt so little to decide. This was my future we were talking about. My happiness, freedom, and peace rested on this very moment.I looked toward Lord Valentin Sinclair. He hadn't moved. His eyes rested on mine with a practiced patience. Not once had he smiled or tried to persuade me further to choose him. He only waited, as if he had always been the clear choice.Having him as my Chosen might benefit me. He was calm, and he seemed fair enough. Though, I'd heard passing stories

  • The Alpha Twins Moon Jewel   4. Three men stood

"Are you ready to go on stage?" Taking a deep breath, I looked at the older lady who had escorted me into the club. She picked up a cream-colored card with my information and slowly slid her pen into her grey suit jacket."How can anyone be ready for something like this?" I asked softly, watching the males. They were all so intense, making the entire room feel hot and cold at the same time. One of the werewolves laughed loudly, slapping the back of the male next to him. He received a rough punch in return."Well, just think about the reason why you're here. That usually motivated the other girls." She looked down at the card. "Let's just verify your information one last time. Accuracy matters.""Alright.""Yasmin Jacobs. Twenty-one years old."I nodded. Her eyes scanned lower. For the briefest moment, she paused and then spoke. "Is your blood type accurate? Did you get it tested?""Yeah."She nodded and continued. "Excellent health. Open to consideration from both vampires and werewo

    - One month later -"You're seriously not going?"I didn't even look up from the tray I was carrying. "Nope."Maya followed beside me as I moved between tables."You didn't even think about it?""I thought about it.""And?""And my answer is still no."She sighed dramatically. "You're unbelievable."I placed a glass of water in front of a customer and turned back to her. "I'm not having this conversation while I'm working.""You're saying that like we haven't had this conversation three times already. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, one that's nearly impossible to get."I sighed, even though I knew she wasn't wrong. The Choosing had been all anyone talked about for weeks. Not just at the restaurant, but everywhere. It was a major event in the supernatural world.Carefully selected humans who wanted to become Moon Jewels or Blood Jewels could attend. Werewolves and vampires looking for companions could express interest. The human made the final choice."I don't belong there. I d

  • The Alpha Twins Moon Jewel   2. The woman with the collar

The issue with seeing something every single day was that eventually you stopped seeing it.That was how the world with supernaturals worked.A vampire walked into a restaurant, and nobody screamed.People stopped screaming whenever a vampire walked into a room, and nobody ran when a werewolf sat close enough to hear you.A woman wearing a Moon or Blood Jewel collar could now walk past you in a shopping mall, and you wouldn't stop to stare. Not because they weren't extraordinary. They were, but extraordinary became ordinary when you lived around it long enough.I had grown up knowing vampires and werewolves existed. Everyone had. They had their territories, their companies, and their complicated politics. They owned buildings that reached the clouds and restaurants where humans like me served their meals. They were powerful and wealthy. Most importantly, they were not my problem. At least, they weren't supposed to be."You're staring."I looked away from the woman at table seven.Maya
