Ambrose’s POV

I sighed deeply, running my fingers through my chin as my carriage moved through the cold field that led to the council hall.

Two days ago, I got this news and evidence from Amanda. I sent a letter to the council containing most of my claims and an emergency meeting was scheduled.

And that’s where I was headed.

Thor sat beside me, silent the entire journey with his eyes stuck outside the little window. The evidence bag sat by my feet and I couldn’t stop looking at it.

All that

Amanda’s POVThe days that followed were a breeze. I felt much lighter than I’d felt in days since I came clean about Kattie’s presence in the estate. I expected that he’d be furious and turn the place inside out, but the calmness that he hit me with left me speechless, I almost didn’t believe he was being cool with her being in his territory. A soft knock on my door pulled me back from my train of thought and my head whipped towards the door. “Who’s there?” I asked, adjusting my dress. The door pushed open and Nyra walked in, holding a tray of a steaming bowl of soup and some water. “Good morning my lady, the healer instructed that you take this..” she said, placing the tray down in front of me. My eyes twitched and I gasped softly, “Claret is back?” I asked and Nyra nodded. “His majesty called her in to have a word with her regarding the poison accusation. I don’t know the details of how she’ll be working henceforth, but all I know is she’s back and she asked that you be given

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 61: Easy Confession

Ambrose’s POV She shifted against the wall so she could use it as a support to keep her head up. I still couldn’t believe that the weak lady before me was actually Jane that walked around the castle with so much prowess. I walked closer to her, just so I could hear her voice that was barely louder than a whisper. Thor and the other guards stayed as quiet as possible so they could listen in on the conversation. “It all started when Amanda…”“You will refer to her as the Luna.” I cut in. “It all started when the Luna arrived here. I was jealous and I felt threatened by her because I never thought you’d bring home another woman after everything I put you through…” she let out a slow breath like even that was a difficulty. “And when you marked her before the pack and the moon goddess, I knew that things were getting real so I journeyed to the Moonstone pack.” She explained. I nodded, urging her to get to the part that actually mattered. She exhaled. “While digging up dirt on her, I

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 60: Dungeon

Ambrose’s POV I stayed quiet while I listened to Amanda tell me everything there is to know about the situation at hand and how Mary White, the alleged hero, has been found by Thor. “Thor knows about this?” I growled feeling a bit betrayed but her hands immediately covered my fists, causing all the anger to melt away. “He just found out a few days ago.” She smiled wryly. “And he didn’t want to keep it from you but I begged him and promised that it would benefit you in the end…. Please don’t reprimand him for this.” She muttered, her voice as soft as butter. I nodded, my brain already working on the perfect plan. Duncan had bitten more than he can chew and insulted me despite the fact that I am his king. It is time to deal with him for good.“Firstly, bring Kattie into the main castle. I won’t guarantee that she will escape punishment when all this is over but at least for now, she is in my good graces.” I explained.Amanda nodded. She didn’t say a word but I noticed the flicker of

Ambrose’s POVMy eyes trailed to Amanda’s face and I could see all the questions she had to ask about this strange woman that she had never seen before. “Amanda.” I exhaled as softly as my voice could manage. “If it’s not so urgent, let’s have this conversation later.” I suggested. She nodded, a frown disfiguring the features of her perfect face. “Of course, your majesty.” She replied and hearing her refer to me as your majesty pricked my heart. I watched her walk out the door as quickly as possible and then my eyes returned to the lady in front of me, my eyes narrowing in impatience.“Last time I was here, you were smitten with the old beta’s daughter. And now look at you staring at a feline from the Moonstone pack with so much love.” She sighed shaking her head in disappointment. “What happened to you? The mighty Alpha king?” I sucked my teeth immediately. “You and I both know what Jane put me through and you would be shocked to hear the things she has done after that.” “But I l

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 58: Strange Visitor

Amanda’s POVMy eyes lit up with pure excitement as those words rang in my ears and I grinned from ear to ear. “You’re not joking now, are you?” I asked again, just to be sure. “I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t sure, my lady.” He responded, “Mary White wasn’t as difficult to find as I thought she would..” he said and I nodded. “So when did you leave Jane’s chamber without the king’s knowledge?” I asked again and Thor shrugged. “It wasn’t easy, seeing that he was already very furious and had his eyes on everything and everyone. But I knew I had to take advantage of this time to try and pick up on where I left off on my search, and so I took the slightest opportunity I found to slip away unnoticed..” All that explanation just went in one ear and escaped through the other. The only thing that really mattered to me was the fact that the healer has been found. “And did you speak to her? Did you tell her about Kattie?” I asked and he nodded. “I told her all she needed to know,” his fac

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 57: Peace Treaty

Amanda’s POV “What are you talking about?” Lord Edgar asked, his voice cracking. Ambrose despite how pissed he was, took his time to explain all our findings to him and the increased shock in Lord Edgar’s eyes was more than satisfying.“But still Ambrose, think about our relationship over the years and tamper justice with mercy.” He said, still in obvious disbelief.Ambrose scoffed. It was the first time I’d ever seen him be so careless with his manners around the old Beta, that’s how much he respected him. I guessed the last straw had finally been broken.“Your daughter won’t be receiving any form of mercy from me Lord Edgar.” Ambrose spat, his tone dense. Then he turned to Thor, who was still scanning the room like he was searching for the next thing Jane had stolen. It was so much that it left me completely speechless, and all I could think was, what did she even need this for? Was she planning to sell it?Or was she going to plant it in my room and try to frame me again? She’s

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 5: Rejected Again

Amanda's POV “No! You belong to me!” Duncan yelled, his voice cutting through the air. His eyes were pale, lids barely open, a sign that he was still suffering from the weakness my rejection caused. I sat there, too stunned to speak and too weak to even move. How could the alpha king be my mate? W

Amanda's POV I began to run without needing to be told. With all the men walking toward Duncan’s room, I knew that staying in the pack would be my undoing. Every step felt heavy with urgency, my heart hammering in my chest as adrenaline burned through my veins.“Because I kept you by my side all t

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 3: Done With the Pack

Amanda's POV “What did you just say?” Duncan demanded, finally standing from the bed, hastily dressing as if the words I had just spoken had jolted him out of the spell Kattie had wrapped him in. Even Kattie froze, eyes wide in shock. Before, I had always clung to Duncan, never wanting to let him

  • The Alpha Who Couldn't Forget   Chapter 2: I Accept My Rejection

Amanda's POV I walked toward Duncan’s door, determined to meet him. There were so many things I needed to discuss, countless questions I had and I couldn’t simply stay back in my room and listen anymore. I was not going to allow him to get away with this without an actual explanation.“I'm sorry,
