LOGINPOV: Selina
“I will not stand here and banter words with you, and I’m certainly not letting you get your greedy, filthy hands on my precious necklace. This is all I have left, and I’d rather die than give it to you!” I told her sternly, glaring daggers at her.
“Well, if death is what you seek, that can be arranged, Lina. After all, that was the plan initially. You were supposed to be taken back to our room where some guys were going to take turns to screw you and have it all recorded and forwarded to me. You were supposed to be killed last night, and if I had the chance, I’d fucking kill you myself.
But Dad wants you alive until he can get his hands on all the money in the bank. Once we have everything, then I will gladly grant your wish and end your pathetic life!” she let out furiously, glaring daggers at me.
“You already stole the company, the house, and my fucking boyfriend. This jewelry is all I have left because I can’t access the money in the bank until I’m married. You should have thought of that clause in the will before stealing my boyfriend. I will never let you get your hands on this necklace or my money.
You’ll have to kill me first to get it!” I told her firmly, glaring daggers at her for a few minutes before turning to the guards that had been standing there listening to us fight about money and prestige. I guess they must be used to these kinds of struggles among the rich people that they have to deal with every day because they did not interfere or even try to stop us.
“I think there has been a misunderstanding about my necklace, gentlemen. This is a gift from my mother, and it is very important to me. If you can take me to the Alpha, I’ll be glad to explain this to him personally,” I told them, smiling warmly.
“That is a lie; she is a thief and we caught her. It is our duty to our Alpha and to this pack to bring her to the Alpha,” Aunt Vera let out sternly, her glare fixed on me. She signaled Jackie, and she pulled out her phone and played a short clip for her to watch.
I stared at the screen in disbelief as I saw myself acting silly at our wedding party. It’s obvious that I was drunk as hell. They got me drunk and took pictures and videos of me flirting and making out with different men. It was so bad that I hugged myself in shame, feeling disgusting.
“There is more where this came from, dear sister. We have a video of you and a man in a room,” she let out mockingly, winking at me before turning off the phone and glaring dangerously at me. I fell to my knees, sobbing hysterically. It was at this moment that I realized that they had set me up in the room with that stranger who stole my innocence. Not only did they steal my house and company from me, but they set me up to lose the most precious thing to me: my virginity.
They say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and now I need to unleash my fury so I can move on with my life. In my heart, I have no family anymore. Every one of them is dead to me; I do not wish to be associated with them, and I’ll be damned if I let them steal anything else from me through blackmail.
“I will make you regret everything you ever did to me, and I will get back what is mine. That is a fucking promise!” I let out fiercely, smirking evilly as I thought of all the wicked things I wanted to do to her.
“Take off the necklace and admit that you are a common thief, else I’m posting your pictures and videos everywhere on the Internet.” She threatened proudly, stretching her hands to receive the necklace from me.
“Go to hell, Jackie, and take your boyfriend with you. Screw you, and screw him too!” I let out firmly as I turned towards the guards and let them lead me to the Alpha.
“YOU STUBBORN WENCH!” she yelled furiously and threw her purse at my back, aiming for my head. I had no idea what was happening until someone pushed me out of the way and the purse flew past my head, missing me by a split second. I looked at my savior, and I had no idea who he was, but all the guards seemed to be afraid of him, and they looked at him with respect.
“Ma’am!
It’s you!
Our boss has been searching for you everywhere!” he let out in surprise, breathing in relief.
“You have to come with me, ma’am; it’s very important,” he urged me, sounding urgent.
“Your aura is strong; who are you?” Richard asked him, staring at him curiously. He turned to Richard with a glare, looking at him as if he were not important to him. One of the guards whispered something to him that made him look down at my necklace, and his eyes widened in shock as he looked at me strangely, as if I were a fucking goddess that he had to worship.
“I am someone you don’t want to mess with, Sentinel Richard!” he responded to him, addressing him with authority like a fucking child. I felt his aura at that moment, and I realized that he was doing it on purpose, letting off his aura to subdue everyone in his presence. Everyone bowed their heads in respect… Everyone, except me.
For some weird reason, I wasn’t subdued by his aura, and I thought it would infuriate him and make him change his mind about saving me. But it only made him smile as he led me to the elevator, taking me to the top floor of the Alpha’s packhouse that no one in my family had ever stepped into.
“Thanks for saving me and taking me away from those people. But… W… Who are you?” I asked him curiously as the elevator went up.
“My name is Alvin, and I am the Alpha’s Gamma,” he told me proudly, smiling warmly at me. I wanted to make small talk and ask him why his boss had been looking for me, but something tells me that his boss may be the Alpha. I mean, the Gamma works for the Alpha, right?
If that’s true, then why the hell does the Alpha want to see me? What have I done?
I felt nervous despite the smile on Gamma Alvin's face, and I think he noticed it too because he kept chuckling softly as if he was enjoying my discomfort. We got to the top floor, and that only made me more nervous because everyone knows that this floor belongs to the Alpha. I turned to Alvin, and he had this stupid smirk on his face that did nothing to ease my nervousness at all. He pushed the door open and gestured for me to go in.
I walked in feeling so nervous, waiting to hear the Alpha yell at me for having a necklace that looks like his family heirloom, or maybe he’ll scold me for causing a scene at his party. I stood in the middle of the room, refusing to sit down until I’ve seen the Alpha. I was still standing when someone grabbed me roughly from behind and cuddled me to his chest like a baby, holding me like a fragile child.
“Hello, Tiger, why did you leave me like that and then come back looking so fucking sexy and sweet? Are you trying to drive me insane with lust? Do you realize that I have missed and yearned for you all day?” he asked in a hoarse tone that made my toes curl. I would recognize that voice anywhere. It’s him; it’s the same guy I spent the night with.
“Wait, is he the Alpha?” I asked in my mind as I turned to him and gasped in shock, my eyes looking right into his as he stared at me lustfully. God, he smells so fucking amazing, and I found myself squeezing my legs shut to curb my desires.
Damn, I’m burning for this guy!
I’m so fucking horny. The other guys left the room to carry out his orders and ensure everything is ready for the party. I was left alone with him as he cuddled me warmly. Then the weirdest thing happened when he spoke to me, making my eyes go wide immediately.
“I told you I was going to find you, didn’t I?” he teased, kissing my lips softly.
“Now, I’m supposed to ask you who you are and how you got into my room last night?
But I don’t fucking care; I just want to hold you in my arms and kiss your soft lips all day and all night long,” he confessed and brought his lips down to mine.
POV: Edmond"What did you tell him?""That things were moving forward." She opened her eyes and looked at me sideways, that look she had, the one that landed somewhere in the center of my chest."It wasn't a lie." I looked at her for a moment."No," I said."It wasn't a lie, and it’s not the truth either."“He’s not strong enough to handle the truth. If he knows we are no longer together, he may be forced to withdraw into his shell and slow down his recovery. I can’t bear it if his treatment fails again. I need him to recover faster so we can get back out inheritance,” she stated firmly.“He will be fine, Lina. I will not let anything stop his healing progress, I won’t ...”“Thats the problem, Eddie. He trust you so much and it’s going to break his heart when he finds out the truth. I can’t let him find out, that’s why I need you to stay away from us. If you keep coming here and your grandfather finds out about your secret visits, we’ll get in trouble again, and this time, Jason will
POV: EdmondSaturday was supposed to be simple. I had a full morning of calls scheduled, a lunch with the board that had been rearranged three times and could not reasonably be rearranged a fourth, and an afternoon that belonged entirely to the stack of contracts sitting on my desk judging me quietly every time I walked past.I knew Selina went to the farmer's market on Saturdays. Not the large one downtown that everyone knew about. The smaller one on Whitfield Street, three blocks from her building, the one that set up between the old library and the dry cleaner with the faded yellow sign. She had mentioned it once, months ago, in a conversation that had no reason to stick in my memory as firmly as it had. She had said the tomatoes there were the only ones worth buying in this city, and she had said it with the particular conviction she reserved for things she considered non-negotiable.I had cancelled the lunch with the board by nine-thirty. I told Marcus it was a conflict. He had l
POV: EdmondIt was the groceries that finally broke me. I had been driving past on a Tuesday morning, the fourteen-minute route, traffic lights cooperating for once in a way that felt almost cruel, and I had seen her.Not just a glimpse this time. She was standing outside a corner shop two blocks from her building, juggling three bags that were clearly too heavy, trying to get her keys out of her pocket without dropping everything, and she was losing the battle spectacularly.I was past her before my brain finished processing the image. I circled the block. I told myself I was just making sure she was fine. I told myself I would keep driving if she had managed the bags. I told myself a lot of things in the forty seconds it took to come back around. She had made it approximately six steps from the shop door and was now crouched on the pavement attempting to repack a bag that had given up entirely, canned goods rolling gently toward the gutter.I pulled over, I was out of the car before
POV: EdmondThree weeks.Twenty-three days, to be exact. I had counted every single one of them like a man serving a sentence, which was exactly what this was, a fucking sentence. It’s a cage dressed up in expensive furniture and a woman who smiled too wide at dinner and called me ‘darling’ in front of staff who didn’t care either way.Alexia had redecorated the east wing guest room. That was where she slept, because that was the only room in this house I had made available to her. She had complained once, loudly, dramatically, with tears that dried suspiciously fast the moment she realized I wasn’t watching. I had stood in the doorway of the master bedroom, looked at her, and said with complete calm,“You wanted a husband just to be a wife, didn’t you?Well, congratulations wifey, you got a last name, you are a wife to a total stranger. Don’t push it, don’t make me take my anger out on you. Enjoy your title and status while it lasts.” I told her, shutting the door in her face. She h
POV: SelinaThe cold of the marble island bled through my thin dress, a shock against the back of my thighs that made me gasp. Edmond didn’t move. His hands stayed at my waist, fingers splayed, thumbs pressing into the ridge of my hip bones with a pressure that was almost punitive.“Alexia’s husband,” I said, the words tasting like copper.“That’s what you are now.” You could see the sadness and pain in my eyes, the thought alone upsets me. His jaw tightened. A muscle flickered at the corner of his mouth.“Don’t.” He warned me.“Don’t what?Say it out loud?” I scoffed. My fingers were still laced behind his neck. I could feel the heat of his skin through his collar, the dampness at his hairline from the stress of the day.“You married her, Edmond. You stood there and let that vile old man put her hand in yours and you said...”“I said what I had to say.” His voice was so quiet it was barely a vibration in the air between us.“That I accept her as my wife?Come on, my love, you know I
POV: SelinaThe drive back to my apartment was quiet. Jason had fallen asleep almost immediately after we settled him in the backseat, his head resting against the window, chest rising and falling in the steady rhythm of someone finally at peace after too much chaos. I sat beside him, one hand resting on his arm, watching the city blur past the glass.Edmond drove, he didn’t say a word, neither did I. But every few minutes, his eyes would find mine in the rearview mirror, and something unbearable would pass between us, the kind of thing that didn’t need words, the kind of thing that hurt worse because of it.“He may be your husband, Alexia, but I own his heart.” I had said it, and I had meant every syllable. But somewhere between that grand exit and this suffocating silence, the weight of what those words actually meant had crashed down on me. He was married, not almost, not in some vague, complicated way that left room for interpretation. He had signed the papers. Alexia’s ring was s
POV: Selina"Don't worry, sweetheart. You were just a little tipsy last night. But trust me, we had fun, dear. So much fun," he said nonchalantly, his eyes wandering over my body hungrily. My heart pounded in my chest as I struggled to process his words.Fun? Was that what he called it? My mind ra
POV: Edmond“You don’t mean that, Gramps! You are just saying that to annoy me,” I said sternly.“You know more than anyone that I don’t joke about issues concerning this family. If she stays, then your brothers stay too!” He told me pointedly, his sharp jawline set to suit his anger. I looked back
POV: Zoey“You just dug your own grave, Zee. I will make you pay for this humiliation!” Richard texted me a few minutes after they left the party. I read his message and scoffed within me, enjoying my first taste of revenge. I can imagine him pacing my sitting room in anger, cursing and swearing at
POV: Edmond“I’m so sorry, Eddie. I messed up last night. I couldn’t get the surrogate to come. She suddenly changed her mind and called off the deal.”“What the fuck are you talking about? Who canceled what deal? Are you drunk, Chris? Is it not too early to be drunk?” I asked him, almost laughing
