POV: Selina

"Don't worry, sweetheart. You were just a little tipsy last night. But trust me, we had fun, dear. So much fun," he said nonchalantly, his eyes wandering over my body hungrily.

My heart pounded in my chest as I struggled to process his words.

Fun?

Was that what he called it? My mind raced with doubts and questions, my body trembling with a mix of fear, guilt, and shame.

"No, this can't be happening. I didn't want this. I didn't consent to this," I whispered, my voice breaking with emotion. The man's smile faltered slightly, his expression turning cold and indifferent.

"Come on, sweetheart. Don't be like that. Of course, you consented to this; you even begged for more. You enjoyed it, trust me. Now sign this nondisclosure contract, and we can commence our relationship, and maybe we can go one more round before getting ready for my party," he insisted, moving closer to me with that same predatory glint in his eyes, wanting to seduce me and hopefully get me back to bed again.

I backed away instinctively, my mind reeling with a sense of betrayal and violation. This wasn't how my wedding night was supposed to be. This wasn't the happy ending I had dreamed of.

It’s so funny how all the love and trust I had felt for my husband evaporated like a wisp of smoke. In his absence, I was left vulnerable and exposed. And this stranger, this predator, is making me feel loved and desired—something I have never felt since I lost my mom.

The fact that he is being cocky about it is getting on my last nerve. I still can’t believe that I’d freely given my innocence to a stranger, and I fucking enjoyed it. I clenched my fists, my eyes blazing with a newfound resolve. I may have been naive and trusting, but I refused to let this man take away my dignity and self-respect. With a steely glint in my eyes, I mustered up all the strength and courage within me, and I stared at him furiously, glaring daggers at him.

"Get out. Get out of my sight, you disgusting excuse for a human being," I spat, my voice dripping with contempt and anger. He chuckled at my outburst, pulling me into his arms and crashing his lips on mine, kissing me fiercely.

“I love the fire in you, tiger. You are turning me on with this attitude, and I fucking love it!” he groaned, bucking his hips against mine, groaning at the contact. An involuntary moan escaped my lips, and I brought my hand to cover my mouth, ashamed of my reaction.

“You won’t get away with this, I promise you!

You have no idea who I am and what I can do. You don’t know my husband, Richard Cooper; you have no idea who I am. He is a sentinel, and he will come back for you, and he will make you pay for this!” I threatened him in anger as I ran out of the bathroom before my desires betrayed me in his presence. I could hear his laughter as I left, and I felt humiliated and stupid over and over again.

“I guess you’re too smitten to feel my aura, my love. Or is your wolf too weak to recognize my authority?

If that’s the case, sugar, you have nothing to worry about. I can totally fix that for you. I just have to touch you in all the right places to awaken the sleepy wolf in you,” he let out teasingly, smiling warmly as he walked towards me, looking deliciously tempting. What’s even worse is the purring of my wolf in my head as she felt drawn to him like metal to a magnet.

I practically ran out without checking my outfit to be sure that I looked okay. I ran to our room to tell my husband that I had cheated on him with a stranger. I knew he would forgive me for this mistake; he would understand because he knows I’m not a slut. I’d kept my virginity up till this moment. Why would I want to give it to a stranger and not my husband?

As I tried to locate our room, I realized that I’d left everything in that room. My purse, my phone, and everything I had on me last night were still in his room, including my keycard. I couldn’t go back to that jerk; I couldn’t get back my things, and I couldn’t get into my room. I had to go back home for now until I got everything sorted out.

Oh no!

Today is Saturday!

Richard is probably waiting for me at the Alpha party. I have to attend that party at all costs; our company’s growth is at stake here. Besides, Richard will be flaunting me to his business partners today, introducing me to everyone that matters in the city. I got a cab and went straight home to get ready for the party.

Dad and Aunt Vera burst into a fit of laughter when they spotted me coming in with just a flimsy robe on my body. I ignored them and rushed upstairs to get dressed and attend the party. I tried calling Richard a couple of times before leaving the house, but he wasn’t taking my calls and I knew I wouldn’t be able to call him after I left the house because I’d lost my phone. Or rather, I left it with the jerk.

I recalled that he mentioned that he was given a room in the packhouse because he is of the bloodline of sentinels. So, I decided to go to the packhouse to search for Richard so we could go in together. I was shown to his room by a kind omega, and I knocked on the door, waiting for Richard.

“Hello, Lina, how was your wedding night?” Jackie let out exactly as she opened the door and spotted me dressed for the party.

“Mine was perfect with Richard by my side and so much money to spend, all thanks to my stupid, stupid sister!” she told me, and I nearly passed out in shock. I staggered back, my eyes losing focus as I tried to stay awake and not pass out in their presence. Richard came up behind her, wrapping his hands around her waist and kissing her so passionately, as if his life depended on it.

“R... Rich... Richard...

Why?

H... H... How can you do this to me? I thought you were mine; I thought my mom...”

“Oh, shut the fuck up about your super mom and her delusional words to you before she died. If I have to hear it one more time, I’ll fucking go insane with rage. You let your fantasies about a special man sent by your mom get into your head. I guess I should thank your mom for lying to you and thank you for sharing your dreams with us.” Jackie told me proudly, making it seem like my mom was the cause of my misfortune.

“Yes, daughter. Thanks for sharing your dreams with us. It made it easier to bring Richard into your life. He is a good con artist, isn’t he?” Dad asked proudly, tapping Richard on the shoulder for doing a good job.

“Yes, Lina. Richard is my fiancé and not your special gift from your mom. And now that the company is ours, we can merge our company with his and get to the top together. With our resources, we would be the best team and a power couple. Oh wait, those were your words, right?

Did I just steal your man and your words as well?” she laughed, throwing her hands around his neck and kissing him passionately.

“The house is finally mine, Selina. And I do not want you in my house. Go home, get your things, and get out of my house!” Aunt Vera told me sternly as she placed her hand on my dad’s shoulder, letting me see that she had my father’s support.

“Wait, Mom, before she leaves, I want that necklace she’s wearing,” Jackie let out excitedly, pointing to the diamond necklace that I inherited from my mother. It’s a rare necklace that has an array of colored pear-shaped diamonds, and it’s so fucking expensive. My stepmother has wanted this piece of jewelry and some of my mom's possessions.

But I never let them have it; I guard my mom’s belongings jealously. They are the only things that kept me company all these years and also reminded me of my mother. My hand flew to my neck on instinct, and I tried to protect my necklace. But Aunt Vera reached out to me and pulled me by my hair, holding me down as Jackie took off my necklace and hugged it to her chest, celebrating her victory.

“Is that not the Walkers Necklace that has been missing for over twenty years now?” someone asked from behind us, startling us. I guess she was headed to the party when she spotted the necklace. She alerted some guards, and they came over and viewed the necklace, confirming that it belonged to the Walkers, the Alpha’s family heirloom.

“We caught the thief, and we decided to bring her here as a favor to the Walkers. She brought it here; it was stolen by her and her mother!” Jackie let out proudly and handed the necklace to the guards as a favor to the Walkers. As they stretched out their hands to receive it, she retracted her hands, a mischievous smile playing on her face.

“We would prefer to bring this matter to the Alpha and hand it over to him personally,” she told them, smiling proudly. She was going to use my necklace to get favors from the Alpha, and I couldn’t allow that. I have to stop her; I have to stop them. I need my necklace back.

  • The Alpha's Choice    The Market

POV: EdmondSaturday was supposed to be simple. I had a full morning of calls scheduled, a lunch with the board that had been rearranged three times and could not reasonably be rearranged a fourth, and an afternoon that belonged entirely to the stack of contracts sitting on my desk judging me quietly every time I walked past.I knew Selina went to the farmer's market on Saturdays. Not the large one downtown that everyone knew about. The smaller one on Whitfield Street, three blocks from her building, the one that set up between the old library and the dry cleaner with the faded yellow sign. She had mentioned it once, months ago, in a conversation that had no reason to stick in my memory as firmly as it had. She had said the tomatoes there were the only ones worth buying in this city, and she had said it with the particular conviction she reserved for things she considered non-negotiable.I had cancelled the lunch with the board by nine-thirty. I told Marcus it was a conflict. He had l

  • The Alpha's Choice    Just A Glimpse

POV: EdmondIt was the groceries that finally broke me. I had been driving past on a Tuesday morning, the fourteen-minute route, traffic lights cooperating for once in a way that felt almost cruel, and I had seen her.Not just a glimpse this time. She was standing outside a corner shop two blocks from her building, juggling three bags that were clearly too heavy, trying to get her keys out of her pocket without dropping everything, and she was losing the battle spectacularly.I was past her before my brain finished processing the image. I circled the block. I told myself I was just making sure she was fine. I told myself I would keep driving if she had managed the bags. I told myself a lot of things in the forty seconds it took to come back around. She had made it approximately six steps from the shop door and was now crouched on the pavement attempting to repack a bag that had given up entirely, canned goods rolling gently toward the gutter.I pulled over, I was out of the car before

  • The Alpha's Choice    Driving By Just To See Her

POV: EdmondThree weeks.Twenty-three days, to be exact. I had counted every single one of them like a man serving a sentence, which was exactly what this was, a fucking sentence. It’s a cage dressed up in expensive furniture and a woman who smiled too wide at dinner and called me ‘darling’ in front of staff who didn’t care either way.Alexia had redecorated the east wing guest room. That was where she slept, because that was the only room in this house I had made available to her. She had complained once, loudly, dramatically, with tears that dried suspiciously fast the moment she realized I wasn’t watching. I had stood in the doorway of the master bedroom, looked at her, and said with complete calm,“You wanted a husband just to be a wife, didn’t you?Well, congratulations wifey, you got a last name, you are a wife to a total stranger. Don’t push it, don’t make me take my anger out on you. Enjoy your title and status while it lasts.” I told her, shutting the door in her face. She h

  • The Alpha's Choice    I Trust Him

POV: SelinaThe cold of the marble island bled through my thin dress, a shock against the back of my thighs that made me gasp. Edmond didn’t move. His hands stayed at my waist, fingers splayed, thumbs pressing into the ridge of my hip bones with a pressure that was almost punitive.“Alexia’s husband,” I said, the words tasting like copper.“That’s what you are now.” You could see the sadness and pain in my eyes, the thought alone upsets me. His jaw tightened. A muscle flickered at the corner of his mouth.“Don’t.” He warned me.“Don’t what?Say it out loud?” I scoffed. My fingers were still laced behind his neck. I could feel the heat of his skin through his collar, the dampness at his hairline from the stress of the day.“You married her, Edmond. You stood there and let that vile old man put her hand in yours and you said...”“I said what I had to say.” His voice was so quiet it was barely a vibration in the air between us.“That I accept her as my wife?Come on, my love, you know I

  • The Alpha's Choice    Back Home

POV: SelinaThe drive back to my apartment was quiet. Jason had fallen asleep almost immediately after we settled him in the backseat, his head resting against the window, chest rising and falling in the steady rhythm of someone finally at peace after too much chaos. I sat beside him, one hand resting on his arm, watching the city blur past the glass.Edmond drove, he didn’t say a word, neither did I. But every few minutes, his eyes would find mine in the rearview mirror, and something unbearable would pass between us, the kind of thing that didn’t need words, the kind of thing that hurt worse because of it.“He may be your husband, Alexia, but I own his heart.” I had said it, and I had meant every syllable. But somewhere between that grand exit and this suffocating silence, the weight of what those words actually meant had crashed down on me. He was married, not almost, not in some vague, complicated way that left room for interpretation. He had signed the papers. Alexia’s ring was s
