KYRAN.

I had searched for Arlan all over the new house. He was smart enough to hide his footprints and even followed the ditch area, making me lose track of his scent.

Two years of cat and rat chase between us made him smart. The pungent smell from the ditch did a good job of masking his scent. It meant he wasn't taken, he had left on his own, and didn't want me to find him. That had made me relieved — only slightly.

I thought of calling Percy to help me find him as usual, but that was when I

KYRAN. I heard the doorbell ring, and I tilted my head slightly. I wasn't expecting anyone yet. I stood up from where I was seated and closed the book I had been scribbling on for the past few hours. Mabel’s name was written on each page of the book, followed by her likes and dislikes. When I said I was going to get my mate back, I meant it, and I knew that I would succeed. My confidence? It's been hours, and I haven't heard any whisper suggesting that the package had been thrown. It meant that she accepted it. I walked to the door, opened the peephole, and saw one of Mabel’s elite guards. My hands immediately reached for the doorknob. I hated that there was an internal tremble in my hands and that my heart was racing right now. Did it finally get to her? Was she pleased and decided to answer? The door opened, and the guard bowed towards me. I followed his gaze down and noticed the red parcel I had sent. The tape was off, meaning it had been opened. But why did he bring it w

MABEL. I sat down in the sitting room, the scent of bean curled in the air as a cup of coffee sat on the low marble table before me. My gaze was glued on my laptop, legs crossed. It was evening already, and I was expecting the email from the supreme council elders. I heard the sound of pounding feet, followed by forcefully bouncing on the sofa. Kyra has been running around the entire time since she returned from school. Mommy, school was fun. Mommy, my teacher loved me. Mommy, I wasn't stubborn. I exhaled, then rubbed my forehead a bit, kept the laptop on the sofa next to me, and turned. Kyra was there, wearing a simple pink gown, hair tied in two ponytails. She was holding a red packed parcel. It was little, but bigger than both her palms combined. She shook it close to her ear. It made some noise, and she smiled, then began unwrapping. “What's that?” I asked, and she turned to me, blinking, her cheeks tinted red, as dimples appeared. “Don't be acting cute, Kyra. It won't ma

KYRAN. I watched as one of her guards threw the parcel in the public waste, right before everyone who passed by. The white flower got stained by the dirty trash water while I watched with my jaw clenched. The people passed by, saw the note, and immediately left. Some whispered, some laughed, while the rest just shook their heads like a grandfather who was tired of his incompetent son. My hands folded at my side while staring at the scene. I was hidden away from sight, somewhere, trying to get something for Arlan since the five different breakfasts I made this morning all tasted terrible. He had refused to talk or eat last night, and I realised that I needed to convince Mabel quickly before Arlan fell ill again. “Here you go,” the seller said, handing me the bag of cooked food. I took it and handed him some cash. I glanced at the parcel again before I turned away. I returned to the house I rented, and I saw Arlan dressed in a simple academy uniform. Purple and black cloth, blac

MABEL. I dismissed everyone and returned to my room. It was dark and cold, but I kept hearing Arlan's voice in my head.“Please don't leave me, mom, please..” The way his voice cracked. I sat down on the bed, my hands gripping the duvet tightly. “Young master starved, hoping that you would return to take him when he fell sick.” Evie said that to me. It was clear and crisp. My son waited in vain. And whether Kyran cared or not, I couldn't tell. I let out a ragged breath, then moved into the center of the bed. The bed was soft under me, the duvet was made of fluffy foam, but it did nothing to stop my mind from spiralling.I had to let him go. His future was with Kyran. And if I let him in, then what next? Kyran would dare to come in, too, and then everything I had built all these years would come crumbling down. I shut my eyes and circled my arms around me. It's for the best. That night, I didn't sleep. One moment I was turning, and the next, birds were chirping outside. I stood

I thought of calling Percy to help me find him as usual, but that was when I heard two she-wolves whispering amongst themselves while they passed. My ears perked up. “Did you see the way she stared at the young boy? So cold. She even told her elite guards to cast him away,” one of them whispered to the other. I kept my phone down and stood still, listening.“Ssh, didn't you know? The young boy you just called is the young Prince Arlan.” My eyes narrowed dangerously, but I still listened calmly. “He is the young Prince? I heard Alpha Kyran had left his position to fi

MABEL.Ryan was still kneeling when I stood up and walked towards the door. I calmly reached for the door, my hands tightly wrapped around the knob. What was he doing here late at night? I twisted the knob and stepped outside, and there he was, held back by the guards while he kept trying to burst through. “I'm here for my mother. Tell my mother to come see me.” I felt my body turn weak at his voice. He had grown. Almost taller than I was, even at such a young age. He had a soft voice that cracked every time he mentioned the word, mom’ He turned, and his gaze fell on me. His eyes watered, and he stretched harder, trying to fight through the guards. But he was weak; he was easily hauled backwards. I maintained my cold expression, even when he called after me. “Mom, please come home. I would be a good boy, I won't choose Mom Gena.” His words were like a jab at my throat. The feeling of being strangled, where even breathing almost becomes impossible. “Let …” the words fell off m
