CHAPTER 9: The Luna's House

~ Kim ~

I was dressed and halfway down the grand staircase in fifteen minutes, my hair shoved into a messy knot, Galina at my heels with a canvas bag of herbs slung over her shoulder. My heart was hammering with joy.

The herbs had worked. The dosing had been right. And there were other people in that hall who could also get better if I could just get to them in time.

I hadn't felt useful in four years.

I'd forgotten what it tasted like.

"Galina, hurry, if we leave be

  • The Alpha's Rogue Bride   CHAPTER 88

CHAPTER 88~KIM~“Ready?” Jerry asked, folding his hand into a bow so I could take it.It was now 2am and the party was clearing out, after two more hours of celebrating Catherine becoming Alpha. The entire time, I was waiting for Richard to walk up to me and thank me for saving his pack and position.Somehow, he managed to greet all the special guests and even some of the pack members, but said nothing to me.When he arrived at my table, he barely nodded to me, exchanged conversations with Jerry for a bit and proceeded to greet the other guests.Catherine left almost immediately after the handing over ritual was complete and I had a good guess why.“Kim?”“Yes. Ready. Definitely ready to go.” I responded to Jerry. My heart was boiling as I stared at Richard from the other side of the room.‘How ungrateful can this man be?’I was flabbergasted and enraged, but I could not express any of that to Jerry.‘Maybe he was waiting for me to step out of the hall. You know, create a private spa

CHAPTER 87~KIM~The hallways were empty, courtesy of the event going on, so dashing through the hallway to find Catherine in the medical room.My heart broke at the sight of her.I walked slowly to her bed side. She laid quietly. Peacefully, but I knew her heart would quite literally break if for any reason she woke up and found that Logan had taken over the pack.I stretched my hands over her, but the power restraints around my leg immediately warmed up.It was unfortunate that only a member of the royal family could take this nonsense off of me.“For Catherine,” I whispered and tried to push more power into her.The anklet grew hotter, burning my skin, but I struggled to hold it down for Catherine.‘Just a little more, if she was going to be awake long enough to be declared Alpha.’I closed my eyes very tightly and fought through the restraints.“What are you doing?”His voice startled me and forced my eyes open.Richard.“I…uh…” I dropped my hands down. “I just came to see her, Ri

CHAPTER 86~KIM~Elena headed straight to the living area as soon as Jerry walked into the hall. She did not need to say anything for me to follow her.All the maids and other staff were working the party, so it was completely quiet everywhere else in the house, but Elena did not stop moving, heading for the stairs.“I think this is private enough, Elena. There’s no one here.” I wouldn’t go beyond the living area. She paused, turned around, rubbing her hands like she was a child facing disciplinary actions, but I knew this act way too well and she was not fooling anybody. Certainly not fooling me.“Okay…” Elena took deep breaths, paced for a while and then returned. Her drama was beginning to piss me off.“I’m not doing this,” I turned to leave.“Kim! Kim!!” she called me back with a sense of urgency. There was something about Elena that made it difficult to ignore her. Maybe the blood we shared, because I could not wrap my head around why I turned around to hear her.“Catherine…” she

  • The Alpha's Rogue Bride   Chapter 85

CHAPTER 85~KIM~I spent the entire time trying different methods to get Jerry to tell me where we were going, but no matter how hard I tried, he wouldn’t.Begging. Manipulation. Blackmail. None of it worked. He insisted I would have to wait to find out myself and today…today was finally the day I find out.I stared at the reflection in the mirror, pretty proud of my choice of dress. The black shiny dress that was fitted to my body like a glove, until it flowed at the tail from a slit that was thigh high. There was completely no sleeve on the left and the right sleeve was an exaggerated rainbow of black rose flowers with beads hanging off them.My makeup was done by one of the maidens in Jerry’s pack and as I instructed, she made it nude, but still had my face perfectly snatched. To finish it up was my hair packed in a messy upward bun with curly strands hanging from the sides and the front over my face.“Woah!” Jerry walked in with his jaw hanging.I stared at his reflection in the m

  • The Alpha's Rogue Bride   Chapter 84

CHAPTER 84~ELENA~“Good morning, Baby,”Richard was quiet. Two days.It had been two days now since he last spoke to me, which was two days after he made the impossible request for me to heal Catherine.I had run out of excuses to give. Run out of explanations. I was only a small distance from telling him that I wasn’t in Catherine’s room regenerating her, because I couldn’t.“Richard, how long do you intend to keep this up?” I probed. “We sleep and wake up on the same bed and you keep pretending I don’t exist.”Richard got up and got out of bed.He locked the bathroom door twice as soon as he got in, took at least thirty minutes in there and came back out, ignoring me all through the time he got dressed, until he walked out of the room. For the last two days now, that was his routine and I was sick of the silent treatment. The last thing he said to me was that he knew now that I didn’t love him and it broke my heart.‘If only he knew the lengths I had gone to be with him’.I took a

CHAPTER 83~KIM~“Good morning there!”I was definitely not ready to wake up, but with his face in mine as I adjusted in bed, I was forced to open my eyes.“Good morning, Jerry.” I was still rolling like a worm when my eyes caught a large bouquet of roses beside my bed.“Who are these from?” I sat upright, about seventy-five percent awake now.“Me.”I scratched my eyes and took another look at the bouquet. It was exactly like the one Logan gifted me. The first bouquet I ever received, except this one, was in green and white roses. Unique and nothing short of beautiful.“Is it my birthday?” I inquired, touching the petals softly, “Did I forget my birthday?”Jerry laughed. “No, but I like to make my guests feel welcome and a little birdie told me you would love them,”His response seemed a little bit suspicious to me. “Do I want to know?” I probed.“No.”I nodded, appreciating the honesty of the reply.I chose to agree with Jerry that ignorance was to my advantage in this case.“Thank y

CHAPTER 6: The Necklace Lie~ Kim ~The world stopped.I stared at Elena, waiting for her to laugh. Waiting for her to correct herself. Waiting for something that would make this make sense. But she just stood there, perfectly composed, her blue eyes wide and innocent as a doe's."Excuse me?" My voi

CHAPTER 3: The Wolf's Den ~ Kim ~ My feet moved before my brain could talk me out of it. I walked toward the cabin, drawn by curiosity and something else I couldn't name. Why had Richard chosen this exact spot? Was it coincidence? The cabin was beautiful up close. It looked like a sanctuary. A
