LOGINKian's pov
I was anxious to be home. I hadn't been here for a whole year because it was my last year at Alpha Training Academy, where we were trained to be the strongest and best Alphas. I wanted to lock in and give it my all, and I did. I became the best of the best, and now, there was a possibility that I would be Alpha supreme. "Your son was the most advanced student of mine, Kebby. Congratulations," my instructor, Merek, tells my father. My mother's eyes shine with happy tears. "It isn't a surprise, after all. He's the only alpha in the whole realm to shift into his wolf at the young age of ten," Dad boasts, clapping my shoulder. When I go to the packhouse. There is a party in my honor. The she-wolves keep throwing themselves at me, and the males keep offering me drinks. I want to go to my suite and pass out. But I keep being dragged into a conversation. I catch sight of my best friend and beta, Max. He is chatting up a few women. He is the biggest playboy I know. I approach him, and the number of women doubles. "We have a meeting early in the morning with the outgoing officials. We should retire for bed." "C'mon, man, don't leave, and let's enjoy ourselves. You look stiff," he slurs his words, cupping my face. A she-wolf wraps her arms around me, but I move away, not wanting to be touched. I ignore Max and go inside. A familiar scent of roses catches my nose. I stiffen, recognizing it. It belongs to Nara. She is the reason I stayed away from the pack. I discovered she was my mate when I turned eighteen three years ago. However, she had not yet turned eighteen, so she didn't feel the bond, but I did. It was fucking strong enough to mess me up. Each time I saw her, I wanted to hold her and kiss her. I wanted to be buried inside me and scream to everyone she was my mate. But I couldn't do that. Accepting the mad Alpha's daughter as my mate and Luna would cause chaos in the pack. I saw Nara in the lounge area earlier today. She hasn't changed much, except that her black hair is longer, her heart-shaped face is slimmer, and she's ... stunning. I was stalking her as she worked, but I didn't have the bravado to speak to her because she hated me. Once upon a time, she was my friend, but we were younger. When she came to this pack, I was her protector because she couldn't defend herself. I didn't believe in punishing children for their parents' sins. She smiled more and started fighting back against her bullies. I even gave her a nickname, little butterfly. Nara stopped attempting to escape the Lake Moon pack. She even stopped crying for her parents and her cat that died in the attack. But years into our friendship, my father ordered me to end it. However, I couldn't stay away from her, so I became rude to her. It would be way easier if she were the one to stay away. I became one of the people who made her cry every day. It sucked, but I had to put the pack's needs before our friendship. Nara resented me, but I didn't mind, as long as I'd be Alpha Supreme and protect all the packs better. I ignore the intoxicating scent and continue walking upstairs, but I hear a commotion in the kitchen, so I detour to check what's happening. What I see makes me go crazy. Trisha, Lang, and that fucker Karl are beating someone. My mate! My wolf goes wild and growls, making them stop. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" My body is shaking with rage, my eyes glowing. I want to roar, to order them to get the fuck away from my mate. I want to kill them all for even daring to touch Nara, but I restrain myself. They are my pack members, and she's not. 'But she's our mate! The most important person to us!' my wolf roars. Even as Trisha is saying all her stupid excuses, I'm still seeing red. Nara tries to get up from the floor, covered in injuries, but she stumbles, and I find myself holding her before she falls to the ground. She lifts her gaze to look at me, and time stops. Her beautiful hazel eyes are wide with surprise as she sees me holding her. She opens her pretty mouth to say the words mate but doesn't finish before she goes limp in my arms. I carry her, taking her to the pack infirmary, but stop in my tracks. I look back at the three morons who were hitting her. "I'll deal with you later," I growl and run to the clinic. "Here, Alpha. Please put her on the stretcher," The nurse instructs. I do as she says, and two nurses, male and female, take her away in a hurry. "What happened?" Dr. Guy asks. He has been the pack doctor for years and was damn good at his job. "They were hitting her, and she fainted in my arms," I explain. There is a tremble in my voice. "I'll treat her and run tests. Don't worry, Alpha, you can go home to rest. I know you had a long day," he says, but I shake my head. I won't leave. I want to ensure she is treated. In the past, the nurses refused to offer their services to her until I threatened them, who knows what might happen if I leave her alone. "I'll wait." The tone of my voice tells him not to argue. He nods and goes into the room where they took Nara. I sit on the couch in the hallway, running a hand through my hair. "Nara isn't allowed to get treated here, you know that, right?" the most irritating shrieking voice says. I glare at her. She looks smug. "She's a bitch who doesn't-" I don't let her finish her words. I have her in a chokehold. I lean closer to her ear. "Listen to me and listen carefully, Trisha. Next time you lay a finger on Nara, that's the day you die, and if you're lucky, the day you are banished from my pack, am I clear?" I asked. She is struggling and crying, but I don't release her. She nods frantically, and that is when I let her fall to the ground. "Kian, why would you attack a pack member for that girl? Who is she to you?" A fierce voice booms.NaraI sharply look at Adrian, but he avoids my gaze."What do you mean? Who will bring chaos?" I ask, my voice is calm, but it is all but"Wilson," he says. Who is that, and why am I just hearing about him?"Adalwolf's right-hand man. His beta," he says. Wilson. Beta? What the heck? I didn't even know my father had a beta, he died during the first attack, serving him." I thought his beta died!""Well... He's alive. Wilson betrayed his Alpha by working with the pack's council in hopes they'll make him Alpha, but it didn't work, and Adalwolf found out after he awoke from his coma, and was on a hunt to kill him," he explains."So, he is coming back..." I whisper, my mind swirling. Adrian looks distant; emotion and guilt are on his face. I grab his arm, so he's facing me."What happened?" I ask sternly."I was twenty years old, and eager to prove to Adalwolf that I'm capable and loyal, so I offered to fin
Adrian's eyes are completely dark. He's striding towards me like he owns the manor, so casually. His wolf has completely taken over. "You look gorgeous, princess," he says when he's within arm's reach. "Why are you here? In my house?" I demand, furious. I still can't believe he just walked in like this!"I came to pick you. We have a date, remember?" he smirks, and I groan, dumbfounded. This can't be happening. He leans in and kisses my cheek, and my stupid heart skips a bit, skin feeling on fire. I swear this guy did something to me. That's why I'm so reactive to him. "I want to speak to Adrian, now," I command, and he frowns, almost offended. "Why? We are one," he says innocently. The wolf takes a step back and looks at me in awe. "You are so stunning. I see why my human thinks about you a lot," he muses, with a stupid smile on his lips. I squint my eyes. This can't be happening! My wolf is going crazy. She wants to come out and scream at him, maybe even punch him but I hold he
The days Mom, Mya, and Rhys are with me were the happiest days for me. For a moment, the fights within the factions, and the work isn't my priority. I'm spending time with my son. The only thing that would have made it better was Kian coming. I'm feeling free, so carefree. I tell Mya everything that has been happening, but I skip the weird feelings I have for Adrian because she sometimes judges and would tell her mate, who will no doubt tell Kian. Mom has been spending more time with Sonny, and Sonny is like a baby when she's here. My mom and I are in the salon, late at night, after the long day we all had today. My head is on her lap while she massages my scalp gently as she tells me about the royal pack. "Mama, do you know Adrian Calloway?" I ask suddenly. She pauses for a moment, then resumes her massage. "Yes. I knew his parents. Good people, only wanted what was best for the pack. They enjoyed partying and hosting them. They spoke against y
Nara Ciera is sheepish and tense as we shop. She's preparing for her first date with Mason since she left her mate, who was a complete jerk. Bradley went to Kian's pack, making a scene and begging Kian to release Ciera to him, claiming he was sorry for his past actions. However, he was kicked out. Our association is hanging by a thread. The members of the Lake Moon Pack stand by Ciera and fully support her after they heard how he treated her. "You good?" I ask as I glance at her while we sift through the racks of clothes that the sales associates have shown us. "I'm nervous. I'm going on a date with the most wonderful man I left for my jerk of a mate, and I'm pregnant," she sneers with a laugh, but there’s no humor in her voice. She gently touches her belly. She’s five months along now. "Mason loves you and wants you back. I doubt he cares that you are carrying another man's child," I say gently. "It’s time for you to move on." "I feel guilty. I shouldn
Nara"Hello, stalker," a voice says, from upstairs. I turn and see Adrian walking down the stairs. His hair is disheveled, and his pink lips are slightly ajar, making them alluring. He's a good-looking man, I think, sucking in a breath through my lungs."Done gawking, little princess?" he smirks, standing too close to me and letting his scent envelop me. The two wolves at the bar burst out, and I growl at them."What do you want?" Adrian asks, his gaze runs over me, and stops on my cleavage. I'm wearing a sharp, tailored black blazer, a silk blouse with the top buttons left undone, and a black short skirt. It's hot today. I feel heat crawl up my neck and into my face. Adrian smells of strong whiskey, mixed with mint. "You didn't come all this way just to stare, or would you?" he knits his eyebrow in mock surprise.I grab the folder I put on the table and shove it in his chest. He frowns, flipping over the pages. His gaze hardens, and then he glowers
I take him in from head to toe. He's a handsome man indeed, and can't be more than thirty. He's wearing a black suit."You're stalking me now, little princess?" he whispers, leaning close to my face, and it suddenly feels hot."Don't call me little princess. And this is a public place," I retort, a growl slipping my mouth."This is my club. I own most of the clubs in the city, but this one is my favorite," he says, and I blink. Ayana didn't mention. He smirks, seeing my confusion."Considering how you like being in my space, I'm surprised you actually didn't know.""I don't like being in your space!" I yelled and marched out. I'm so furious. I join my companions and try to have a good time, but I can still feel his eyes watching me!I discreetly go upstairs on the roof, and I feel relief at the air that hits my skin. The city is beautiful, and the rogues are not too far from here. I close my eyes, enjoying the quiet when
NaraI can't stay in the bunkers. Despite the others' protests, I leave. My mom, Tina, Serena, and Margo decide to come and help the injured. I leave Rhys with Amelia. We run toward the borders. My mom has healing royal powers, and I have command.I can feel Kian through our bond, fighting my father
NaraA breathy shake escapes my lips. I know what we are supposed to do. I need to ensure that the pack members are safe in the bunkers. Kian instructed me to stay there too, but I can’t when he is out there, putting his life on the line.'Nara, you need to stay there,'
NaraThe door opens, and I know who has entered the room without looking. I'm still on the floor, unable to move my body."It's my father. He killed those warriors." I say, my voice raspy. He crouched behind me and pulled me into his arms. "I thought so. He's coming, isn't he?" he asks. I only mana
Today is my 18th birthday, but I've spent it cleaning and serving others. My arms are sore from serving pack members for three days straight. There is a big ceremony at the packhouse because the Alpha's son, Kian, is taking over as Alpha tomorrow. Kian completed his Alpha training, and everyone deci
