The Alpha's Unwanted Mate

Today is my eighteenth birthday, but I didn’t get a cake or presents. Just aching feet and blistered hands while the Lake Moon Pack celebrated their future Alpha.

The Alpha’s son, Kian, takes over as Alpha tomorrow. He completed his Alpha training, and everyone decided to start celebrating early.

So little old me is their servant, with only one omega to help me.

They don’t see the frightened little girl they pulled from the ruins of her home. They don’t see the child who lost everything in a single night.

I am treated like trash because of my father, Josiah Adalwolf.

Years ago, he launched a brutal war against the packs. By the time it ended, countless wolves were dead.

They brought me here, not out of kindness, but as punishment. Since then, I’ve scrubbed floors, served meals, and carried the weight of crimes I never committed.

Sometimes I still remember my mother’s laugh echoing through our home or the way my father would lift me onto his shoulders after training, telling me that one day I’d make a wonderful Luna. Those memories are all I have left of them.

I know the whole world remembers my father as a monster, but he wasn’t always that man to me.

He was simply… Dad.

I blink away the sting in my eyes. Crying doesn't solve anything.

I glance at the clock and realize I should go back to bed. I want to squeeze in some sleep while everyone's drunk and not paying attention, but I'm starving, so I head to the kitchen for some food. I'm only allowed one meal a day, even though the Lake Moon pack is the wealthiest pack, but they hate me so much that they wouldn't even let me eat three meals.

I make myself a sandwich, nothing special. Butter and bread. But my stomach twists with relief because it is the first thing I’ve eaten since yesterday.

"Oh, Trisha, did you see Kian? He's so handsome. I couldn't stop blushing." I know that annoying voice. It belongs to Lang, one of my top bullies.

"I know, I'm still hot from when he winked at me after he arrived," the Gamma's daughter, Trisha, purrs. I hide behind the kitchen island, hoping they won't notice me. The cousins bully me more than the others.

Kian and Trisha dated in high school, but he ended it after he left for advanced alpha training. She was heartbroken and hated him, but in his presence, she seemed to have forgotten all about it.

I feel someone yanking me up by my hair, and I groan in pain.

Trisha smirks. "I thought I sensed insignificance in here," she sneers, glaring at me. Trisha is blonde and tan and always wears shimmery pink lipstick, while Lang is the opposite. Both gorgeous. I try to walk past them, but Lang yanks me back, and I hit my back against the island, making me wince.

"What are you doing here? You should be serving, not eating, you fatty," Lang hisses, throwing my sandwich to the floor. I'm not fat; in fact, I'm leaner than she is.

"I was just leaving," I grit out quietly, glaring at the two girls. Trisha slaps me suddenly,

"How dare you glare at me, Nara!" I keep my hands in a fist, holding myself from punching her plastic face because only I will be punished if I retaliate, and sleeping on the disgusting dungeon floors is not in my plan today.

"Get out, I don't want to see you," Lang orders. Her order doesn't faze me or make my wolf flinch. She's a gamma in rank, while I'm Alpha by blood, but these bitches seemed to lose their memories on that particular information.

I’m about to leave when Karl walks into the kitchen and my stomach drops. 

The second Karl steps into the kitchen, my body reacts before my mind does. My shoulders tense, and my wolf growls. 

Karl is one of the warriors in Lake Moon. Strong, respected, and protected. The kind of person who knows no one will believe a servant like me.

A slow smile spreads across his face as his eyes travel over me.

“Well, look who’s hiding in the kitchen.”

I step back immediately.

“Don’t start, Karl.”

His smile widens. “Still with the attitude, sweet Nara?”

I hate that nickname. The way he says it makes my skin crawl.

I move toward the exit, but Lang steps in front of me, blocking my path.

“Where are you going?” she asks, pretending innocence. “We were just having fun.”

I glare at her, big mistake. Her expression darkens.

“Careful. You forget your place.”

Before I can answer, Karl grabs my arm and my entire body stiffens.

“Let go of me.”

Instead of listening, he pulls me closer.

The familiar disgust rises in my chest. The same disgust I feel every time someone touches me like I’m an object instead of a person.

“Don’t act like you hate the attention,” he whispers. My wolf snarls inside me.

I could hurt him and I know I could.

I’m an Alpha by blood. My wolf is stronger than theirs. But that doesn’t matter here. Because if I fight back, they won’t see a girl defending herself.

They’ll see the Mad Alpha’s daughter proving them right. So I endure the insults, hunger and bruises.

Because surviving is the only revenge I have.

“Don’t touch me,” I growl.

Karl laughs.

“Still pretending you’re better than us? You’re nothing but a murderer’s daughter.”

The words hit harder than his hands ever could.

Trisha folds her arms, smiling.

“Imagine if she really is like her father. Maybe one day she’ll wake up and decide to kill us all.”

The others laugh, and something inside me snaps.

Not my wolf but me.I shove Karl away with all my strength and he stumbles back, surprised.

“Don’t ever touch me again.”

The room goes silent and then his face twists into anger. 

“You little-”

He moves toward me, but I’m faster and I swing. My fist connects with his jaw. The satisfaction lasts only a second because then everyone moves and hands grab me. 

Lang pulls my hair and a kick lands against my ribs, I fall to the floor, covering my head as the pain spreads through my body.

I hear their voices above me. “Crazy, just like her father.”

“Monster.”

“Murderer’s daughter.”

I close my eyes and refuse to cry. I refuse to give them that. 

“What the hell are you doing?” The voice cuts through the room is deep and commanding, everuns freezes. 

Slowly, I lift my head and my heart stops. Kian Karson.

The boy who used to sneak food into my hands, and sat beside me when no one else would. The boy who promised me I would never be alone until he walked away and looked at me like I was a stranger.

He stands taller, stronger, and looking like the alpha he is. 

But those eyes, those eyes meet mine and everything changes. My breath catches, and a warmth spreads through my body, so powerful that my pain disappears for a moment.

My wolf goes completely still and then she whimpers.

'Mate.' The word echoes inside my mind.

My heart pounds painfully. Not him, not him. The person who left me. My knees weaken before I can stop myself. I try to stand, but I buckle and before I can fall again, strong arms catch me. His arms.

Kian’s.

The moment he touches me, the tingles burns through me, confirming what my wolf already knows. I look up at him and for the first time, I see something I never expected.

Kian isn’t looking at me like he just found his mate. He’s looking at me like he’s been waiting for this moment for years. Because he already knew.
