LOGINNara
I wipe my face before anyone can see the tears. I refuse to let them watch me fall apart. They already think I am weak enoughIn the early afternoon, I felt excruciating pain in my chest, as if someone was stabbing me. My wolf told me we felt it because Kian was making out with another woman.
I finish serving dinner, avoiding looking in Kian's direction. Trisha is sitting on his lap, smiling like a Cheshire Cat but Kian isn't reacting to her.
I'm about to slip out of the room when Doty, one of Kian's closest friends and a top warrior, calls my name. I freeze in my tracks.
"Nara, have you eaten?" she asks. Doty is tall and lean, with short raven hair and catlike, stormy, sexy eyes. She is truly the epitome of a hot girl. Every male wants her, but she has eyes only for Davon, the pack's gamma. Doty is often nice to me and waves when we cross paths.
"Want to join us for dinner?" she asks when I don't answer her. I dare to glance back at their table, high-ranking members of the pack, newly sworn in, including the Alpha, beta, gamma, and top warriors, and Lang and Trisha, who are rankless but are there.
"No," I say and turn to leave. I can feel Kian's gaze boring through my back. All I can think of is, who was he making out with earlier today? Trisha?
I didn't sleep through the night because my chest was in constant pain.
The next morning was the same as other mornings. I helped the two cooks make breakfast, but I had to wake up an hour earlier than usual since it was Monday, and I had school. I take a shower, put on one of the three pairs of pants I own and a tank top, then throw a hoodie over it and pull it up over my head. Grabbing my bag, I walk to school.
My school was in the human town, twenty minutes from the pack, even though it was part of the Lake Moon territory. I chose to go there because most of the students are human and are not mean to me. I was almost making it to the gate when coffee was spilled on my clothes by a car window. The car speeds up, leaving behind the echoes of their laughter. Trisha. It is too late to go back, so I proceed and go straight to the bathroom.
I try to dry myself, but it doesn't dry fast enough. I'm frustrated and punch the dryer. I keep doing it over and over again. I hate this damn pack, and I hate all these people. Why do they keep me here if they hate me so much?!
" Are you okay?" a voice asks from the toilet. The door opens, and a girl with curly hair and honey eyes appears. She's very gorgeous, like a doll with her makeup, nose piercing, and hoop earrings. Her gaze falls on my hands, and she gasps, coming to me.
"You're bleeding. You need to go to the nurse's office," she's panicking. I sniff her scent and realize she is human and doesn't know how werewolf healing works. We heal faster than humans. Does she even know about us? Some humans don't and think werewolves are myths.
"I'll go," I tell her to soothe her panic. She eyes me skeptically, and then something crosses her face, something like pity.
"I'll take you," she murmurs, and I don't protest. The school nurse cleans and bandages my wound. She's a wolf, so I caught her rolling her eyes, thinking it would heal in an hour or so. She paid attention only because the girl was watching intently, worried.
When we left the nurses' office, she extended her hand to me.
"Hi, I'm Mya, twelfth grade and new to the school," she said, smiling, her face bright.
"Hi, Mya, I'm Nara, twelfth grade too." We shake hands, our gazes lock, and we smile and nod. I can't remember the last time I smiled from the heart.
Mya is cool and surprisingly popular, and everyone keeps complimenting her and her outfit. She's wearing a black flared mini skirt, knee-length boots, and a white tube top.
We walk to class together, and we sit next to each other. " How come I've never seen you in class before?" I ask.
"I was homeschooled until last week," she answers, and I squint my eyes when the school cheer captain beams and waves at her.
"I kinda have a huge presence online. I have a somewhat popular fashion blog," she murmurs, looking a little embarrassed. The quarterback winks at her as he goes to his seat at the back, "And I play online games," she adds, and I nod. I wouldn't know about her since I don't have a phone or computer. Our young math teacher, Mr. Cain, enters, and everyone quietens. His eyes widen when he sees Mya, but she smirks and waves, prompting the other students to murmur and oo. Mr. Cain clears his throat and gives her a stern look before proceeding to teach.
Mya throws a note on my desk, and I open it discreetly.
<Hey, wanna be friends? Tick yes or no>
I'd never had a friend besides Kian, and he broke my heart, but there is something about Mya that makes me not scared about friendship. I tick yes and throw it back to her.
"Best friends forever!" she whispers.
"You said friends, not best friends," I remind her.
She smirks, "Soon you'll beg me to be your best friend, trust me, I'm irresistible," she winks and starts drawing in her notebook, ignoring the teacher.
For the first time in forty-eight hours, I don't think about Kian and what happened.
Mya is just a source of sunshine. She has so much energy and doesn't get tired of talking.
However, when I reach the packhouse after school, I wish I hadn't.
Standing in the driveway is Kian, and a woman holds onto his arm, smiling up at him, while the former Alpha and Luna watch with expressions of love and happiness on their faces. Another couple is standing next to them, and I recognize the man. He is Felix Choi, the Alpha of the Sea Moon pack. There was talk circulating in the kitchen earlier this morning that his daughter might be the next Luna of this pack, Kian's betrothed.
My eyes move to the woman holding his arm, and my stomach twists painfully. She isn’t just another she-wolf, she is the woman everyone has been whispering about.
The woman who could become Luna.
Kian’s Luna.
And suddenly, I understand, fate is cruel to me. My own mate was never meant to be his.
NaraThe celebration begins before the sun even starts to set. For the first time in years, the Bay Moon Pack is not scattered among different factions. They are together, socializing at the pack party we organized, and my mother helped a lot with that.Multicolored string lights hang between the trees, music echoes through the grounds, and the scent of food and laughter fills the air. I'm taking it all in, scared that it will disappear if I blink. A month ago, none of us knew if Bay Moon would survive, and today we are celebrating its rebirth."Long live Bay Moon!" someone chants. "Bay Moon!" the crowd cheers, and a lump forms in my throat.Concetta slips beside me, nudging my shoulder. "You did this." I shake my head immediately, no, no."We did." I smile, looking around at all the familiar faces. She smiles proudly before disappearing into the crowd."Mama!" I turn and see my son crashing into my legs. "Rhys." His mouth is covered in cream, and his sticky fingers wrap a
Kian’s POVThe screen in front of me has looked the same for the past twenty minutes. I haven’t read a single word. My mind isn’t on the reports; it’s on her, Nara.I pick up my phone again to check, but there’s nothing, no new messages or missed calls. I know she’s busy, and her work is important, especially with the threat against her now that Wilson is back. But being away from my mate has never felt this wrong, and this distance is killing me.A knock sounds at the door. Before I can chase the person away, the door opens, and Naomi comes in, carrying two coffees. She smiles at me. “I thought you’d still be working.”I glance at the clock, it’s almost midnight.“Apparently.”Naomi walks over and places the coffee on my desk.“You need to sleep.”I give her a small smile. “Since when did you become my mother?”&ld
Nara's POV"That bitch, she's so... urgh, dead!" Ayana explodes in frustration after I tell him what I learned about Natalia."I'll have my people search for the witch, for now, our priority should be catching that bastard Wilson. He tried to kill you!" Sonny is growling, eyes glowing, and body shaking with rage."Our men caught sight of him in the city, but they weren't sure it was him," Concetta says, looking carefully at the silver bullets on the table.Sonny leans against the table, his expression serious."These weren't ordinary rogues. They are highly trained." Asher murmurs, "He really wants to take you out.""I know."The room fell silent, my jaw tight. The attack happened, and so far, what we know is that Wilson is back, and he came with a group of assassins.I spent the following day with my son and my mom, taking him to all the children-friendly places. The pack members were happy to see him too. However, I was anxio
Nara POVA familiar black SUV suddenly swerved into view, and my eyebrows knitted. The car came to a sharp stop right in front of me, tires screeching against the ground. Before I could react, the door flew open, and Adrian rushed to my side, his face tense, eyes scanning the area. “What are you-” A gunshot sound cut through the air, and then another. For a second, I don't know what is going on. Adrian starts to move, and his body slams into me, pushing me backwards as he wraps himself around me. I clutched onto his shirt, my nails digging into him as my heart hammered against my ribs. “Down!” he growls. I can’t even answer, and I'm barely breathing. Adrian is covering me completely, his body acting as a shield between me and the bullets flying through the air. He grabs my arm, hand tight around me. “Move.” His voice leaves no room for argument. Adrian drags me toward the city hall entrance as security guards rush past us, weapons drawn, shouting orders. The glass doors shat
Kian’s POVTwo weeks ago, at night, my wolf was feeling frantic, and no matter what I did, he wouldn't settle. I distracted myself with office work and then with training, but he was still restless. I had even forced myself into Nara's closet, hoping her scent would calm her. Nara has been gone for months now, and my wolf and I are unhappy about that, but we know her work is important. My wolf only calmed down temporarily, but as soon as I left, his anxiousness was back, so I decided to shift and run.The moment I stepped into the forest and let my wolf take over, relief flooded through me. My paws hit the earth, my senses sharpened, and the cold night air rushed through my fur.I was running when I suddenly smelled it, a strong scent that covered me, so alluring. It was strong. My wolf started to pace, tracking, and the closer I got, it was mixed with something else... Blood. Someone was bleeding. I shifted back instantly and wore shorts, searching the area. I followed the scent to
The following morning, I got ready for my meeting. The faction leaders had called me and requested it, I swallowed, looking into my mirror nervously. The door to my bedroom opened, and Mya walked in, her face fallen and pouting. Last night, she accused me of wanting to betray my mate and having feelings for Adrian. My feelings towards Adrian are unsettled and confusing. I don't necessarily want him, or want to mate with him. I feel a pull towards him, and it's hard to explain right now. I stand to face her, silent, eyes locked. "Morning..." she stares, and I nod. She exhales and sits on the bed. I sit next to her. "I'm sorry," she says. "I'm sorry for being harsh last night," she says softly. I throw my arms around her in a long hug. "I know you are worried about me and my relationship with Kian," I tell her, and she nods against me. "I'll fix everything and tell Kian about what's happening, but when I'm ready." Concetta and I arrive at the city hall. Fifteen faction leade
KianI read the message over and over, looking at the picture Serena attached. I have a son.I'm smiling and pacing the living area of my parents' cottage. My mom is crying tears of joy, while my dad is beaming from ear to ear, holding my mother t
Nara's Pov I can't stop looking at them. The woman is pretty, with silky black hair cascading down her back, smooth, flawless skin, and dark brown eyes. They look like the perfect couple standing side by side. The woman can't hide her thrill, however, Kian doesn't look too pleased. His gaze flicke
Nara's pov "I want you," he murmurs against my skin, kissing my collarbone down to my chest. His teeth scrape softly against my skin. It feels so good, I close my eyes, enjoying the sensation."Do you want me?" I don't think twice when I nod and spread my legs. "You're so perfect, my butterfly,"
Nara's pov That cedarwood scent, I know it. It is familiar to me. I sniff again, he is here. I'd recognize it anywhere. It is the scent I once loved and now hate most in the world. It belongs to the boy who broke my heart. Kian. My eyes flutter open, and the first thing that shot through was pain.
