Sarah’s POV

I wasn’t supposed to be downstairs.

That was the first thought that came to me as I quietly stepped out of my room.

Ever since the day Eleanor shouted at me for coming downstairs, I had always been scared. I had gone down only because I needed water.

But as I reached the top of the stairs, I stopped.

Low voices coming from downstairs. What are they always talking about?

Eleanor and Adrian.

At first, I thought it was just another discussion. Then I heard my name, and it made me paus

Sarah's POVFor several long seconds, I simply stared at the glowing screen. The room was completely dark except for the faint light coming from my phone. Beside me, Adrian slept peacefully, his breathing slow and even, completely unaware of the message that had just appeared. My thumb hovered over the notification. I wanted to open it, but I also wanted to pretend it didn't exist.A strange feeling settled in my chest. What if it was Anna? The thought alone was enough to make my heart beat faster.I carefully slipped out of bed, making sure not to wake Adrian. My bare feet landed softly on the cold wooden floor as I quietly picked up my phone and tiptoed toward the balcony. The cool night air greeted me the moment I stepped outside.I wrapped my arms around myself before finally looking down at the screen again.Unknown Number. There was no name or profile picture. Nothing that could tell me who had sent it. I hesitated once more before unlocking the phone. The message opened immedia

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 64

Sarah's POVBy the time evening arrived, the warmth of the afternoon had faded into a cool breeze that drifted through the open windows. The house felt unusually peaceful. I had spent most of the day reading, taking short walks around the garden, and trying not to think too much about everything that had happened over the last few days.I had almost convinced myself that life was slowly returning to normal. The sound of a car pulling into the driveway made me put my book aside.A few seconds later, I heard the front door open, followed by familiar footsteps echoing through the hallway."I'm home."Adrian's voice carried easily through the quiet house.A smile spread across my face before I even realized it."I'm in the living room," I called back.Within moments, he appeared in the doorway. His tie had already been loosened, and there was obvious exhaustion written across his face, but the instant his eyes landed on me, his expression softened."There you are."I laughed quietly. "You

Sarah's POVThe following morning began more peacefully than I had expected. For the first time in days, I woke up without the heaviness that had been sitting on my chest. The curtains swayed gently as the cool morning breeze slipped into the room, carrying with it the scent of freshly watered flowers from the garden below.I slowly opened my eyes and instinctively turned toward Adrian's side of the bed.He was already awake.Instead of getting ready for work as usual, he was sitting against the headboard with his laptop resting on his lap. His attention wasn't on the screen, though. He was looking at me.The moment he noticed my eyes open, a smile spread across his face. "Good morning."His voice was gentle enough to make me smile back."How long have you been awake?""A while.""And you've just been... staring at me?"He chuckled. "I wasn't staring.""You were.""I was making sure you were sleeping peacefully."I laughed softly as I sat up. "That's even worse.”He continued. I'll ta

Sarah's POVThe house had finally become quiet. After everything that had happened earlier that day, I should have felt relieved. Anna was gone. The shouting had stopped. The front door had closed behind her, taking the chaos with it.Yet the silence she left behind felt louder than the argument itself.I sat alone in the living room, absentmindedly tracing circles on the rim of the teacup Eleanor had insisted I drink from. The tea had long gone cold, but I hadn't noticed. My mind was somewhere else entirely.Every time I blinked, I saw Anna's face again. The confidence in her eyes. The certainty in her smile. The way she had looked directly at Adrian and asked if he was afraid she would reveal his secrets. Most of all...The way Adrian had reacted. He looked angry, not surprised, nor embarrassed.I shook my head, trying to chase the thought away before it grew into something bigger."No," I whispered to myself."I promised him."I had promised to trust him. Marriage couldn't survive

Sarah's POVI opened my mouth to answer."What evidence are you talking about?"Before another word could leave my lips, the sharp sound of a car horn echoed from outside the house. Both Anna and I instinctively turned toward the front door.My heart skipped a beat.Adrian."They're back," I murmured.I expected Anna to panic, or run, or even sneak out before they walked in.She did none of those things, instead, she smiled. As though she had been waiting for this exact moment."You should probably leave," I said, unable to hide the nervousness in my voice.Anna folded her arms across her chest. "No."I stared at her. "No?""I'm exactly where I want to be."Before I could say another word, the front door swung open. Adrian walked in first, his suit jacket hanging loosely over one arm. Eleanor followed closely behind him, still holding her handbag.Neither of them noticed us immediately.Adrian was saying something over his shoulder to Eleanor."...I'll make a few calls tomorrow mornin

Sarah's POV"Who are you?"The question left my lips almost immediately as I stared at the woman standing just inside the open front door.I had been arranging a few flowers in the living room when I heard the door open. Assuming Adrian or Eleanor had returned earlier than expected, I hadn't even bothered looking up right away. But the voice that greeted me wasn't familiar."So this is what your days look like now," the woman said, glancing around the house with obvious amusement. "Comfortable."I frowned. She looked strangely familiar.I searched her face, trying to remember where I had seen her before. She folded her arms across her chest, watching me with a smirk."What?" she asked. "Don't tell me you've forgotten me already."I narrowed my eyes. The confidence, that attitude, that voice… then it clicked. My eyes widened slightly. "Oh..."A small breath escaped my lips. "You're..." I paused before finally saying, "You're the one from a few days ago."Her smile widened. "So you do

Sarah’s POV“Are you hiding something from me?”The question slipped out before I could stop it.Adrian paused for a second. He turned slightly, his gaze settling on me where I stood near the edge of the bed. His expression didn’t harden, didn’t shift into anything defensive. It softened. “No,” he

Sarah’s POVI sat across from Adrian in the sitting room, one leg tucked slightly beneath me as we talked. Sarah’s POVI stood in the living room, arranging a few files neatly on the table. They weren’t important, but I needed something to do with my hands.Something to keep my mind steady.Adrian had said he would be back early, and for some reason, I found myself waiting. The sound of the door opening

  • The Billionaire's Contract Bride   Chapter 46

Sarah’s POVI stood in front of the mirror, brushing my hair slowly, my thoughts drifting in and out without any real direction. It had been a strangely calm day, too calm, if I was being honest… but I didn’t want to overthink it.For once, nothing had gone wrong. And I wanted to hold on to that fe
