I held my face, the skin burning hot between my fingers.

“Do you even know who I am?”

Her best friend, Lucy Bravin, walked in right behind her, slamming the front door shut with a deafening thud.

“Gracie, calm down,” Lucy said, handing her a tissue to wipe her hands. “Hitting her will only get your hands dirty.”

Grace Collins scoffed, and the corners of her mouth, painted with bright red lipstick, curved into a smirk. “She’s a shameless homewrecker. Who else could she be?”

Lucy took a step forward in her stiletto heels, crossing her arms as she judged me from head to toe.

“Oh, so you’re proud to be a side piece? Girls these days really have some thick skin.”

My heart dropped. I had been right all along. That text message hadn’t been sent by my brother, Damien Fischer.

I clenched my fists tightly and said, “Damien is my older brother. My name is Pia–”

“Give me a break.” Grace cut me off, tossing the used tissue right into my face. “Damien doesn’t have a sister like you.”

Lucy chimed in sarcastically from the side. “This trick is so outdated. You think calling him ‘brother’ makes you close? If that worked, every girl on the street would be Damien’s sister.”

Grace suddenly clamped her hand tightly around my chin.

“How long have you been seducing him? How much money did you scam out of him? That ten thousand dollars was just pocket change to you, wasn’t it?”

“I didn’t scam–”

Before I could finish my sentence, I felt my scalp tug. Lucy had grabbed me by the hair and was dragging me from the entryway to the living room like a piece of trash. I stumbled backward blindly, my knee slamming hard against the doorframe. The sheer pain made me gasp for air.

This was mad. What kind of psychopaths have I run into today?

“To be able to live in such a high-end neighborhood, you must have slept around with plenty of men, huh?”

Lucy pulled even harder, her fingernails nearly digging straight into my scalp as she added, “Damien has incredibly high standards. You think he’d ever look at a piece of trash like you?”

Then, I was thrown to the ground, my head hitting the floor so hard that it started to buzz.

Grace walked in, her high heels coming to a stop right next to my face. She bent down and tapped her long black fingernails against my forehead aggressively.

“Little girl, stop dreaming. Damien only loves me. You’re not even worthy enough to shine his shoe. Today, I am going to teach you a proper lesson about what happens to homewreckers.”

This was bullshit. My brother Damien had spoiled me and loved me since we were kids. As long as it was something I liked, no matter how expensive it was, it would be delivered right to me the very next day.

Because I was a total homebody who hated socializing and preferred to spend my money in peace, my parents let me do whatever I wanted. That was why they told the outside world I was studying abroad, just to keep me from being dragged into high-society debutante parties.

Aside from my family, the only person who knew where I actually was was Hank. Yet now, that lie had become the perfect excuse for this woman to abuse me.

I struggled with everything I had, screaming, “Let go of me! Get the hell out of my house!”

Lucy yanked my hair again, forcing me up as she crouched down.

“I asked you a question. How much do you get paid per night? Is that ten thousand dollars a monthly rate or something?”

My eyes widened, and I gritted my teeth, repeating, “He is… my brother…”

“Your brother?” Grace raised her hand and hit me again. “And you’re his sister? Damien himself said that his sister is living abroad. If you keep lying, I’ll make sure your face is ruined today.”

Lucy kicked me hard in the shin, sending me face-first back onto the floor. The intense pain forced me to curl up into a ball.

In my entire life growing up, I had never once been treated like this. They were done for!

Lucy then stepped on my fingers, grinding her heel down. “Don’t waste your breath on her. I want to see exactly how much money this bitch managed to scam.”

I shook from the sheer agony, and blood started to seep out from beneath my fingernails. Even so, I pushed my body up, lifting my head to glare furiously at Grace.

Grace looked down at me, as though I were literal garbage.

“Let me tell you something. I came here today to make sure you know exactly who Damien’s woman is. You’re just a little bitch from nowhere, and you’re glaring at me? It seems like you don’t care about your eyes anymore either.”

After the family doctor left, Damien had just changed the bandages on my hand when the bedroom door was pushed open. My mother rushed in first, and her eyes were red. She reached out, wanting to touch the bruises on my face, but then hesitated and pulled her hand back.“Does it hurt?” she asked.I shook my head. Tears immediately started streaming down her face, and she turned her head away to wipe them.My father followed behind her without saying a word. He stood at the head of the bed and stared down at me for a long time. He placed the thermos he was carrying onto the nightstand, unscrewed the lid, and warm steam from the chicken soup rose.He stirred it with a spoon and brought it to my lips. I opened my mouth and took a sip, but I hissed from the heat. He quickly pulled the spoon back, blew on it twice, and offered it to me again.Damien stood at the doorway, leaning against the frame with his arms crossed, a look of regret written on his face. My parents ignored him, though

Damien lost his grip on the coffee cup, which fell onto the table, spilling dark brown liquid everywhere. The smile froze on his face. He looked as if he had been turned to stone, his eyes staring fixedly at the screen without blinking. As silence befell the room, Howard pushed the camera a little closer, magnifying my unconscious face on the screen.“If I hadn’t thought about coming over to check on Pia today, nobody would have known she was being bullied like this,” Howard said.Damien’s voice came through the phone. “Who bullied her? Who did this?”Damien’s voice dropped even lower than before. It was so low that it sounded as if a knife were being forced out of his throat.“Who had the nerve to touch my sister?”Grace’s phone slipped out of her pocket. With a loud clack, it hit the floor, and a huge crack spread across the screen. She stepped back until her back was pressed against the cabinet. Her lips parted, but nothing came out of her mouth. The phone in Lucy’s hand drop

“Turn it off.”Howard’s voice wasn’t loud, but Lucy’s hand holding the phone trembled anyway.“You think you can just tell me what to do?” Lucy shot back.“Say one more word about her. I dare you,” Howard said, taking a half-step forward before stepping back against the doorframe.Lucy’s lips twitched, but she didn’t say another word.Grace glared at her. “What are you afraid of? What can he possibly do to us? We’re the ones in the right here!”Howard glanced down at his watch and then looked back up toward the door. Outside, the hallway was silent, but his posture relaxed visibly as he leaned back against the doorframe.Grace clenched her fists tightly.“If you get out of my way right now, I won’t hold this against you,” she snapped. “But if you insist on standing in our way, don’t blame me for what happens next.”When Howard didn’t budge, Lucy leaned in and whispered something into Grace’s ear. Grace gritted her teeth, then raised her voice even louder. “Let me tell you so

Seeing Howard stopped by the two burly men, Grace swaggered over to him and sized him up.“Why aren’t you coming over? Go on, take a good look at this darling little sister of yours.”She gestured with her chin toward where I was lying on the floor.“Just a moment ago, your precious girl was calling another man on the phone. I bet she’s got a whole bunch of ‘brothers’ waiting in her contacts, huh?”Lucy walked around to Howard, holding her phone up and bringing the camera to his chin.“Hey, handsome. Let me tell you, this girl makes a living out of calling rich men her brother just to beg them for money. Don’t fall for her trap. Oh wait, you already did! Hahaha!”Howard ignored Lucy’s camera. He looked past the shoulders of the two large men, fixing his eyes entirely on me. His fingers clenched into a fist and then relaxed. The lanky man reached out and shoved Howard’s chest. “We’re asking you a question. What’s your relationship with her?”Howard raised his hand, brushing the

Grace froze as she stared blankly toward the doorway.“Is that Damien?”The two men, too, had stopped what they were doing, and I began to gasp for air, struggling against them. That was just the smart home voicemail system. Damien couldn’t get hold of me, so he had started leaving a voice message! However, he had no idea the situation I was currently in, and I had to find a way to contact him myself! The very next second, a phone ringtone echoed through the room. I knew that ringtone all too well. It was Damien’s ringtone.Grace paused for a moment, looking toward the living room as her gaze darkened. She had actually believed Damien was at my house, unaware that she had been fooled by the automated voice.“So it was just a voicemail. You bitch! If you think one trick is going to make me let you off the hook, you’re dead wrong!”She glared down at me, but I didn’t answer. Instead, I crawled along the floor to escape, my knees scraping against the ground until they were bright r

Lucy shoved the phone right into my face, the camera pressing against the tip of my nose.Meanwhile, Grace walked over through the mess in the room. She bent down and pinched my chin, her nails digging deep into my skin as she forced my face toward the camera.“Say it. Say you’re a homewrecker.”I twisted my head, trying to dodge her hand. “I’m not.”A slap landed on my left cheek. The force of it knocked me off balance, and my forehead slammed hard against the cabinet door.“Say it. Say you’re a homewrecker.”“I told you I’m not!”This time, my right cheek went numb, my ears rang, and I could taste blood in my mouth.Grace pinched my chin, yanking my face back to the camera again, and said, “Look at the camera and say you’re a homewrecker. Say you seduced my boyfriend, and say you conned him out of his money.”More comments flooded the livestream. [Good job hitting her! Homewreckers deserve to be punished!][Make her return the money!
