My confident declaration went viral almost immediately.

People dug into my school and my grades, then uncovered that I was the Kaplan family's biological daughter, only recently brought home.

[An heiress who's also a genius! Some people really are born with everything!]

[A swan is still a swan, even if she grew up in the wild. You can't hide that kind of brilliance!]

My younger sister, Daphne Kaplan, walked toward me while reading the comments from her phone in a mocking tone. "A top university? You haven't even received your score yet, but you sure know how to brag.

"Besides playing tricks to get attention, what else can you do?

"A genius heiress? Please. It'll be hilarious when you can't even get into an ordinary trade college."

In my previous life, I'd thought she treated me this way because she was afraid I'd take some of Dad's love away from her.

It wasn't until I was dying that she twisted her face into a sneer and said, "Do you think Mom and Dad would've brought you home if your grades couldn't help me get into a top university?

"You're a backward, ugly little nobody. Even they were embarrassed to be seen with you."

Only then did I realize that my father had planned from the beginning to let her steal both my score and my life.

Now, though, I couldn't help laughing as I looked at her.

Her brows drew together when she saw me smile. "I'm warning you, the Prescott family would never choose trash like you for a marriage alliance.

"I'm the true lady of this house, and I'm the one who's going to become Mrs. Prescott.

"You're nowhere near qualified to compete with me."

The Prescotts. Julian Prescott.

In my previous life, I'd secretly had feelings for him, but now I saw him for what he was: a mediocre man with an absurdly high opinion of himself.

I knocked her hand away and said with a bright smile, "Wow, really? That's incredible. You're amazing!"

Her mouth opened, and confusion flashed across her face.

Just then, Lydia Kaplan - the wealthy socialite who was supposedly my mother - came up behind her with a smile. "Of course our Daphne is amazing. Unlike certain people, she doesn't need to put on an act."

Daphne looked even more smug once Lydia arrived. "Tomorrow is the school's score-release ceremony. I'll show you what real ability looks like!"

I sneered inwardly and said nothing more.

I was also looking forward to seeing her face once the scores came out.

Early the next morning, I'd barely stepped out of my room when a blur of pink slammed into me.

Caught off guard, I nearly tumbled down the stairs.

Daphne stood there in a custom couture gown, looking down her nose at me. "Why are you blocking the way like a dog? You almost made me fall."

The gown had clearly been custom-designed by my foster mother for my graduation ceremony.

I wasn't surprised. Daphne had stolen it in my previous life too.

When she saw me staring, she smiled triumphantly. "Oh, right. Dad said everything in the Kaplan family belongs to me, so this dress is mine too."

I shrugged. Since she loved stealing my things so much, she could steal to her heart's content.

I only hoped she'd still love the dress when she ended up standing naked in front of everyone later.

Hearing the commotion, Lydia came out and beamed at the sight before her. "Only someone as beautiful as our Daphne deserves to wear a Draper Atelier gown."

"Draper Atelier?" Daphne stared at me in shock. "How could a broke country girl like you possibly afford this?"

"I know! That man who drove you back to school last time must've bought it for you!"

The moment she finished, my father came up behind us. "What man? You've been associating with disreputable men behind our backs? Have you no shame?"

I laughed. "So you're making up sexual rumors about me now?"

My father froze, apparently not expecting the daughter who'd always been timid to talk back.

Daphne burst into tears and threw herself into his arms. "Dad! If some man didn't buy the dress for her, then she must've stolen it!"

Stolen it?

My foster mother had founded Draper Atelier herself.

Why would I ever need to steal from it?

And that man wasn't some stranger. He was my foster brother, the youngest CEO of a publicly traded company in Westbridge.

The Kaplans and Prescotts might think they ruled this city, but one word from my brother could strip them of everything.

He looked at Daphne with disappointment, then said to me, "Don't listen to her nonsense about a score-swapping system. Nothing like that exists in this world."You're my biological daughter too. How could I ever hurt you that way?"His words sounded sincere, but I'd already lived through one life. How could I possibly believe him?To be fair, if I hadn't experienced it myself, I might not have believed such a system could exist either. That worked in my favor. Even if Daphne told everyone I'd deliberately submitted a blank exam to trap her, no one would believe her. When I remained silent, he smiled again. "Why didn't you tell me earlier that your foster brother is the CEO of Draper Holdings?"If I'd known, I certainly wouldn't have questioned the education you received, would I?"Evelyn, you're a Thornwood student now. You should think about the bigger picture instead of staying angry with your father. Ask your foster brother to show mercy and invest in us again."So in the en

Ms. Doyle pointed a trembling finger at Daphne and Julian. "It was them! They used their wealthy families to threaten and bribe me into giving them answers ahead of time."I never wanted to do it, but they said their families would destroy me and make sure I lost my teaching career if I refused."The hall erupted. "What? Daphne and Julian were the real cheaters?""My God! They knew the answers in advance and still couldn't beat Evelyn? That's pathetic!""They always pretended to be these aloof, brilliant golden students. What a disgrace!"The other parents finally understood and began denouncing them. The livestream comments filled with ridicule as well.Recovering from her shock, Lydia stepped in front of Daphne and shouted, "Evelyn hired this woman! She's trying to frame my daughter!"Julian's parents quickly agreed. "Exactly! Why should anyone believe a person she brought here?"Ms. Doyle pulled out her phone and played the secret recordings she'd made each time Daphne and

The reporters saw the situation reverse and immediately thrust their microphones toward the families."Mr. Kaplan, you insisted that Evelyn's grades were fake. If that's true, why would she call the police herself?""Exactly. This is Adrian Draper, CEO of Draper Holdings, and he's personally vouching for Evelyn. What do you have to say now?""Mr. Prescott, Daphne scored zero on the national college entrance exam. Is your family still considering a marriage alliance with her?""We also saw Julian's score. It isn't high enough for even a mediocre private college. What are you going to do about that?"Watching my father suffer under the questions, I nearly laughed. He'd planned to let Daphne steal my score so the Kaplan family could gain publicity and secure a profitable marriage alliance. How could he ever have expected me to turn in a blank exam?Their faces turned red as they shoved at the reporters and warned, "The media should stick to the national exam. Stay out of our priva

Daphne spotted my foster brother immediately and shrieked, "That's him! He's the one who drove Evelyn home last time! The two of them were acting incredibly intimate!"Julian looked my foster brother up and down with contempt. "Everything you're wearing probably cost less than fifty dollars."Evelyn, I thought you'd found someone better than me. Instead, you picked up some filthy beggar."What, did you bring him here to defend you?"Daphne and Julian had always been pampered and sheltered. They'd never met anyone truly powerful. My father and Julian's parents were different. There was no way they could fail to recognize my foster brother, Adrian Draper, CEO of Draper Holdings. My father looked at Adrian in panic and immediately released my arm. "You... you two know each other?"Not understanding the situation, Lydia jabbed a finger against my forehead. "You just finished the national college entrance exam, and you're already running around with men? You truly have no shame!"No

At the words "Thornwood acceptance package," the entire hall became so silent that a pin could have dropped.Daphne was still standing there naked, too stunned to react. Then someone laughed. "Is she insane? She isn't even wearing underwear.""There's nothing to see anyway! What did Julian ever see in her?"Only then did Daphne snap back to her senses and curl up on the floor. "Th-this is impossible!"Her face went deathly pale, and even her voice trembled. "The system must be wrong! How could I possibly score zero?"Lydia hurried over and wrapped a coat around her. "Who is behind this prank? The Kaplan family will make them pay!"Ms. Parker rushed into the hall, her face burning with anger over what she'd seen on the livestream.Someone pointed at the screen and asked quietly, "How did Daphne get a zero?""Did she really leave every answer blank?""That doesn't make sense. Haven't her grades always been decent?"Recovering from her shock, Lydia glared toward the control boo

My father's face darkened when he heard that. "What lies? Daphne has never told a lie in her life!"You're the one who didn't grow up beside me. I have no idea what bad habits you picked up out there."Daphne scoffed. "An acceptance package? The scores aren't even being released until today! How could you already have an acceptance package?"You must be completely delusional!"Lydia couldn't suppress her smile. "I know your jealousy of Daphne has nearly driven you insane, but that's no excuse to lie so shamelessly."Today's score-release ceremony is being broadcast nationwide. You're not only disgracing the Kaplan family, but dragging the school into it too."The Prescott family members standing nearby all frowned.Julian walked straight past me to Daphne's side. "Evelyn loved putting on an act at school. There's nothing surprising about this."A top university? She'll be lucky to qualify for a third-rate trade college."You should give up on trying to steal Daphne's place as
