I wanted what he wanted, because all it reminded me of was the first night we met. The first night he was with me. My heart fluttered as he ran his fingers on my skin as it sent bolting goosebumps all over my body. “Alex…” I paused, catching my breath, “You have to stop.” It didn't sound like I was irritated because the look in his eyes made me want it even more. It was subtle because I couldn't forget the first night we spent together. “I can't,” he replied, pouring the alcohol stench on my face. It was the first time seeing him in his drunk state—he behaved totally differently. The harsh side of him disappeared. My heart was pounding, but I knew by myself I had to make the right decision, no matter how rough it was going to be on me. I didn't want him to get pissed off. “You are drunk,” I uttered, pulling him to myself to get him on the bed. I ended my fantasy so quickly too. I remembered I was pregnant and the father of my unborn child had no idea about its existence. “You don't know what you're saying, woman!” He staggered, and I pulled him to the bed. The soap had dried up on my skin, making me feel tacky. I pulled off his shoes and tucked him into sleep. “I really don't have any idea about what my life will become. I don't know how to make things right for myself now, but I'll always consider you as the savior I never expected. The stolen savior…” I uttered, staring at him as he mouthed in his drunken state. I didn't know what to expect anymore. I promised myself to take each hurdle I was going to face in this marriage a step at a time. I returned to finish up in the bathroom before going to sleep. The next morning, I could feel a weird shadow hovering over me. “Move away, I want to sleep,” I uttered in my sleepy state. “At least you would have considered sleeping on the bed, rather than going to bed on the couch,” Alexander replied coldly. I jumped up immediately from my sleep. “A-Alex?” I stammered, “You're awake?” I picked up the duvet from the ground and I immediately covered myself. “Did you try killing me yesterday after I returned drunk?” He furrowed his brows, with his two hands on his waist. . “Oh, c’mon,” I chuckled. “I am asking because I expected you to still be asleep. You were in a bad state yesterday,” I added. I couldn't even look him in the face. He had no idea what he was trying to do last night. If he did, I was very sure he wouldn't be standing to confront me the way he was. “That's in the past. You need to freshen up if you like and come for breakfast. I just had to wake you up to let you know the contract is on the reading table,” he uttered and pointed to the direction of the reading table. “Ohh…” I uttered curiously, looking in the direction of the reading table. “I will check it.” “If you like…” he replied and walked away. I slammed my two palms on my face because I had always dreamed of being woken up with a kiss on my forehead, but I was woken up with a shadow and a lot of attitude. I freshened up and when I got out fully prepared, I let out a heavy sigh as I saw the sealed envelope which had the contract. Suddenly, my phone rang and without paying attention to who could have called, I ignorantly answered my phone. “I have been at your house, and it is sealed. Where the hell are you, bestie?” It was Valerie. Immediately, my heart fell into my stomach. I grasped my phone tightly as I could feel the coldness at the tip of my fingers. “I'm not home,” I uttered, the fear in my voice was vivid. It was very clear that I wasn't ready to face her. She called me bestie? This meant there was a greater chance that she wouldn't find out about what happened. “I'm coming to you right now,” I uttered, and picked up my bag and ran out to the door. When I pulled the door open, I realized I was still wearing the rock of a ring in my hand. I had to run back to the table and I placed the ring on the contract envelope and left the room. I went into one of the cars, “I need you to drop me at a spot where I can get a taxi really quick.” I reminded the driver because that was the exact same thing I said when I called him to drive me out. “Mr. Blackwood made me responsible for anywhere you want to go, and I don't want to lose my job,” he replied fearfully. It felt like I was pushing him to commit a sin by asking him to drop me off the roadside to get a taxi. “Actually, it's not that bad. I just need to get something. I am your boss as well, too. I will be fine,” I uttered, and the car jerked as we reached a taxi spot. I immediately jolted out of the car, “Thank you!” I was lucky to find a waiting taxi in a few minutes and I hopped in to go back to my father's house. While I was inside the taxi, I remembered that Alexander was dressed in a suit and that he woke me to read the contract. I remembered that I tried on a wedding dress the previous night. “Ahh! F*ck!” I gasped. “ It's my wedding today!” I uttered out loud. “Congratulations ma'am,” the taxi driver cheerfully congratulated. I didn't even think about it, and I was going to see Valerie? I didn't know the best route to take. I had no idea if I was going to see Valerie to at least apologize before she found out the truth, or me having to jolt back to the mansion to prepare for my wedding. The ride to the house from the mansion is about thirty minutes or more. Bestie… That name kept ringing in my head because she rarely called me it. She called me on her good days. I was then motivated to keep going rather than to turn back. While the taxi rolled steadily on the road, I was restless about the decision I was making. I was bothered about the hue she was going to feel after she found out about the truth—Her best friend married her ex-fiancé. Scrrrrrrr! Scrrrrr!! The taxi suddenly screeched and jerked after stopping. I immediately found something firm to hold with my eyes closed, “Driver! What the hell is going…” I lifted my head and I found two tinted SUVs that blocked the road, “...on.” I was filled with fear. The worst was about to happen. I was about to be kidnapped on the day of my wedding. Why didn't I think twice before telling the driver to drop me off the road? What was I thinking? Questions ran through my head and 8 didn't know how to keep up with it. I started to regret it. The SUVs blocked the road in such a way that the taxi driver couldn't move forward or even reverse to ignore the cars at the front. “Alexander!” I muttered and pulled out of the car. “What's going on?” I angrily yelled. I acted that way because I thought he sent people to come and get me. Alex came out of the SUV with so much aura that kept me on my toes. “You left your ring on the table, and you were nowhere to be found. I had to track you…” he softly said, as he moved towards me. “Oh, I was…” I wanted to explain myself on the spot, but I was dazzled at the sight I had. “It's our wedding today, and Bella, I am asking you again to spend your life with me. Will you marry me?” He knelt down and proposed. Without even moving an inch, I felt the crowd gathered with their phones, “Say yes! Yes!” They chorused. I knew I was cooked because it was going to be on the internet. While I stared at him thinking about the fact that I couldn't hide the marriage from my best friend, and I didn't read the contract I signed, and I was pregnant with him, and he had no idea—I had to give an answer. “Yes,” I muttered. Yes, publicly that I was going to be the CEO's wife. “Bella!” I heard my name from the crowd and I turned into the habitation of fear, regret and doubt of who could call me at that point. My hands were heavy with the rock, but my heart was heavier with the fear of the unknown.BellaMy husband had a lot of doors in the mansion. He kept all of them closed. I told myself it wasn't my business to knock. Then I started counting how many then he left the house at midnight. Alex was an outing animal. I always imagined having to marry a man that was grounded in his goals, little did I know I'll find myself trapped in a marriage with no emotions. His life was a cheat map, easy to predict but without knowing the outcome of each move. I started living the life of a text book: Woke up every morning to his orders of what I needed to do daily, and he would return to the mansion by midnight to give me very vague information about his life. Most of the time, he was drunk. During the weekdays, it would seem like he got his brain refreshed and he would get back to serving my favourite tea on my bedside before I wake up, arranging the workspace without me asking, and making efforts to have dinner early. In all of this, just in one moment, everything could change. He w
BellaAlex's world was full of men who smiled with their teeth and watched you with their eyes. After receiving the large sum of money, I realized that truly, I was nothing more than a pet in the eyes of Alex. I had to do everything he told me to. I acted only in the way he needed me to act. I was already living the life of a textbook a few days after marriage. After the planned dinner, I had nothing to do than follow him like a shadow when he was home. I wasn't really prepared for what I signed. I stood frozen in the room after the door was opened without a knock. “You seem to be extremely busy," he murmured as he walked into the room. The sounds of his footsteps sent shivers to my spine. “You are the busy one," I replied quickly, shoving my robe to cover my body. His brows furrowed and he moved backwards a bit. “Was there any part in the contract that mentioned you have to cover your body?” His voice was cold and distinct.“Uhm, you didn't think I could also be feeling cold?"
Bella The bedroom I was given was bigger than my entire apartment that the bank almost took away from me. Deep down, I told myself that it was a good thing. Even after I said that to myself more than three times, it was hard to believe in even one of them. I was shown my quarters and at that moment, it felt like I was a worker in the mansion. The quarters were quite distant from Alex's suite. Then I remembered that it was part of the contract. The room was beautiful and far from impeccable; It had silk drapes with a vase of fresh rises by the bedside. Its scent filled the entire room, and there were just more features as I looked through each corner. I opened my mouth slowly to behold the wonders of the room, a type I hadn't seen in a long time of being born into this harsh world. I was awed by everything I saw, but at the same time, I felt suffocated. It was purely vanity in all forms. Deep down, I knew I was crawling into my own doom. Because it already started feeling like a
BellaI married for money and not for love. I dumped the fact that there may be people who care about me, and there were those who faked it. While the wedding certificates were being signed by my contract husband, I lived in the delusional state that this was not a contract, it was real. Mr. Blackwood will definitely not frame that contract, and Valerie? She can't do more than give me a dead stare from her seat.Moving around to get to a better position to have my signatures on the marriage certificate made me feel nauseous. This time, it was bad enough that I wrinkled my entire face from the discomfort it gave me. “You are both officially husband and wife!” The judge announced, and I just had to give a quick smirk while I watched my contract husband smile to the ends of the corners of his mouth. Valerie could not hold up to everything that she witnessed. She probably thought it was all a joke, that there were no two ways about it, and the fact that it could be a prank. My whole
BellaI had no control of myself because the room fell with me. From the moment of forcing a smile in front of everyone to pretending to be happy. After hearing the magistrate's voice brush the silence that choked on me after signing the contract papers, I was weak. The reading of the last contract was something I had barely heard. All I could think about at that point was the sound of my own heartbeat. My heartbeat was too loud and fast like it wanted to bail on me. “Bella?” Alex’s voice reverted from the distance he stood and that was the last thing I heard. My vision became blurry and everything I thought I could see started melting into one unreasonable sight. I tried so hard to make sure that I put myself together, but my brother failed me. I was scared because I struggled to get here even when it felt like trouble. I wasn't ready to leak the cat out of the bag—that I would have to tell my husband that I was pregnant with his child even before we got married. He was the im
Bella I went to court to finalize everything— to take the one and scribble my signatures on the contract papers, for a man who I randomly had a one-night stand with. Valerie’s Black dress was outstanding, but her hard look was the overall fitting of her look. “Oh, you! I didn't think you'd come to my wedding,” Alex chuckled and it ached me. At this point, I had already crossed the thin line that divided love and hate. I didn't think twice before doing anything that was going to favor me and my unborn child. I wasn't going to sit and let just any random thing occur again. “Was she invited?” I asked in a cold tone. “I can't chase her, can I?” Alexander muttered and said his vows. I stared at her from my sides, trying so well not to make it obvious. Everyone probably thought she was coming to halt the wedding, but her character displayed something totally different. Her weird smile lit her face even when it was obvious she had doubts. “Don't let my presence interrupt,” Valerie u
Bella“You are getting married?” Valerie was in the middle of the crowd smiling. She walked towards me and I felt my heart falling into my stomach. “Va-Va,” I tried to mutter a few words, but she interrupted. “ You don't have to be audible right now. I know how hard it could be for you to be doing
Bella“You are now my wife, and I would appreciate it if you followed everything I have mentioned.” He replied again. I stood still, like I was frozen because I realized I had signed the contract without reading. I didn't even bother going through what I scribbled my signature on. “When would I g
Alexander I could be the devil, but I had some conscience in me. For years, no one ever cared if I knew my side of the story because money spoke for me. It bothered me, because I have always wanted to say the truth myself. My passion for women is one, and my loyalty to one is another task entire
BellaI swirled on the bed only to be blessed with a sight that made my heart race and fall into my stomach.“Damn!” I mouthed quietly. The room was so scattered, and I blinked to have a clear vision of everything while breathing heavily. Beside me was a man—he was still asleep. He laid on the othe
