“You are now my wife, and I would appreciate it if you followed everything I have mentioned.” He replied again. I stood still, like I was frozen because I realized I had signed the contract without reading. I didn't even bother going through what I scribbled my signature on. “When would I get my copy of the contract papers?” I asked coldly, and he turned to me. “And what…what would you need that for?” he asked, ignoring my question. “Tell me if I will get my copy or not…” I retorted fiercely. I had nothing to lose anymore. I didn't read what was on those papers and after placing my signatures, the only favor I could do myself was reading it. He was surprised at my reply. I mean, I looked timid. It almost felt like I could not speak if I had nothing to offer other than the name of being his wife or being called Mrs Blackwood. “You'll get it after the Court marriage tomorrow,” he smirked, taking wide steps towards me. “Court marriage? Valerie… She will find out,” I replied as I felt my heart falling into my chest, my fingers crossed as they became ice-cold. Alexander chuckled like he had no manners “This is no secret marriage! If I'm making you mind, then the whole world must know,” he mentioned confidently. “I didn't want to break her like this,” I wept. “Really? Break? You are annoyingly innocent, but I just have one thing to tell you—It's all vanity!” He paused and looked around his mansion. “Prepare for the wedding tomorrow, and I'll be back by morning,” he ordered after snapping his hands and working out. I let out a heavy sigh, but I still felt like I was carrying multiple burdens on my back—burdens I had to let go. There was nothing left to hide as it was. My condition was critical, and honestly, it was the only way I could save myself. I didn't know how she was going to take it, or if it was going to change the good person she was. “Vanity?” I muttered again, and how loud it sounded when it came from Alexander's mouth. It felt like there was something I had no idea about, but when I scanned the past again, and again…I found nothing. Valeria probably ignored me because I was dealing with so many problems. I mean, it was mostly at that stage that people cut people off. Right? It all brought me to why I was feeling bad about it. What worse thing could she hear than the fact that I was carrying Alexander's unborn child. Till this moment, it felt like I had just got married to a stranger—the stranger you didn't know their names, you just saw them. Fear gripped me as I took myself around the parts of the house I felt comfortable to enter. I thought so hard about the decision I had to make concerning telling Alexander we were expecting a baby. I imagined a lot in a split of seconds. “What if Alex gets angry and his anger approaches him, having to make me get an abortion?” “What if he denies that the unborn child I was carrying wasn't his..?” “What if he maltreated my child?” “What if I get ruined by Valerie?” These thoughts sprinted through my head till I pushed through the main entrance of the bedroom. Yes, there was a main entrance. It felt like a building for a business, not a home. The luxury was immaculate, but it was filled with emptiness. “Mrs. Blackwood. I have been waiting for you,” the maid uttered, holding a couple of dresses and their hangers. I snapped out of my thoughts and stared around, “Yes, I'm sorry about that. I was trying to do some things,” I replied, ignoring how awkward I sounded. The dresses were complicated. Even if I wanted to try something of that sort, I knew it didn't have to be this wedding. It wasn't something to be happy for. “I need something simple and comfortable. I don't need all of that,” I uttered, trying to give them a good mix of different impressions. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, but I had to do so to avoid any more problems. “Alright, ma. We will sort out a dress before the early hours of tomorrow,” the maid replied succinctly as she crossed her hands in front and looked down. I gave a vivid expression before she left the room. Immediately she left the room, I closed the door and I searched the entire room. I was nervous and desperate. There had to be something I could find before tomorrow morning. I searched cautiously, but after about three hours, I saw nothing. I was devastated, and I fell to the floor crying,“ I wish I hadn't even gone out that night to spend everything I had. I wish my father didn't die, leaving all the loans to me,” I cried bitterly, struggling to catch my breath as I looked at the time. It was midnight. I sniffed and struggled to pick myself up to freshen up so I could get some rest. I started looking at the brighter side of it—I wouldn't have to pay those loans. They were so much for me. While I took a hot shower, I paused. I heard someone banging on the door. I was feeling frightened, but I suddenly remembered that it was the Blackwood Mansion. Without thinking twice, I pulled the door open while I was fully covered in a bathroom robe. I thought it was one of the mansion workers or the maid who attended to me. I thought the dress was ready and there was nothing more I was going to do than to accept what she brought. I was shocked. It wasn't the maid, or the mansion workers. As I opened the door, Alexander fell into my hands reeking of alcohol. I was stunned, yet afraid because he mentioned he wasn't coming back tonight. “I–I almost thought there was no one at home. I forgot that I'm a newlywed, and that I had to be with my wife tonight.” Even when he was drunk, he only stammered, but tried to stand erect. He knew his environment, and it seemed like he was used to drinking and being all by himself. I moved away, “I will get you a drink to help with your hangover tomorrow and maybe something you want to eat,” I replied, still moving away. He took wide strides that he was very close to me. Unfortunately, I couldn't move backwards anymore because I reached a wall. “Why would you want to get a drink or food to eat when you're here? I could eat you out, Bella. You are my wife, you are my hangover.” He moved closer, and it made me confused. I was trapped because I had no idea about what I could do.BellaAlex's world was full of men who smiled with their teeth and watched you with their eyes. After receiving the large sum of money, I realized that truly, I was nothing more than a pet in the eyes of Alex. I had to do everything he told me to. I acted only in the way he needed me to act. I was already living the life of a textbook a few days after marriage. After the planned dinner, I had nothing to do than follow him like a shadow when he was home. I wasn't really prepared for what I signed. I stood frozen in the room after the door was opened without a knock. “You seem to be extremely busy," he murmured as he walked into the room. The sounds of his footsteps sent shivers to my spine. “You are the busy one," I replied quickly, shoving my robe to cover my body. His brows furrowed and he moved backwards a bit. “Was there any part in the contract that mentioned you have to cover your body?” His voice was cold and distinct.“Uhm, you didn't think I could also be feeling cold?"
Bella The bedroom I was given was bigger than my entire apartment that the bank almost took away from me. Deep down, I told myself that it was a good thing. Even after I said that to myself more than three times, it was hard to believe in even one of them. I was shown my quarters and at that moment, it felt like I was a worker in the mansion. The quarters were quite distant from Alex's suite. Then I remembered that it was part of the contract. The room was beautiful and far from impeccable; It had silk drapes with a vase of fresh rises by the bedside. Its scent filled the entire room, and there were just more features as I looked through each corner. I opened my mouth slowly to behold the wonders of the room, a type I hadn't seen in a long time of being born into this harsh world. I was awed by everything I saw, but at the same time, I felt suffocated. It was purely vanity in all forms. Deep down, I knew I was crawling into my own doom. Because it already started feeling like a
BellaI married for money and not for love. I dumped the fact that there may be people who care about me, and there were those who faked it. While the wedding certificates were being signed by my contract husband, I lived in the delusional state that this was not a contract, it was real. Mr. Blackwood will definitely not frame that contract, and Valerie? She can't do more than give me a dead stare from her seat.Moving around to get to a better position to have my signatures on the marriage certificate made me feel nauseous. This time, it was bad enough that I wrinkled my entire face from the discomfort it gave me. “You are both officially husband and wife!” The judge announced, and I just had to give a quick smirk while I watched my contract husband smile to the ends of the corners of his mouth. Valerie could not hold up to everything that she witnessed. She probably thought it was all a joke, that there were no two ways about it, and the fact that it could be a prank. My whole
BellaI had no control of myself because the room fell with me. From the moment of forcing a smile in front of everyone to pretending to be happy. After hearing the magistrate's voice brush the silence that choked on me after signing the contract papers, I was weak. The reading of the last contract was something I had barely heard. All I could think about at that point was the sound of my own heartbeat. My heartbeat was too loud and fast like it wanted to bail on me. “Bella?” Alex’s voice reverted from the distance he stood and that was the last thing I heard. My vision became blurry and everything I thought I could see started melting into one unreasonable sight. I tried so hard to make sure that I put myself together, but my brother failed me. I was scared because I struggled to get here even when it felt like trouble. I wasn't ready to leak the cat out of the bag—that I would have to tell my husband that I was pregnant with his child even before we got married. He was the im
Bella I went to court to finalize everything— to take the one and scribble my signatures on the contract papers, for a man who I randomly had a one-night stand with. Valerie’s Black dress was outstanding, but her hard look was the overall fitting of her look. “Oh, you! I didn't think you'd come to my wedding,” Alex chuckled and it ached me. At this point, I had already crossed the thin line that divided love and hate. I didn't think twice before doing anything that was going to favor me and my unborn child. I wasn't going to sit and let just any random thing occur again. “Was she invited?” I asked in a cold tone. “I can't chase her, can I?” Alexander muttered and said his vows. I stared at her from my sides, trying so well not to make it obvious. Everyone probably thought she was coming to halt the wedding, but her character displayed something totally different. Her weird smile lit her face even when it was obvious she had doubts. “Don't let my presence interrupt,” Valerie u
Bella“You are getting married?” Valerie was in the middle of the crowd smiling. She walked towards me and I felt my heart falling into my stomach. “Va-Va,” I tried to mutter a few words, but she interrupted. “ You don't have to be audible right now. I know how hard it could be for you to be doing what you're doing. “What are you doing, Valerie?” I could finally ask. My eyes were covered with tears and I could feel the heaviness of the ring Alex wore on my middle finger.“Congratulations, yeah? I think that's the right thing to say to you right now. You are amazing,” she added, smiling too, with tears in her eyes. When I looked around, I realized I couldn't fumble. I realized that at this point, it was my right to stand against whatever she was going to do. I mean, everyone was watching, and my heart couldn't stop racing. I needed something better to happen. “Move away from my wife!” Alexander's voice was loud and charismatic. He moved towards me and stood in front of me. He was
Bella I wanted what he wanted, because all it reminded me of was the first night we met. The first night he was with me. My heart fluttered as he ran his fingers on my skin as it sent bolting goosebumps all over my body. “Alex…” I paused, catching my breath, “You have to stop.” It didn't sound
Alexander I could be the devil, but I had some conscience in me. For years, no one ever cared if I knew my side of the story because money spoke for me. It bothered me, because I have always wanted to say the truth myself. My passion for women is one, and my loyalty to one is another task entire
Bella My heart flipped like a million coins that were tossed in the air as I walked toward the door. I was overthinking it, but I was ready to take the risk of going to the door. Could it be Valerie? I mean, I tried to make her consider going back to her cheating ex. It was something worth gettin
Bella“Aren’t you ashamed? You don’t even care about the fact that I’m her best friend!” I wailed angrily. Deep down, all I need was a better route to escape my problems. The offer was indeed golden, but why did it have to come from him? Why did he have to be the one to ask for such a delusional f
