The slap cracked across Oren Gallamor’s face with brutal force.

She staggered backward. Her cheek exploded in white-hot agony. The sting was immediate and vicious. But it was nothing compared to the deeper, soul-crushing realization settling in her chest. This was not just another drunken outburst. This was the end of whatever fragile illusion of family she had left.

Her father loomed over her. His eyes were bloodshot. His face twisted with a mix of rage and desperate relief. The stench of cheap gin and unwashed desperation clung to him like a second skin.

“Twenty million dollars,” he snarled. Spittle flew from his cracked lips. “James Reeves wants you tonight. You’re going to fix every fucking debt I ever made. On your back if you have to.”

Oren wiped blood from her split lip. Her gaze remained steady even as fury and grief warred inside her. “You’re selling your own daughter to settle debts you created with your gambling and drinking. Mother spent her last breath begging you to protect me. And this is what you do?”

Her father’s laugh was ugly and broken. “Reeves has been looking for you specifically. Said your face has haunted him for years. If I don’t deliver you tonight, he’ll come for me. And then he’ll come for you anyway. At least this way I get paid first.”

The words hit harder than any fist. Oren barely had time to process the horror before the beating began in earnest. Fists slammed into her ribs, her stomach, and her face. She fought back at first with claws and screams. But he was bigger, meaner, and fueled by terror. Pain became a roaring fire, then a distant hum, until darkness finally swallowed her whole.

In the haze between consciousness and oblivion, rough hands dragged her limp body out of the apartment. Her father’s slurred, triumphant voice cut through the fog like a final betrayal.

“She’s all yours now, Reeves. Debt cleared. Just make sure the little witch doesn’t come back biting.”

The black van doors slammed shut with the finality of a coffin lid.

Oren woke to the sound of waves crashing violently against cliffs and the faint scent of rain mixed with cedar and expensive cologne. Her body screamed in protest as she pushed herself up on cool silk sheets. This was no filthy basement or warehouse cell.

She was inside James Reeves’ modern castle. A sprawling fortress of glass, black marble, and sleek contemporary power perched dramatically on the edge of the Atlantic. Towering windows revealed a stormy sea smashing against jagged rocks far below. The kind of place built by a man who feared nothing and owned everything.

Before she could fully orient herself, the heavy door opened. A lanky man with dead eyes entered.

“The boss wants to see his new acquisition.”

They marched her through long marble corridors lined with silent, hollow-eyed women who had long stopped hoping. Oren kept her spine straight. She memorized every turn, every camera, every possible weakness. Survive first. Then destroy.

The corridor opened into a vast sunlit atrium with dramatic views of the churning ocean. And there, seated like a king on a sleek black chair, was James Reeves.

He was taller than she expected. He was impeccably dressed in a tailored black shirt that hugged his broad shoulders and powerful frame. His face was sharp and handsome in a cold, dangerous way. When his dark eyes landed on her, bruised, bloodied, yet standing with unbroken defiance, the air itself seemed to shift.

James felt it like a knife to the chest. That sharp, disorienting jolt. The same violent recognition that had slammed into him the moment her photograph crossed his desk months ago. His pulse spiked. For one unguarded second, raw, terrifying possession burned in his gaze. It cracked the ice he had perfected over years. Then the mask slid back into place. Calm. Controlled. And lethally composed.

She is mine.

“You’re early,” James said. His voice was low and smooth like aged whiskey. He rose and crossed the distance with deliberate grace, carrying the scent of cedarwood and storm-lashed stone. Up close, the sheer power radiating from him made the vast room feel smaller.

Oren studied him coldly. She cataloged every detail: the expensive watch, the faint scar above his collar, the eyes that missed nothing. She lifted her chin. “If this is your idea of hospitality, your interior decorator deserves to be shot.”

A ghost of a smile touched his lips. Most women begged or cried by now. This one insulted his home within minutes. She was different. Intriguing.

“Your father owed me a great deal,” he murmured. He circled her slowly like a collector appraising a rare and dangerous artifact. “He offered you as payment. I accepted because the moment I saw your photo, I knew you belonged here. With me.”

Oren’s laugh was sharp and bitter. It echoed off the marble walls. “Belonged? I belong to no one. Least of all a man who buys women like livestock. Tell me, Reeves. How many girls have you claimed before the one who actually makes you lose control?”

James stopped directly in front of her. He was so close she could feel the heat radiating from his body. He reached out slowly. Not to strike, but to gently brush a stray lock of hair from her bruised cheek. The touch was surprisingly tender. It sent an unwelcome shiver racing down her spine.

“I don’t buy women, Oren Gallamor,” he said quietly. His voice dropped into something darker and more intimate. “I claimed one. You.” His thumb lingered for a heartbeat too long against her skin. “And I don’t break what’s mine unless it forces my hand.”

Oren knocked his hand away with more force than necessary. But she couldn’t ignore the way her pulse had quickened. “Touch me again without permission,” she warned. Her voice was low and venomous. “And I’ll make sure you regret the day you ever laid eyes on that photo.”

James smiled then. Slow. Dangerous. And almost fond. “There it is. That mouth of yours. I’m going to enjoy taming it.”

He studied her for a long moment. The stormy sea raged behind the glass windows as if mirroring the storm brewing between them. Finally, he nodded to the two silent guards standing nearby.

“Take her to the east wing. Give her clean clothes, food, call the doctor. No one touches her without my direct order.”

As the guards escorted her out of the atrium and down another long corridor, Oren glanced back once over her shoulder. James Reeves remained standing exactly where she had left him. His dark eyes locked on her with the intensity of a vow carved in stone.

She allowed herself a small, venomous smile. Good. Keep watching me, Mr. Reeves. You have no idea who you just brought into your beautiful, castle.

The heavy doors of the east wing suite closed behind her with a soft click.

But Oren Gallamor already knew the truth in her bones. This was not just a transaction. This was the beginning of a war she intended to win. No matter how much it cost her.

*James' POV*The penthouse suite at the harbor hotel felt like a gilded cage.I leaned against the bar, watching Oren Gallamor stand by the floor-to-ceiling windows. The city lights glittered below like false promises. She hadn’t spoken much since the escape. The weight of her mother’s recording still hung between us like smoke.“We need a plan,” she said finally, turning to me. Her voice was steady, but I could see the storm in her eyes. “Vida wants the real card. He thinks he can use it to control us both. We use that against him.”I crossed my arms, studying her. “What are you thinking?”She walked to the table and spread out a map of the city. “We leak false information. Make him believe the real card is at one of your warehouses by the docks. We set a trap. When he comes for it, we end him.”I studied the map, then her. “It’s risky. He’ll bring an army.”“I know,” she replied. “But it’s the only way to draw him out. I’ve been thinking about this since the rooftop. We use his greed

The knock on the door turned into pounding.I stood frozen in the safe room, legs still shaky from the way James had taken me on the table. The interrupted recording still echoed in my mind.~Harry Vida is your father.~James moved instantly. He pressed a hidden panel beside the bookshelf. A section of the wall slid open, revealing a narrow, dimly lit escape passage.“Move,” he said, grabbing my hand.We slipped into the corridor just as the outer door rattled violently. Harry Vida’s voice boomed through the speaker again, calm and chilling."Oh my dear daughter. Please open the door. Let’s talk like family.”We ran. The passage was narrow and cold, emergency lights casting long shadows. James led the way, gun in hand, moving with the precision of someone who had prepared for this exact nightmare. I followed close behind, silver gun ready, heart pounding. We emerged in the underground garage. James chose the fastest car , a sleek black supercar reinforced for war. The engine roared to

My heart was going to explode. The red sniper dot burned on James’s chest like a promise of death. I stood frozen on the rain-slicked rooftop, the real microSD card held over the crashing Atlantic far below. Harry Vida, the man who had just claimed to be my father, watched me with dark, possessive pride.“One wrong move,” he said softly, “and my man puts a bullet through your husband’s heart before your wedding night even begins.”James didn’t flinch. “Drop it,” he told me quietly. “If it keeps you safe, drop the fucking card.”My hand trembled. Rain mixed with tears on my face. Everything; my mother’s murder, my sale, this twisted marriage, had been orchestrated by the monster standing ten feet away. But James… James was looking at me like I was worth dying for.I made my choice.I lunged sideways, shoving James with every ounce of strength I had. The rooftop wind howled like a dying animal as Harry Vida lowered his gun. He smiled at me with something almost tender. “You still don’t understand, do you?” he said softly. “I didn’t just kill your mother. I created you. I am your father.”My finger froze on the trigger. Not the news I was expecting.James stood rigid beside me, rain streaming down his face, gun still trained on Vida. “What the fuck are you talking about?”Vida laughed, low and genuine. “Well, I was your mother’s lover long before your so-called father entered the picture. She got pregnant. I told her to get rid of it. She refused. So I let her keep you… as long as she stayed useful. When she started digging into my dealings with Reeves’ empire, I had to remove her. Cleanly.”I felt the world tilt violently. The gun in my hand suddenly felt impossibly heavy. “You’re my father?” I whispered.Vida’s smile widened. “Blood calls to blood, daughter. The wedding day arrived beneath a sky heavy with storm clouds.Black luxury cars lined the circular driveway of the Reeves estate while armed guards patrolled every corner like soldiers preparing for battle instead of a ceremony. Inside the castle, chandeliers glowed gold against marble floors, but beneath the beauty lurked tension sharp enough to cut skin.Everyone knew something was coming. No one knew death had already entered the building.I stood in front of the mirror in the bridal suite, staring at myself in silence. The dress was breathtaking, black silk stitched with silver embroidery that shimmered like moonlight. The long sleeves hugged my arms while the back plunged low, exposing skin like temptation itself. I looked less like a bride and more like a queen being prepared for war.Behind me, two women adjusted the train carefully before leaving without a word. The moment the door closed, my expression changed. Cold. Focused. Dangerous. I reached beneath the vanity table and
