FAZER LOGIN“He's not going to make it right?” Reid said the instant we walked out of his dad's room. I looked up at his sad face, and the urge to ruthlessly tell him that his dad wasn't going to make it came over me, but I pushed it down. Maybe I can go on with it in a nicer way.
“I saw the way you looked at him…there's no hope,” he said and let out a sad laugh. I was quiet.
“The medicine I gave him can only make sure he doesn't go through much pain and sustain his life for a little more time, but it can't do more than that,” I said, and I was surprised when I actually reached out and patted his shoulder. He seemed equally surprised as he looked down at me. I realized at that instant that he really was tall, as I always found myself looking up anytime I had to look at his face.
I didn't know how long I stood there, my hands on his shoulder as I kept staring at his eyes. There was something about them that felt as if I stared at it for way too long, I was going to disappear in their swirling depths. I knew his dad was going to start seeing changes in less than two hours. All of a sudden, I couldn't stand it. I kept getting lost in his stupidly handsome face instead of doing what I was here to do.
I reluctantly tore my eyes away from him. I had to leave now before I start stirring even the tiniest bit of suspicion. It would look too suspicious if I waited for his dad to start seeing improvements, and seeing how desperate Reid is, he was definitely going to beg me to stay and take care of his dad. I was definitely going to accept, but accepting easily would be way too suspicious. I turned away from him and pushed the door open to pack my medicine. Reid followed me and paused when he saw his dad fast asleep, looking peaceful for probably the first time in a really long time.
I zipped up my bag and stood up.
“I have to leave now… I really appreciate the help and hospitality you showed me these past few days, but I have to leave…”
“No, I mean I haven't gotten the chance to thank you for what you did to my dad.” Reid looked alarmed.
“I haven't exactly done anything compared to what you did to me. I can't thank you enough, but I really do have to leave. My uncle, whom I was looking for, is actually dead, I wanna pay my last respect to him… “ I was surprised at how easily the lie flowed from my mouth.
Reid looked like he wanted to protest, but it would be selfish of him to keep me from going to see my supposed late uncle.
“Sure… permit me to see you off…”
“No, I'm fine, I would find my way myself.” I didn't want him to say anything else as I immediately walked out. He followed me closely, muttering about how he was going to call the beta to drop me off outside the pack's perimeter in case of any more rogues lurking around the pack. I agreed to it.
Everything happened swiftly. I was thanking the beta that dropped me off and watched him turn back. I stood by the road for a few minutes staring back at the road that wound back to the pack I hated with everything in me. Fishing out my phone, I finally sent a text to Axel to tell him about my progress so far. The sky looked grey, as if rain was going to fall any moment from now. Instead of going to the house Axel had rented for me, I hailed another cab.
I wanted to visit my parents' grave. The sky darkened the moment I arrived at the cemetery, and I got out of the cab. I cursed silently within myself when I remembered I was busy being too sentimental to actually bring some flowers along with me. Clutching my bag even tighter, I walked towards the three graves with the stone head.
Axel said he couldn't get my brother's remains, that he had to bury one of his favorite toys right in between my parents. I went on my knees and just stared at their graves.
I didn't know what I wanted to say, I wasn't even sure I could manage out a few words. If I tried to talk, I was more likely to break down in tears, and the last thing I wanna do is to cry and show weakness. I've been weak all my life, and it'll be absurd to show my parents that I'm still yet to change. The atmosphere changed, and rain began falling, but I just stayed there, letting the rain beat me. Hopefully, that way it might try to wash away the sadness that still lingered.
But it didn't. I could feel the anger, the fury, and the regret that had been residing in me for years.
If only I hadn't run away from home, I could have at least died along with them… or maybe if I wasn't so weak to find myself in that fire accident, then maybe my mom would be healthy enough to actually cure Reid's father instead of refusing to treat him, which led to their untimely death.
“I'm sorry I had to be your daughter, maybe things would have been different if I weren't,” I managed out before I stood up and walked back the way I came, the rain still falling heavily. Perhaps it was falling instead of my tears.

I barely placed the plate of pasta on the table when I heard a knock.
Was that Axel?
Taking a forkful of pasta, I walked towards the door as I heard another knock.
“I'm coming…” I called out. I pushed the door open and paused mid-chewing when I saw who was standing there.
I held onto my bag tightly, my heart threatening to beat out of my chest. I tried thinking of whatever I might have possibly left behind on that table, but with the panic in me, I couldn't think straight.Reid turned, and I was speechless for a few seconds when he held up a dead flower that piqued my curiosity a few days back. I was trying to see if it had any medicinal benefits, but I had abandoned it on the table when I couldn't find anything.I was starting to worry that I got busted. I muttered under my breath as I explained what it was. He looked like he didn't understand what I was saying, so I just impatiently glanced at the door. He probably noticed because he dropped the flower back on the table and walked forward, offering to help me with my bag. I was surprised at the kind gesture, but I still let him carry it anyway without uttering a single word. I walked behind him, shutting the door as I took a last glance at the house that was starting to feel familiar despite spending
“Hi there…” Reid said, waving awkwardly. I coughed and almost choked on my pasta. I mean, I did place an internal bet with myself that he was going to show up the instant he saw his dad's health improve, but I wasn't expecting him to be so fast in seeking me out. I walked vacw“What are you doing there?” I asked. Obviously, I knew what he was doing here, but it wouldn't hurt to play along. I opened the door a little wider for him so he could step inside.“Just another personal thank you for your help,” he said, sitting awkwardly on the couch across from me. I sat down and focused on my pasta.“The medicine worked, Valerie,” he said with a smile. I hadn't mentioned this before, but I had given him a fake name during those few days I spent in his pack. Mentioning my full government name can make him remember the female alpha of a certain pack his father destroyed.“I suppose that's a good thing, but it's not a permanent thing; you might have to find something constant for him,” I said,

It took me a whole flipping 3 days for me to start seeing improvements. I could sit up and move around on my own. Reid didn't stop coming to check on me, and I was starting to wonder if he really had nothing else to do. I was standing in front of the mirror in the room, staring at my reflection. My eyes looked lifeless, and my lips drawn into a thin line. I lifted my fingers to run them through my hair, ignoring the slight sting of pain that still lingered around. The door slipped open, and I turned. It was Reid. A maid was right behind him with breakfast. I forced out a smile.“You shouldn't have bothered coming with her…” I said. Deep within me, I was starting to wonder why he was so nice to me. I haven't done anything to warrant such treatment except for the fact that I got flung across the forest five days ago. It almost seemed like I was getting scared for nothing when I was about to enter the Bloodmoon pack.I walked away from the mirror. I was not exactly pleased with my appear
My eyes fluttered open, and I winced as bright light almost blinded my vision. I closed my eyes immediately, raising my hands over my face.I heard a faint sigh and the sound of someone pulling the curtains down. I dropped my hand slowly as I observed my surroundings. The room looked expensive. It was furnished with things that probably cost more than anything I owned. The sweet scent of something hit me immediately. It was a delicious scent of rain, earth, and forest. I finally realized where it was coming from. It was Reid's scent. I've never been near a werewolf whose scent was this overwhelming, not even my dad.I tried to sit up, and I immediately winced at the sharp pain. Reid was at my bedside in seconds.“Easy there, you broke a few ribs from your impact with the tree.” My eyes almost fell out of their socket.Broken ribs? Those fools were paid to give me a few injuries, not totally kill me off. I gritted my teeth as I tried to sit up. Reid's hands gently found mine. My breat
SUMMERS HARTLEY “Definitely, the balance will be sent once the job is completed,” he said and hung up, slipping his phone into his back pocket. The apartment was dimly lit, making it difficult for me to see past a few meters in front of me, but somehow I managed to see Axel's face. His jaw was set hard as he clenched his fist, as if trying to control himself.“The plan is already set, cupcake,” he said, walking up to me with a sad smile and ruffling my hair.“Are you sure you wanna do this? I mean, we can always find a way to go about making sure Derek suffers the consequences of his actions. I don't feel comfortable sending you all alone to someone as ruthless as that fool,” he let out a sigh and removed his glasses, pinching the bridge of his nose as if he was trying not to break down.“I've never been so sure of anything in my life, Uncle. I'm going to be fine. I didn't spend years preparing for this day to just give up now. You don't have to worry about me, ok? I'm just a human g
