Bianca pulled the phone away from her ear to make sure the call hadn't dropped as victor remained quiet but the line was still connected.

"Mr. Ashford?"

Victor Ashford's voice finally came through, calm and unreadable. "Are you certain?"

Bianca glanced at the picture on her screen again and the little boy's gray eyes stared back at her. "I've never been more certain."

"You saw him yourself?"

"At St. Catherine Medical Center."

"And Serena?"

"She was with him."

Victor said nothing and Bianca frow

  • The Heir He Never Knew   Noah Is Found

"Noah!"Serena's voice echoed through the apartment but there was no answer and her heart slammed against her ribs as she rushed into the hallway leading to the bedrooms. "Noah!"She flung open the first bedroom door but the bed was neatly made and the closet stood empty. She checked under the bed even though she knew a five-year-old couldn't disappear into thin air but saw nothing. She ran to the guest room and it was empty even the bathroom and the laundry room. Her breathing became shallow. "Noah!" she screamed again, her voice breaking. She stumbled back into the living room, her eyes darting wildly around the apartment, his toy blocks were still scattered across the rug and the little dinosaur lay on its side. One of his tiny sneakers had fallen beside the couch, he hadn't taken anything with him.Her hands shook so violently that she nearly dropped her phone while calling Ethan. He answered on the second ring. "Serena?""He... he's gone."His voice immediately changed. "What hap

  • The Heir He Never Knew   The envelope

Adrian didn't sleep and long after the lights of the city had dimmed, he remained in his study with a glass of untouched whiskey sitting beside his laptop.Adrian eyes weren't on the screen anymore, they were fixed on the wall ahead, but his mind was trapped five years in the past.Victor had met Serena that day and that much was no longer a question but the question was why.His grandfather had warned him to stop investigating, yet the security footage only made him want answers even more.A soft knock broke the silence. "It's open."Daniel stepped inside carrying a tablet and another folder. "I apologize for the late hour, sir.""If you've found something, the hour doesn't matter."Daniel placed the folder on the desk. "I spoke with the apartment building's former manager."Adrian straightened in his chair. "And?""He retired two years ago, but he remembered your case.""What did he say?""He found it strange."Adrian frowned. "Explain.""The day Miss Hayes disappeared, several peop

  • The Heir He Never Knew   The Lie Between Us

Victor's words lingered in the office long after he finished speaking but Adrian didn't look away.He had spent his entire life respecting the man standing before him. Victor Ashford was many things...ruthless, calculating, impossible to deceive but never careless with his words.Today, he had slipped and Adrian slowly rose from his chair. "Whose lie?"Victor's expression remained unreadable. "What?""You said everything I believed about Serena was a lie." Adrian folded his arms. "Whose lie was it?"The older man walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city.."The past is buried for a reason.""I didn't ask about the past.""I know what you asked.""Then answer me."Victor remained silent and the silence irritated Adrian more than any argument could have."For five years," Adrian continued, "I believed Serena walked away because she'd found someone else."Victor said nothing. "I believed she left me a letter."Still nothing. "I believed she chose another life."Victo

"I thought you'd be pleased.""Why would I be pleased?""Because you've finally found Adrian's biological heir."The old man let out a slow breath. "You've made one mistake."Bianca's eyebrows knitted together. "What mistake?""You assumed this conversation should continue."Before she could respond, the call ended and she stared at her phone in disbelief, her irritation quickly turned into curiosity because his reaction wasn't what she expected.A man as obsessed with the Ashford bloodline

  • The Heir He Never Knew   The Woman Who Shouldn't Be Here

The air inside Dr. Brooks' office seemed to disappear and Serena stared at the nurse, her fingers tightening instinctively around Noah's small hand."Someone?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper and the nurse nodded. "Yes, he asked for Noah Hayes."Serena's heartbeat thundered in her ears and only one thought entered her mind, Adrian had found them. She had been careful and avoided the places they used to visit, stayed away from the Ashford estate, and kept her return known to as few people as possible, so how had he found them already?"Mama?"Noah looked up at her, confused by the sudden change in her expression but she forced herself to smile, though it felt brittle. "It's nothing."It was a lie and Dr. Brooks noticed the color drain from Serena's face. "Do you know who it is?"Serena couldn't answer because she wasn't even sure she wanted to know.Ethan stepped forward. "I'll go."She looked at him immediately. "No.""If it's Adrian, walking out there yourself won't he

  • The Heir He Never Knew   No Time to Look Back

The drive from the hotel was quiet and Noah sat in the back seat, humming to himself as he played with the small dinosaur Adrian had picked up from the gift shop near the restaurant before handing it to him after the incident by the pond.Serena hadn't wanted Noah to accept it but refusing a harmless gift after Adrian had just saved her son would have drawn unnecessary attention. Now, every time Noah made the dinosaur roar, it reminded her of the man she had spent five years running from.Ethan glanced at her from behind the wheel. "You've been staring out that window for fifteen minutes.""I know.""You want to tell me what's going on in that head of yours?"She let out a weary sigh. "I made a mistake.""You didn't.""I should never have let Noah wander off.""Nothing happened.""Something almost happened."Ethan kept his eyes on the road. "Serena."She didn't answer. "Look at me."Slowly, she turned toward him. "He doesn't know.""You don't know that.""I do.""He kept looking at No
