Josie pov

Ronan didn't sleep in this room. I was relieved about that. He's such a brute, and his temper scares me. Last night, he almost choked me and dragged me out of the room. Such a dick, really. Are all lycans males like that?

There was a knock on my door, and a maid entered.

"Good morning, my lady," she said, eyes cast to the floor. I got out of bed and stood. "Lady Gigi requests a meeting with you and his majesty in his office at 10. 30 A.M," she said, for once glancing around the room, maybe to check for his 'majesty.' I scoffed involuntarily, and her eyes widened.

I opened my mouth to speak, but no words escaped me. I only nodded, and she left the room. I went to take a shower, put on a pleated skirt, a vest top, and flats, and fixed my hair before leaving the bedroom. I stood outside the door for a long time. I was suddenly scared again.

"I don't have all day, let's go," I heard a gruff voice say, and I gasped, turning my head. My husband stood a few feet from me, looking impatient in a black suit. He could pass as a gentleman, but he was far from that.

He glanced at me and without saying a word, he started walking to his grandmother's office. I had a hard time keeping up with his long legs.

Lady Genevive was beautiful with black and silver hair swept into an elegant knot. She is wearing a white tailored suit that makes her look more like a CEO than a dowager queen.

"Good morning, children,"

Ronan didn't respond, he was pissed.

"I left a meeting for this," Ronan said, sitting in a chair in front of a large mahogany table, and I did the same. The door opened, and Princess Flora walked in. She beamed when she saw me.

"Hi, Josie!" We exchanged pleasantries. She wore a polka-dot dress over her black pants and ballet shoes, and her hair was in big puffs with fake butterflies.

"Have you told them?" she asked her grandmother as she kissed the back of Ronan's head, and to my shock, a smile formed on his lips, his face softened.

Oh...

"Told us what?" he gritted his teeth. There we are, the indifferent expression was back.

"The welcome party for Josie. I think the pack should meet her, don't you think?"

"Hell, no," he growled, and my heart skipped in fright. "I've done enough. I'm not doing more."

"It's not your party, big brother. It's Josie's. All you have to do is stand by her side," Flora shrugged her shoulders, sipping a matcha.

"Elders are speaking, little wolf, shh," Her brother scolded gently. Her face was set in an unhappy frown, but she didn't speak again.

Lady Gigi was not taking no for an answer, and Ronan was glaring at me, as if it was my idea! He left the office brooding.

"Dear, you should get ready for the party tonight. Everything will be arranged for you."

"Yes, my lady,"

"Call me Gigi," she said, and I nodded, even though calling her by her nickname would feel strange to me.

Ronan's POV

My frustration and hate towards that human were growing. She was the reason my life and everyone else's were being disrupted. Since she got here, most people have moved to the other pack house a few meters away so as not to scare her, because, according to her father, she didn't even know of our existence until recently.

Now, there would be a fucking party in her honor, and we couldn't be ourselves because of her.

"I've gathered the pack members," Jalen, my beta, said. He was also my best friend since childhood.

I faced everyone. "As you all may know, I got married to a human. She's at the mansion, but obviously, as time goes by, she will want to explore the pack and learn more about you. Be cautious, and avoid shifting around her."

"Are you kidding me? All that for a human?" A voice in the crowd sneered.

"Yeah, we hate humans. Why would we accommodate her needs?" a warrior said.

"I don't like them either, but if you shift or lose control of your inner lycans around her and she is hurt or dead, there is no treaty between the humans and the lycans," I explained.

"We are so much stronger than the humans. We don't need this treaty, my king!" an old man shouted, and others agreed.

Jalen stepped forward. "No matter how wealthy or strong we are, we need the humans too, and it is time for peace in this kingdom," he told them calmly, and there were murmurs.

"Just treat her like a valuable package," I said, and they nodded, dispersing.

Jalen looked at me and then laughed, " A package, really?"

"Just a package," I clapped his shoulder, and we walked back to the mansion.

"A pretty package. My two cousins wouldn't stop talking about her beauty and innocence," he said, and suddenly, I became furious to hear that, and my lycan was restless. He didn't want any male having thoughts of her. My mind went to the damned emerald ring around her finger. Does it have meaning? Did a man give it to her?

"I think I need a ring," I told Jalen. When I married Josie, I didn't put a ring on her finger. I should, it's only right. She belongs to me, even though I don't want her to.

A guard at the mansion suddenly ran to us. "What is it?" I asked urgently.

"Your highness, Miss Sadie is about to attack your wife," he reported. My whole body tensed, and something I had felt in years slithered through me. Fear, it could only be.

I didn't answer and dashed to the packhouse.

  • The Lycan King And His Mate   Going To Help

Ever since the center opened, I have been feeling unwell and just worried about Ronan. I have asked Jalen about the reports at the border, but he said everything is alright and they killed who ambushed him, and his injuries caused by the silver dagger were healed.I also discovered they were hit with a storm. They are measures put in place to keep them safe, but they would still need help. I plan to go there to bring supplies for them and the nearby affected village.Secretary Jane has already agreed to it and has given us trucks of grain and other foodstuffs. However, I wasn't allowed at the border as Luna Queen. Ronan and I couldn't go to a dangerous place together since what happened eight years ago. But I wanted to go and see if he was alright since I hadn't heard anything from him. I know I shouldn't be so worried, especially since he had a mate, but I was. Lady Gigi's cool eyes were on me, not believing my excuse that I wanted to oversee aid distribution. "The villagers near t

  • The Lycan King And His Mate   Center

Josie POVFounded by Her Majesty, Luna Queen Victoria Devanci Osborn. I read the stone at the entrance of the new building. I was at the grand reopening ceremony of the White Moon Haven Warriors Center. The lycan king was away, and the dowager queen couldn't make it, so I was sent in their stead. The center was built for wounded warriors, retired and their families who had lost their loved ones. It provided housing, medical care, and employment for those who have sacrificed for this great pack. It was one of the projects started by the former lycan Queen. Flora looked especially emotional today, probably missing her mother. I pulled her in for a side hug, and she closed her eyes for a moment. "Thank you for being here today," she whispered. "I'm very honored." Everyone in the pack spoke so highly of the late Luna Queen. She was passionate about life and the humanity of everyone. I exhaled and looked at the hundreds of pack members in the hall. My stomach twisted."Smile," Autumn

  • The Lycan King And His Mate   Betrayed

JosieI was scared by what I heard. My heart was racing as I imagined the worst. One of the lycans said he was attacked. I called Ronan's number again, but he didn't pick up."I'm worried about my brother," Flora cried for a long time, her body trembling. I hugged her tighter. She finally got out of my embrace, her eyes relieved. "He's fine," she said. "How do you know?" I asked, my hands slightly trembling. "I mindlinked him just now. They were ambushed, but they killed the assailants," she said, and I felt relief course through me. Then her face turned frowning. "Brother is injured with a silver dagger, though." A silver dagger is the only weapon that can cause a lycan true pain, and sometimes can even kill them. "He's lycan is healing him," she assured me after seeing my worried face. I exhaled in relief. Instead of just staying in the castle, we decided to go to the town square. I tried calling Ronan again, but he didn't answer. Summer linked her arms in mine as we walked to

  • The Lycan King And His Mate   Flowers

Days later, after that phone call, my heart was still flipping. I had a massive smile on my face everywhere I went. I was asked whether I was born with that grin or if all humans are born smiling. I felt silly that I still blushed, and my stomach was in knots with butterflies. I didn't remember having this kid-like feeling before. I saved his number that night and wondered if I should call him. "Should I call him, as in, he called me, it's only right," I said to Kane. He was busy going through some files across from me. Flora was dozing off on the couch in the far corner of the room. I stood, pacing and playing with my phone. "You're still squirming about this? No offense, Luna, but are you sure you're not madly in love with this man?" he asked, eyeing me suspiciously. "No, this is a political marriage. The man has a mate, for Christ's sake. But we are husband and wife, and I swore fealty to him; checking up on one's husband is what people in marriage do. If he's sick or if he dies

  • The Lycan King And His Mate   A Phone Call

Ronan POVThe long-standing war with our rival pack, the Moon, the Black Wood lycan, was getting fiercer each day, but my mind was occupied with thoughts of my human wife. I scoffed, human wife. It still felt surreal just to think about it. Her father was part of the humans who orchestrated the summit attack that killed over twenty elite lyans, including our parents, yet I'm busy pining for his daughter. 'We are not sure if he was part of it,' Rafe refutes. Charlie Atwood served as vice Chancellor at the time, and I believe he was part of it. Stephen and I have managed to kill six human government officials and destroy their families' reputations, but a name remains unrevealed. 'Even if her father was part of it. Josie is not her father. She is kind and good. We've heard reports about the work she is doing in the pack, despite them thinking she is unworthy. She's gaining trust and praise.'Indeed, I've been getting positive reports about her. The cabinet members are deliberately gi

  • The Lycan King And His Mate   You Stole Him!

On Sunday, I visited the packhouse with Flora. They were having a barbecue, and everyone was drinking, eating, and having fun, others are dancing to a fast song. "If you brought me out just so I can confess and tell you who my boyfriend is, you're mistaken. I'm not telling you," Flora said sternly. "I only brought you because you've been confined to your room the whole week, and I thought you needed air." This girl has absolutely refused to reveal her boyfriend's name. Her grandmother grounded her to get her to talk. "Luna, here you are." A tall, thin man brought me a platter of different meats and veggies. "Thank you." "What about me?" Flora complained. The man blushed. "I'll bring you a plate, my princess, forgive me." "No, we'll share, thank you." I smiled. We sat at the bench, in the corner, and away from prying ears. "Have you had sex?" I asked, and she flushed, but shook her head no. "But we've kissed, tongue and all. And he touched my breasts, and my bottom, mu
