LOGINEmilia POV
"Why can't I smell you?"That was the question burning on Wesley's lips as he edged slowly towards me,his breath against my neck sending a wave of electricity through me.He frowned slightly, leaning towards me as his eyes stayed on me as if trying to solve a puzzle.
My heart pounded violently in my chest and I quickly stood up pulling away from him with panic flashing across my face.
His face was devoid of emotion as he raised his head, locking his eyes with mine.
"I'm sorry I don't feel well"my voice trembled with fear spilling into my tone avoiding his piercing gaze. My school bag hung on my shoulders dashing out of the classroom leaving Wesley behind. My heart was beating so fast like a drum as I scooted away from the classroom trembling in fright.
“ What was I running?” That was the question I asked myself as I came to a halt, panting heavily trying to catch my breath in the hallway.
I rolled my eyes at my watch and saw it was closing time .
I quickened my pace and I felt jittery walking all the way home knowing my mother who had an iron fist would be waiting for me..
The thought made my stomach twist.
My anxiety grew with every step I took as I pushed the door open and it was silent like a graveyard.
“Stupid Emilia, what the hell are you doing ?”Those were the words pondering in my mind as my back pushed against the wall sending a nervous tremor through me.
“Wesley was like right there and you are acting like a fucking idiot “ The words echoed painfully in my head with a heavy sigh leaving my lips. The pull the bond between you and Wesley you know what this is and denial won't save you “ My wolf reminded me staring at me clearly unhappy at my actions. My wolf spirit forced her way into my head . I didn't like it because my mother hated me for being a mixed breed ,an offspring between her and a werewolf. It was a reminder of the man who broke her heart and made me a cursed existence.
“Emilia Is your wolf spirit out again ?” My mother threw the question at me,her sharp voice pulling me out of my thoughts shattering the silence as she descended the stairs, her heels clicking sharply against the ground ,each step felt like a warning.
Silence filled the air cracking like a whip as she moved closer, sniffing my scent.
A shiver shot through me.
Her eyes flickered with surprise,, scanning my face as she raised her palm and she struck my cheek hard which made me stumble back.
My jaw tightened and my eyes went wide.
I felt the sting on my cheek and my eyes prickled with tears which streamed down my face.“I told you to stay away from werewolves “she said unsympathetically with a concerned look on her face.
“Mom “ I cried bitterly with tears gathering in my eyes. She took a deep breath, chuckled softly and stroked my hair.
“Your father was a wolf, a lying selfish bastard, “ she said with a wounded look on her face. “They take and then they ruin and then they leave “ her eyes flash clenching her jaw in anger. “Always hungry for attention “she continued, her voice dripping with bitterness brushing her fingers against my cheek. Her words stung piercing through my chest like ice.
She patted my cheek reminding me of
Emilia this is the way it is always been “Mom not everyone is like dad” I mumbled softly, the words escaping my lips like a deadly poison. Her expression hardened as she reached for a potion slowly hidden in her pocket containing a dark liquid.“Drink this, it is stronger and it will erase your scent completely “ she muttered, her fingers curled around the bottle .
My stomach dropped.Every time I drank it,my wolf grew weaker and suffocated inside my own body.
Before I could protest,She grabbed my upper arm, digging her nails into my skin, shoving me roughly against the wall.
I winced in pain, struggling against her firm grip but I was no match for her strength .
She lifted the cap of the liquid forcefully emptying the bitter contents straight into my mouth and I could nearly breathe.
"Mom please not again “ I whispered, choking on air in my lungs as she blinked her eyelids at me. “I'm doing this for you Emilia I won't let them hurt you “ she said flatly as her brows drew together meeting my eyes. I swallowed the contents in my mouth , gulping it slowly under her watchful eye. She looked at me with a satisfied look on her face. My throat ached,my chest tightened as pain exploded through my skin burying my wolf in the shadows.*****************
(At school) I sat at my desk trying to ignore the familiar intoxicating scent curling around me belonging to Wesley who sat right behind me. The potion was blocking my scent but I couldn't block his. “Alright lemme announce the partners for the shakespeare project “ the teacher said and Whispers filled the air and everyone hoped to be paired with their friends.“Emilia Hale and Wesley Blackwood “the teacher called out.
Her announcement hit me like a wind, her words tumbling out of her mouth like a death sentence .My heart sank.
The teacher wore an excited expression on her face and the classroom grew into excited whispers.
A knot of ice formed in the base of my spine.
A chair scraped against the floor echoing in my ears and Wesley leaned closer with a satisfied predatory look in his eyes.“Guess you are stuck again with me Emilia” he said with a slow grin spreading across his face.
I turned my head only to see his lips curved into a thick smirk .
My pulse heightened.
This can't be happening” I thought to myself as the teacher's words hammered into my heart like a curse. The potion could hide my scent but not the bond and now I was stuck with the person I was trying to avoid.
Emilia's POVThe academy had never been quieter.Even after the Shadow Beasts disappeared, fear lingered in every corner of Willowbrook. Broken windows, scorched stone walls, and pools of black blood stood as stark reminders that the academy was no longer the sanctuary everyone had once believed it to be.Wesley carried me through the deserted corridor, refusing to let me walk despite my protests."I can manage," I murmured."You collapsed less than five minutes ago.""I'm feeling better."He glanced down at me, one dark eyebrow raised."You've said that three times today."I sighed."And you've ignored me three times."A faint smile touched the corner of his lips."I intend to keep doing that."I rolled my eyes, though I couldn't suppress my own smile. His heartbeat was steady beneath my cheek, reassuring in a way I couldn't explain. For the first time since arriving at Willowbrook, I did not feel alone. The infirmary doors opened as the school nurse hurried toward us."Oh, Goddess..
Emilia's POVEverything happened in an instant. The spear of black energy tore through the underground shelter, aimed directly at my heart.I could not move.Fear held me in place as the hooded figure’s cold laughter echoed through the chamber.“So this is the child of prophecy,” the stranger mocked. “How disappointing.”“EMILIA!”Wesley’s roar shook the shelter.Without hesitation, he lunged in front of me, his partially shifted body becoming my shield.BOOM!The spear struck his chest with devastating force.A violent explosion ripped through the chamber, sending students crashing against the stone walls. Dust and shattered rock rained from the ceiling as screams erupted in every direction.“Wesley!” I cried. His body skidded across the floor before slamming into one of the ancient pillars. Blood trickled from the corner of his lips as dark magic spread across his chest like poisonous vines.“No... no, please...”I ran to him and dropped to my knees beside him.His breathing was sha
Emilia's POVThe academy descended into chaos.Students poured into the hallways, their panicked cries echoing through every corridor. Teachers shouted orders, desperately trying to restore order, but fear spread faster than any attempt to contain it.I stood frozen as another explosion shook the eastern wing.Dust drifted from the ceiling."What is happening?" I whispered.Wesley's gaze remained fixed on the burning tower."The academy barrier has been breached. That should be impossible."Liam tightened his grip on the ancient book."It wasn't broken from the outside."Both Wesley and I turned to him."What do you mean?" I asked.Liam had gone pale."The barrier spell can only be destroyed if someone inside Willowbrook weakens its magical core."The realization struck us all at once."There is a traitor," Wesley growled.Another deafening blast echoed from outside. The windows shattered simultaneously.Students screamed as shards of glass scattered across the floor.A flock of black
Emilia's POVSleep would not come.No matter how tightly I shut my eyes, my thoughts kept returning to everything that had happened over the past few days.Darian's rejection. The poison.Wesley's protection. And the unfamiliar warmth that settled in my chest whenever he was near.I turned onto my side with a quiet sigh."You're thinking about him again," my wolf teased."I'm not.""Liar."I pressed my face into my pillow."He doesn't even know I'm his mate.""Not yet."Before I could respond, a piercing scream echoed through the girls' dormitory.I sat up at once.A second scream followed.Students spilled into the hallway in a panic."What happened?""Someone's been attacked!"I quickly pulled on my jacket and hurried outside, ignoring the dull ache in my ankle. The corridor was crowded with frightened students.A first-year witch lay unconscious near the staircase.Dark purple veins spread across her neck like twisted vines.Teachers gathered around her while the school healer exam
Emilia's POVThe silence in the infirmary had become unbearable.Poison.The word repeated relentlessly in my mind.Someone had tried to hurt me.My fingers instinctively tightened around the edge of the bed as I stared at the bottle Liam had placed on the table."There must be some mistake," I whispered.Liam shook his head."I examined it with a detection spell. There is no mistake."The room fell silent once more.Wesley's jaw tightened, and the air around him seemed to grow colder."Whoever did this wasn't trying to make you sick," he said quietly."They wanted you out of the championship."I swallowed hard."But... why me?"His silver eyes met mine."Because you're becoming a threat."I frowned."A threat?""You exceeded expectations the moment you stepped onto that court. Now you're my partner, and that has made you a target."I looked down at my bandaged ankle.Everything had happened so quickly.Only a week ago, I had dreamed of beginning a new life at Willowbrook.Instead, I
Poisoned IntentionsEmilia's POVThe afternoon sun beat down on the outdoor tennis courts as Coach Harrison blew his whistle."Ten laps around the track!" he barked. "After that, you'll begin endurance drills with your assigned partners."A chorus of groans rose from the team, but no one dared complain.I tightened my ponytail before beginning my run.Beside me, Wesley matched my pace effortlessly. His breathing remained steady while mine grew heavier with each lap."You don't have to keep up with me," I muttered. He glanced at me from the corner of his eye."I know.""Then why are you?"A faint smile touched the corner of his lips."Because partners don't leave each other behind."His words caught me off guard. No one had ever said anything like that to me before. For years, I had been the one sacrificing for everyone else. For Darian. For my mother. For everyone except myself.Somehow, Wesley made protecting me sound... natural.Across the field, Chloe watched us with narrowed eyes.
Emilia POV Flashback “Ah babe I'm bleeding “ I whimpered in pain as the knife sliced through my palm with something metallic dripping on the floor.I was preparing Darian's favorite meal as he had been fantasizing about the particular delicacy earlier in the afternoon. After closing from the ball
Emilia POV "Oh I'm sorry he only drinks kale smoothies after matches" I whispered to the bar attendant who lowered his head, passing me a genuine smile before walking away. That was the rule for Darian Scott,my boyfriend who was the cynosure of all eyes which made every girl's heart leap at the ra
Emilia POV "Are you always this nervous or is it because of me ?" Wesley asked, his tone dead serious as he wore a straight expression staring at me.The words struck me like a knife seeping into my bones. My heart thumped wildly in my chest as heat flooded through my skin making my stomach churn.S
