LOGINWithout realizing it, Elena’s shoulder brushed lightly against a smooth part of the wall. To her shock, it slid open with a soft whoosh.
She gasped and stepped back, eyes wide.
“What on earth...?”
Curious now, she stepped forward and peeked in. The room beyond looked completely different warm, elegant, and quiet. Her footsteps echoed gently as she walked in. The moment she entered fully, the lights flicked on by themselves, slowly brightening the space.
She blinked in surprise, taking it all in... a long, indoor pool stretched out before her, calm and perfectly still.
But what made her freeze was what hung on the far wall.
Her breath caught.
Her eyes locked on a massive framed portrait..bold and striking. A woman in a black dress, her face hidden behind a gold mask.
Elena’s lips parted in shock.
“It’s me...” she whispered. “It’s me.”
Her heartbeat quickened.
She stepped closer, drawn to it like a magnet. Her fingers gently brushed the edge of the frame as she stared, stunned. The memory of that night flickered in her mind...the mask, the dress, the way he had held her that night......and the mystery.
''Why does he have me on his wall?''
''How did he even know it was me?''
She stood there in silence, confused, overwhelmed... and deeply unsettled.
..........As Elena stood there staring at the portrait, her fingertips gently brushed over the edge of the frame, still lost in shock.
“It’s me…” she whispered again, confused, overwhelmed.
Then.......a deep voice cut through the silence like a blade.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Elena gasped, her body jolting as her hand slipped.
The portrait tilted forward, teetering on the edge and then crashed to the floor with a loud shatter.
She froze in horror.
Glass sprayed across the floor in all directions.
Mr. Hughston stood at the entrance, his face twisted in shock and fury.
“What the hell have you done?!” he barked, storming into the room.
“I... I... I’m so sorry, sir,” Elena stammered, already dropping to her knees, her hands trembling as she reached for the broken frame, trying to gather the scattered pieces.
But before she could collect herself, he was there.
He grabbed her by the arm...not gently and yanked her to her feet.
His grip was tight, his face inches from hers.
“How dare you!” he spat. “You have no right to be in here! This room is off limits to everyone!”
“Please.... please, I didn’t mean..I didn't know this room existed...” her voice cracked..
But he didn’t wait for an explanation.
Without a word, he dragged her out, storming down the stairs. Elena winced, trying to keep up with his furious pace, her feet stumbling.
They reached the lower floor. With one final shove, he pushed her forward. Elena lost balance and fell to the ground with a thud.
“Get out!” he shouted, his voice thundering through the hall.
“Get OUT of my house!”Elena looked up at him, wide-eyed and breathless, her heart pounding...
''I don't ever want to see you here again. You're fired!!''
He slammed the door shut hardly behind her.
“Damn it!” he growled, slamming his fist against the wall.He stood there for a moment, clenching his jaw and breathing heavily.
Then, turning abruptly, he stormed back down the hallway, running a hand through his hair, fingers raking furiously as anger burned in his chest.Thank you for taking this journey with me for every page you turned, every emotion you felt and every moment you shared with these characters. They had already been at the valley for almost seven hours now, freshened up and full from their long day of exploring…..After touring around and soaking in the calm of the evening, they ended up in the jacuzzi with warm bubbles rising around them as the night breeze swept softly over the water and onto their skin… Elena leaned back with a relaxed sigh, her eyes half-closed as she rested her head against Damien’s shoulder. Just as the evening settled into quiet comfort, Damien’s phone began to ring. Elena stretched out her soapy hand to grab it since it was resting beside her. “Here,” she said, handing it to him. The screen lit up with a video call, and Mr Chris’s face suddenly filled the frame. “Mr. Hughson!” he blurted out, talking fast even before Damien’s face appeared. “I was at your office, and I haven’t seen you. Hope all is well, sir.” His tone was serious as he peered straight into the camera… When Damien’s face finally came into view, Mr Chris's eyes widened. “Oh! You'r
Elena had just gotten off the phone with Mr Hughston, who had been away in Sweden for the past two weeks on work. She quickly got up from the bed and hurried to freshen up for the girls’ dinner with her old university friends.Sienna had already left earlier, saying she needed to make sure the venue was set up as planned. Elena was annoyed that she’d gone without her and now felt a bit reluctant to get ready at all…She picked up her already pressed, flowy, floor-length dress in a soft ivory shade, the one she and Sienna had bought together a week ago for the reunion dinner. They both knew everyone would be dressing to impress, so they hadn’t held back either. Elena’s dress had clean, graceful lines with subtle lace detailing around the neckline and a delicate scalloped edge that added a soft, whimsical touch.Slipping the dress on, it hugged her curves perfectly at the waist, falling beautifully down her legs. Elena smiled faintly at her reflection, then sat in front of the mirror to
Just like he had promised, he was already at the house knocking on the door. He stood there calm and patient waiting for it to open. On the third knock the door finally opened and it was Sienna who stepped out. She looked a bit startled to see him, flustered and caught off guard. “Mr… Mr Hughston,” she stammered, feeling shy to even meet his eyes…It was her first time seeing the most talked about man in person….Damien gave a small nod and greeted softly, “Hello.” Then without wasting a second, he asked, “Can I see Miss Elena?”.. After Sienna told him she hadn’t heard from Elena either and had been worriedly trying to reach her for a week now, Damien’s own worry grew heavier. The only thing left for him to do now was wait….just wait for a call, a message, anything from her.Walking through the hall of his apartment, Damien’s entire focus was on his phone when Nathaniel came rushing over after exploring his father’s new apartment.“Dad,” he muttered softly, pulling Damien out of his
Victoria’s hands dropped instantly, her body freezing in place. She turned sharply toward the voice only to see her son standing at the gate, staring dead at her.For a moment, neither of them moved. The silence felt heavier than the air itself. Victoria’s eyes widened as if she had just seen a ghost and she took a deep, shaky breath, trying to steady herself and used her trembling hands to brush her gown as if to fix it.“Nathaniel…I…..I thought you were asleep….ohhhhh” she said trying to brush off what had just happened, pretending he hadn't seen anything at all…"I saw everything, Mum…" Nathaniel muttered sharply and pulled away before she could touch him… Ray had already quickly slipped out before Victoria could gather some words…“You’re cheating on Dad too…..with him…”Nathaniel muttered, his eyes burned into hers, filled with the kind of disappointment that made Victoria’s stomach twist. For a second, she couldn't look back at him and she slowly turned away, not facing him and
Elena moved around the room, desperately searching for a way out after hearing her phone ringing downstairs countless times since yesterday. Ray hadn’t returned since he left that morning, and she knew this was one of her few chances to escape before he came back. She rushed to the door and twisted the knob again, but it wouldn’t budge. She threw her shoulder against the wooden frame, trying harder this time.Feeling frustrated, she pressed her forehead against the door and let out a shaky sigh. “Come on…” she whispered under her breath, hitting the door lightly with her fist.Just then, the sound of a car pulling into the driveway made her freeze. Her heart jumped to her throat. She ran to the window, peeking through the curtains to see who it was…praying it wasn’t him but it was him…He stepped out of the car, slamming the door shut, smiling as someone else stepped out. Elena straightened immediately, squinting to see who it was.At first, she couldn’t make out the face since the p
The morning didn’t look too great for some, and for others… it just felt like waiting for the day to pass. Mr. Hughston was already out in the dawn. He sat bare-chested on his horse, his muscles flexing with every movement. His six-pack moved with the rhythm of the ride, and his eyes stayed sharp
"Damn it!” Vivienne hissed, storming across her bedroom. “How the hell did I mess this up?” Her hands flew into her hair, pulling the strands so much as her breath came in fast, angry bursts. She paused only to slam the drawer shut with a sharp bang. “I just hope I’m not kicked out of this damn h
It was barely 8 a.m., and Elena already had a headache.Something about the silence in the house felt… suspicious. She moved cautiously through the hallway, her instincts screaming that Nathaniel was up to something. Again.Just as she stepped into the back patio.. There was a splashA bucket tilt
He pulled closer to her almost as if wanting to kiss her.“Please, Elena…” Ray whispered with a low desperate voice “Give me another chance for the sake of everything we dreamed.” Elena quickly glanced around to make sure no one was coming. “Dream?” she said sharply, her voice thick with disbelie
