The old pack doctor handed me an ultrasound report stamped with a spirit vein seal.

I took the parchment, gently rubbing the reddish mark with my thumb.

My heart finally settled. The Crimson Moon bloodline was secure.

I folded the report carefully and put it in the inner pocket of my black trench coat.

I pushed open the clinic door, but before I could reach the end of the hallway, someone blocked my way.

"What? That useless, unmarked Omega actually got knocked up?"

Jasmine.

I glared at her. "Get out of my way."

"You dare insult me?" Jasmine's perfectly made-up face twisted, but she quickly put on a winner's arrogant sneer.

She glanced at the clinic sign behind me and scoffed. "Stop pretending. I could smell your cheap pregnancy herbs from blocks away. But do you really think having some bastard pup makes you special?"

I ignored her provocation and tried to walk past her.

Jasmine suddenly stepped forward, pulled out her phone, and turned the volume to the max.

The screen lit up. Caleb's voice, full of deep affection and indulgence, echoed abruptly in the hallway.

"Jasmine, give me a little more time. Once the territory is fully secured, I'll kick that useless Omega out. I'll use all the territory's resources to throw you the grandest mating ceremony. You're the only Luna I acknowledge."

The recording ended.

The hallway went dead silent.

I looked at the phone.

My heart didn't sting like I expected; there was only a sickening numbness.

Once the territory is fully secured?

The very territory he was offering another woman was built with my own two hands.

The "resources" he planned to use for their mating ceremony were funded by my private wealth.

He was using my blood, sweat, and tears to please his first love.

Caleb, you really are something else.

"Hear that?" Jasmine put her phone away, looking down at me. "Caleb would never want a pup from a lowly Omega. Your existence will only taint his noble bloodline."

As she spoke, she slowly unzipped her expensive crocodile leather bag. The price of that bag could feed Caleb's pack for half a year.

She pulled out a blood test report stamped by the city's most authoritative werewolf hospital, her eyes flashing with crazy triumph.

Twin high-ranking wolf pups, strong heartbeats. Seven weeks pregnant.

"I'm pregnant too." Jasmine stroked her flat stomach, her smile venomous. "Caleb was thrilled. He already bought out all the top-tier maternity supplies in the city. My pups are the true heirs. So, you better abort yours, don't embarrass yourself."

I looked down, my eyes locking onto the date on the report.

Seven weeks.

Jasmine came back a month ago. That's four weeks.

Before that, she was in the Winter City up north.

If she was carrying Caleb's pups, it would be four weeks at most. How could it be seven weeks?

Not to mention the report was stamped by the local City Werewolf Hospital.

The timeline and location didn't match up at all.

But I said nothing. It wasn't time to tear off her mask yet.

"Think about it," Jasmine patted my shoulder. "Before things get out of hand."

She turned, the sound of her heels clicking away.

I crumpled the fake report in my hand.

You claim you got pregnant seven weeks ago in Winter City, but the scan is from a local clinic.

"Jasmine Vance, what game are you playing?"
