CHAPTER 4 - THE LYCAN EMERGES

Sharp pain slices through my chest, making me gasp. But without a wolf, I couldn’t experience the full pain of breaking a bond.

Caspian falls to his knees, clawing at his chest, blood seeps through his chest down his hands.

I take a step towards him then stop. I stand there watching him gasp in pain. The one who had been my safe haven since I was six and had lost my father to exile.

His friends go down trying to stop him from clawing at his chest. I clench my hands into fist to keep myself from pushing Melody away from him.

She shoots an accusing look at me. What? Okay it’s bad now that I said it first.

The pack members start closing in around us, looks of accusations thrown at me and I try not to shrink into myself.

Caspian looks up at me, his eyes dark with raw pain. Fur begins sprouting out of his skin and I take a step back.

When he begins getting back to his feet, I turn and run back to the packhouse.

I push open the packhouse door, trying not to fall flat on my face. The whole world for some reason, kept spinning around me. My head is pounding, painfully.

With heat spreading through me, my whole body felt like it was on fire. The cool air of the night coming through the windows does nothing to quench it.

I stumble through the sitting room to the kitchen, with the intention of getting some ice. My hand closes around the handle of the fridge and when I pull it open, the whole door comes off with it.

I stared at it open-mouthed, but I didn’t have time to dwell on it because intense pain began to flood through my body.

“Goddess please!” I cry out.

I reach for the Ice filled bowl, but just as my hand touches the rim, my legs give out. I go down, the bowl of Ice coming down with me.

Sounds of broken glass fills the place but no one comes because everyone is at the field.

The heat and pain makes it hard to breathe and I find myself gasping for breath. My hand reaches out…

To the goddess? To the mate I rejected? I don’t know.

Snap!

“Goddess!” I shout when my arm bends at an unnatural angle.

Then my knee shifted, intense pain shooting through me.

It finally dawned on me. I’m finally having my shift.

I tried to stand, to get to my room. But the pain was too intense, my back ached on the floor.

Silver fur shot out of my hands. I could feel my body expanding.

Tears rolled down my eyes from both pain and excitement.

When the pain finally stopped, I was covered in silver fur. I looked around, everything was brighter than usual.

The tiny dead spider on the left side of the wall close to the ceiling was clearly visible now. My ears perked up, the noise from the Bonding moon filtering into my ears.

Are my senses supposed to be this heightened?

Slowly I pushed myself up but inside of standing on all fours, I found myself standing tall on two hunched feet.

My head grazes the ceiling to the point where I have to bend over to be more comfortable.

I reach up to touch my snout, letting out a growl instead of a gasp when I find it longer. Longer than normal.

Slowly, on unsteady massive feet I turn towards the mirror hung on the wall in the sitting room.

A massive Silver furred Lycan stares at me, its eyes filled with horror.

As the lowest Ranking Omega, I have never had the chance of travelling out and meeting other children of the goddess. So my knowledge of Lycantropy comes from books.

But one thing I knew was Omegas never got to be lycans. The shock of my reflection had me staggering back into the refrigerator.

It comes crashing down with a loud sound. My ears narrow into a sound in a nearby distance.

Footsteps quickly coming closer.

My heartbeat increases, the pack guards nearby must be coming to check what happened.

Suddenly I feel myself being pushed down subconsciously.

What’s happening?!

A low growl answers from within.

Soon enough, I find myself looking at things but with a certain drowsiness. My limbs begin moving on their own without my permission.

I ran into the main part of the pack house before I knew it. The packdoor opens and the pack guards burst in.

There’s a moment of pause as their eyes find mine, their mouths drop open. My body doesn’t give them time to respond, I’m running towards the side wall.

I close my eyes.

There’s a moment of pain spreading through my front. I feel the wall in front give way then the cool caress of the night breeze.

When I open my eyes, I run deep into the forest away from the pack house, the field, Cassiel, Liora and closer to the pack border.

CHAPTER 18 - ARE YOU HAPPY WITH HIM ELARIS After leaving Sarah’s cottage, I don't waste time in informing the Lycans of our immediate departure. Luckily there isn't a fuss, as they are all tired of the pack already anyway. I go looking for Liora but meet Cassiel on the way. He raises an eyebrow when he sees me at the Alpha wing. “I came to inform Liora that I would be leaving,” I say. He rubs his eyes. “Liora has traveled.” I feel a twinge of disappointment. “Again?” I had been hoping to see her before I left. “She told you about her travels?” he asks. “She did tell me she has been traveling..” He perks. “She told you where?” I shake my head, intending on the promise I made to Liora. “No.” He eyes me. “You’re hiding something.” I fold my arms over my chest, realize I'm being defensive then drop them. “What makes you think that?” He startles me by taking a quick desperate step toward me, his scent overflooding my senses and I resist the urge to take one back. For a moment, I think she isn't going to speak until she says, “I met…my mate on the day of the moon ritual.”Happiness washes over me. “Oh wow, that's great news!” I exclaim but her expression is still solemn. My brows furrow. “Isn’t it a good thing? He’s perfect.” A smile takes over her face but it drops. “It’s just that he’s a rogue.”I blink. “Oh.”The Ash mere pack still runs on the old traditions. The council enforces them up till today, it was so surprising that they had accepted that much human technology in the clinic. They don't accept rogues into the pack no matter what. You’re not with me. Are you trying to get your pack to talk about me or what?” His voice comes out strained, “I’m trying to help you.” Cassiel reaches out for the items in my hands but I move away “I can help myself. You should be asleep Alpha, you have pack duties to run tomorrow. If anyone is supposed to be cooking, isn't it an Omega?” He takes a step closer. “We no longer allow Omegas to stay up late for work, nor do they do other stressful activities.” I blink rapidly. “

I can't afford to break the bond right now, it would weaken me. My pack needs me right now, please understand.” “Alright. So what you mean is that you won't break it until your pack recovers from the blight?” He swallows. “I can't.” I wave my hand. “That’s fine. I will give my blood for the pack.” His eyes widens, and he sits straighter. “You will?” I nod. “Yes, but you have to break the bond right after.” There’s silence then, “I will.” “You have to swear it.” “I have no reason to hold onto the bond anymore.” Right, he’s with Melody while I'm with Malrik. My throat tightens, why does this still hurt? “Very well,” I rise from the

When we step into it, the pup is already laid on a stretcher and is being rushed somewhere by the pack doctors. “Cover her nose! Cover her nose!” the mother sobs. The nose mask she’s wearing barely muffles it. “Maybe it’s the blight. I don't want her getting infected please.” They open a ward door and she tries to follow them inside but one of the doctors blocks her. “Wait outside, we can't have you in here for the examination.” She stares emptily at them and they close the door behind her. Her eyes remains fixed on the door for what felt like forever before she crumbles to the floor. She pulls her dress up to her mouth to stifle the sound of her cries. “Goddess please, she’s too young. Too young. Don't do this to me, I beg you.” My thr

I wouldn't advise you to get back with him, but Malrik…” she shakes her head. “He isn't the answer either. The way I see it, you are with our High Lycan because you feel you owe it to him.”“It’s not like that,” I say weakly.“Then it’s like what then? Be with Malrik if you love him, but it’s not too late to break off things if you don't. It’s not fair to him, neither is it fair to you.”Soon after, I left Mali’s house and went back to Malrik. After waiting for a long time and no sign of Malrik, I went to find him at the pack house when a knock came on the door.I open it to see it's one of the Lycan warriors, he bows his head a bit. “High Lycan Malrik said I should
