I was quietly walking on the grass bare footed watching all the pack members getting in and out of the pack house in hurry, I scoffed seeing their excitement as if the invited guest is someone very special and close to the pack but rather he was the enemy who would have already attacked on our pack if it wasn’t the tension caused by the rogues who were attacking the packs in group causing the disaster and it was getting difficult for the council to put end to this, hence they decided to bring all the packs to one platform in order to strengthen ourselves against rogues, whose strength was increasing day by day and our wolves were getting weak and lower in numbers. ‘Lilith, if you cannot help them than it is better to go in to your room’ while I was engrossed in my thoughts, my mom’s screeching voice made me flinch and I looked at her with annoyance but followed her order quietly and starts heading towards the pack house, target was to get in to my room and relax. ‘It will be better if you won’t show up in front of Caleb, his pack is way stronger than ours and introducing you as our daughter will make us look ugly in front of him’ I pressed my lips tightly and nodded not bothering to look at her, she does not realize how much her words had broken me. ‘Rest assure, I am not interested in meeting to your guest’ my eyes were welled up and tears were ready to spill down on my cheeks, to hide them I run towards the stairs, ignoring every member in surrounding and stopped only when I was inside the comfort of my room. ‘I am so sorry Lilith’ I heard the shaken voice of Irene, she is my wolf who appeared at my sixteenth birthday but was unable to shift and since then I was bullied by my school mates and pack members, everyone calling me the insult for the pack even my parents feel disgust. ‘No, Irene. It is not your fault, it is theirs. Who don’t love their own child and think that I am an insult for them just because you couldn’t shift’ I wiped the tears from my cheeks and hiccupped. I still remember the night of my sixteenth birthday, I was so excited to have my wolf and thought that once I will shift and being an Alpha blood my wolf would be strong it may make my parents happy and I might receive their love and care then, as you see I was the first born of the Alpha and Luna of Greenwood pack when they wanted the boy who can run their pack after them. My father had not talk to me ever and my mom well she only does when have to warn me or had to inform me about what I have to do when there are guests in the pack house. At the night of my sixteenth birthday I was so excited, although I was alone none of parents were beside me to help or guide but well I was aware of this because they don’t care how my shifting goes, but when Irene appears and told me that she can’t shift right now in fact will only do when the right time will come I won’t lie, I was little disappoint as I lost the chance to make my parents happy but I was glad that I had found a friend, someone very close to me. Next day when I told this to my parents, it was quickly spread in the whole pack that I couldn’t shift and I am a weak wolf and since then my life has become more miserable. ‘They think that we are weak when in real we are way stronger than all of them, it is just about the time’ I heard her saying faintly. I know my mom’s harsh words not only breaks my heart they hurt Irene as well, she blames herself for all the bullying and hateful stares. ‘Don’t feel hurt Irene. We have each other, we don’t want any other person. Everyone will mock us’ I said to her, knowing very well what she will respond to me. ‘No Lilith, we want our mate. Our other half and it will complete us’ I rolled my eyes, after the behavior I have witnessed in my pack I have lost all hopes about my mate and his pack, the places are different only the mind and thoughts of people are always same they don’t differ just because they live on different lands. ‘You believe he will pamper us?’ I asked curiously. ‘Yes, we will be mates, no matter what differences we will have they will love us and will find us beautiful even if we are unable to shifts. That’s how the mate thing works’ I nodded, after listening to her my heart also fluttered and I wished for my mate to come soon. After our little conversation I stood from the floor and went in to the washroom to fresh myself, after taking a shower I changes in to my comfy clothes, yellow sweat shirt and beneath was a jeans shorts, wearing the flip flop I switched on the hair dryer to dry my mid length hair. After that I applied a lotion on my hands and cream on my face and was ready to go to my bed. Since we have guest today and I am not allowed to go out it was best to read the book while enjoying the softness of my bed. I picked the romance book from my collection that was very well organized on the shelf near above study table on the wall. A crease formed on my forehead when I heard the loud knock on my door, instinctively my eyes connected to the wall hanging in my room and I concluded that the special guest of my parents had arrived and they won’t be happy to see me, hence I ignored the knock with the thought that someone might had did that by mistake, but I was jerked up when another loud bang echoed and this time with the angry voice of my mom. ‘We did not do anything wrong, right Irene?’ I asked from her for the sake of confirmation. ‘Yes, we are in the room since she asked us to’ like my mom hates me, Irene hates her too, according to her she don’t deserves to be my mom but well, what one can do. I rushed to open the door before she has to yell my name again. ‘Yes mother?’ her presence outside my room was a big shock for me when she should have been standing beside my father to welcome the people of the Creek Star Pack. She was giving me weird look as if judging my dress. ‘What the hell are you wearing?’ the dislike was clear in her voice. ‘I was going on the bed’ I answered her hesitantly, her screening eyes were making me lose my confidence. ‘It will take you long to change, forget it. Come with me Caleb wants to meet you’ she was mumbling quietly thinking that I won’t be able to hear her when she should know that I clearly heard her but I will not correct her, I was done with them and had let them think what they please to. ‘Why?’ she holds my arm and starts dragging me with her, it never happens before that any guest has shown interest to meet me, what this Caleb man was up to? Soon we were standing outside the office of my father, I was irritated to be drag like that but all my annoyance went away when I inhaled the masculine scent mix of musk and aquatic, it was so sophisticated. I turned my head to look at my mother in shock but she was not looking at me, as usual not caring what I am feeling. The door was opened by the beta of our pack and I could see the three man sitting on the couches. My eyes were moving to all of them, I could sense the excitement of Irene, she was jumping in my head. ‘Our mate is here Lilith our mate is here’ I bit my lower lip to hide the smile. ‘She is your elder daughter, Oberon?’ my eyes flick to look at the man and at the same time he looked at me, our eyes met and I did not realize that I had blurted out so loudly calling him as my mate.Nickolas removed the dusty blanket that covered his old pick up truck. It hadn't been used in a while and he worried that it might not do the distance. But he hoped that it could at the very east carry him to the gas station. He walked around the truck and opened the drivers seat, only to have more dust fall on his boots as the door opened. The truck smelled musky and the interior was covered with more dust. Two things happen as he put his full weight on the worn out leather seat. Firstly, more dust jumped up and the springs from underneath him complained from lack of use. As he put the key in the ignition, the truck gave a feeble whine but did not start. After a few tries and a worn out patience, the truck came to life. He pulled out of the ranch and into the dirt road. Nickolas would have preferred riding on horseback than inside the truck in such searing heat but he preferd not to stand out as he approched the enemy. After what felt like ages but which had
Nickolas was beside himself with worry. He went to a room downstairs that was kept for the monitoring of the ranch, but with the ranch not having as much activity, they hardly ever went to the monitors but he needed answers. He played the tape back to the previous day when he last saw Grace. On the screen he could see himself when he went into her suit but there were not cameras inside the suits, that was mainly to protect the privacy of the occupants. Not long after he left her, she had gone out, only to come back running and closed the door behind. Something must have scared her. He wondered if she had seen Owen anywhere, but he remembered the log book that Lilith had shown him, new guests had arrived and it there was nothing out of the ordinary about the two couples and a mother with her daughter. He was ready to give up when at the corner of his eye, he caught movement on the tape. A bulky man appeared on the screen, he looked around the floor before he started for
It was only after six in the morning, but the little town that surrounded the ranch was already up and sinning. Nickolas stood next to the chestnut stallion, Florence, on a hill overlooking the ranch below. It had been a long night outside, and he was tired. After seeing that the guests were fed and enjoying themselves, he had taken the horse to his place of solitude. The place was on the hill above the ranch. When he needed to think, he came up here and sat against the weathered oak tree that had seen too many suns and rains. Last night, he had done the same thing. There was nothing like sleeping under the canopy of the stars to think; after what happened with the stables burning down, he had a lot of thinking to do. The fire in itself hadn’t made him suspicious; it was only later, when he was walking around the barn, that he noticed the hose that was supposed to be used in an emergency had been cut off. When he enquired from one of his men, Jason. The young man said that the h
Grace raced past Nickolas and bolted straight in the ranch's direction. “Shit.” Nicholas sighed. He knew he had just blown his one and only chance to impress her. He debated between chasing after her and letting her cool off. Before he could decide, Jason appeared, panicked and breathless. “Sir…” he shouted as he came closer to Nickolas. And Nickolas was struck by the look on the young man’s face. “What is it?” he asked and decided against loading him with questions. Jason was not quick with his mind. When he had something important to say, if you were interested, it was always best to give him time to gather his wits about and let him tell you at his own pace. Once he had reached his boss, he crunched next to him, to catch his breath. “A fire-“ he wheezed. “Where?” Nickolas couldn’t wait for him to finish the sentence but looked up, and accurate enough, there was smoke rising to the sky. Panic seeped through him, and he broke into a run, letting the smoke le

“But you don’t have your ring on?” “Oh, Ohm.” Emily said, regarding her hand. It was an odd thing to notice, but she was not used to the ring; it was too flashy for her simple taste. “I noticed you had on a stunning rock last night.” Mark tried to make the situation light. He shook his head to c
