Cole's Pov

The drive home from Priya’s clinic was quiet. Sienna held my hand almost the entire way, never letting go once, and I wanted to tell her I was fine, that she didn’t need to worry so much. But after everything Priya had said, I knew those words would only make things worse right now.

When we reached the estate, Ava ran toward us the moment we walked through the door. “Daddy!”

I smiled and picked her up. “Hi, princess.”

She wrapped her arms around my neck. “Were you at the doctor?”

Sienna’s PovI woke up slowly and smiled when I realized Cole was already awake beside me, staring up at the ceiling.“What are you thinking about?” I asked, turning toward him.“Paint.”I laughed. “Paint?”“We’re finally starting the renovations today.”“I’ve been looking forward to it.”“So have I.” He leaned over and kissed my forehead. “Good morning.”“Good morning.”A small knock came from the bedroom door. “Daddy?”Cole smiled immediately. “Come in.”The door opened, and Ava walked in carrying her stuffed teddy bear. “Are we going to the house today?”“We are.”She climbed onto the bed between us. “I’m going to help.”Cole looked at me. “I suddenly became very worried.”I laughed. “I think we should be.”Ava crossed her arms seriously. “I can paint.”“I believe you.”“I painted turtles at school.”“I remember.”“So I’m basically a professional.”We both laughed. “Then we’re in very good hands,” I told her.Two hours later we arrived at the lakeside house. Roman’s car was already

Sienna’s PovThe house outside the city had quickly become our favorite place. It still needed repairs, the walls still needed fresh paint, and the kitchen still looked old and worn. None of that mattered. Every weekend we spent a few hours there making plans, Ava having already claimed the biggest bedroom upstairs, insisting the backyard needed a swing, a treehouse, and a small garden where she wanted to grow strawberries.Cole agreed to all of it without a single argument.“I think you’re spoiling her,” I said, watching Ava run outside with Nate to measure where the treehouse should go.“I definitely am.”“You didn’t even try to argue.”“I don’t want to.”“You realize she’s going to ask for even more now.”“I hope she does,” he said, smiling.I laughed. “You’re impossible.”“I’ve accepted that about myself.”He picked up a paint sample from the table. “What do you think about this color?”“It’s nice, but too dark.”“So we’re not buying it?”“No.”“Okay,” he said simply, nodding.“Y

Cole’s povAfter meeting Margaret, none of us quite knew what to say. Sienna was still holding the old photograph of Gerald, and she’d looked at it so many times over the last hour that I thought she must have memorized every line of his face by now. Margaret sat quietly across from us, not rushing anything, not asking for answers she hadn’t earned yet. She simply waited.Roman finally broke the silence. “I think everyone needs a break for a bit.”Sienna nodded slowly. “I do.”Margaret stood immediately. “I understand completely.” She looked at Sienna gently. “I’ve waited years already. I can wait a little longer.”“You really don’t expect anything from me?” Sienna asked, looking up at her.“No.”“Not even forgiveness?”“My dear,” Margaret said, her voice warm, “I haven’t done anything that needs forgiving.”“I frightened you,” Sienna said.“You didn’t know me.”“I should have introduced myself properly, from the start.”“You were scared,” Margaret said simply. “So were you.”Sienna l

Sienna’s PovI was helping Ava with breakfast when my phone rang, Roman’s name flashing across the screen. I answered right away.“Good morning.”“It isn’t,” he said, and my smile disappeared instantly.“What happened?”“We identified the woman.”I glanced at Cole, who was pouring juice into Ava’s glass, and he noticed my expression the second I looked up. “What is it?” he mouthed. I held up one finger and turned back to the phone.“The woman outside Ava’s school? You know who she is?”“We do.”“Who, Roman?”There was a short pause on the line. “Can you come to the estate? I’d rather explain this in person.”“I’ll be there.”I hung up, and Cole was already watching me closely. “Roman?”“They found her.”He set the juice down immediately. “I’m coming with you.”“You don’t even know what this is about yet.”“I know enough.”Ava looked between the two of us, sensing the shift in the room. “Where are you going?”I forced a smile for her sake. “We just have to go meet Uncle Roman for a bit

Sienna’s Pov The morning after we returned from the little house outside the city, I got a message from June. Can we meet today? I stared at the screen for a few seconds before typing back. Of course. An hour later, I walked into our favorite café and found her already sitting by the window, two cups of coffee waiting on the table. She smiled the moment she saw me. “I ordered your favorite.” “You still remember,” I said, sitting across from her. “I always will.” I wrapped both hands around the warm cup, and for a few minutes neither of us said anything, just letting the quiet settle comfortably between us the way it always had. “You look happier,” June finally said. “I think I am.” “I haven’t seen that smile in years, Sienna. Not like this.” “I didn’t realize it had been that noticeable.” “I noticed.” She studied my face carefully. “You’re sleeping better too. You don’t look like you’re carrying the whole world on your shoulders anymore.” I laughed softly. “
