MasukALEXA
“Let go of her, right now!”
That was Noelle’s voice, and it was what brought me back to reality. Everyone present at the club was now looking at us, and Mark’s hand still held onto my wrist possessively…and painfully.
“Let her go, Mark,” Noelle ordered again when it seemed as though Mark was deaf to her orders.
“Stay out of this,” Mark eventually said, glaring at Noelle. His voice was throaty and husky, and I wondered if it was as a result of what happened between the two of us; if he felt it too, or if it was as a result of his anger.
“Why should I?” Noelle asked, facing Mark fearlessly and boldly.
She had never liked him, and knowing Noelle the way I did, I knew that she would definitely use this opportunity to get at Mark for what he made me go through. She hardly ever saw him, because she could not stand his presence.
“Last time I checked, she was your ex-wife, Mark,” Noelle added.
Mark smirked. “You are mistaken, Noelle,” he simply said, leaving Noelle’s eyes to budge out in shock and confusion, and she turned to me quickly.
“Alexa?” Noelle called out, demanding some sort of answers from me immediately, and I knew that I just had to step in.
I could not continue to just keep quiet and not say a word. Clearly, Mark intended to rile Noelle up, and also, he intended to ruin the fun that we were here to have, and I was not going to allow that to happen.
I snatched my arm away from Mark’s grip and looked at him with bitterness and anger, which wasn’t even hard to do because all he did to me were still fresh and hurtful.
“I divorced you, Mark,” I told Mark, loud enough for Noelle and everyone to hear.
I began to hear some murmurs from the people watching us, but I would not back down. This was a new me, and I intended to let Mark and everyone know this. Looking at Mark now, I could see how cruel, possessive, and selfish he was. This was his ploy to take control, but for the very first time, I would let him know that he had failed woefully.
“I haven’t signed the divorce papers,” Mark said.
He still had that disgusting smirk on his face, and his tone was nothing short of condescending and aggravating, which was just the typical Mark Ronaldo.
“And you will,” I said without flinching or stuttering.
I guessed my tone and the confidence in the sound of my voice took Mark by surprise, because I did catch a flicker of astonishment before it was gone.
“So this is what you intend to do with your life? Get away from me and whore around the city like a loose dog?” Mark asked insultingly.
Rarely had he finished the question before my palm connected with his cheek in a loud smack and everyone gushed in shock. Even Mark was too stunned to respond at first, and I glared at him, waiting and daring him to return the favor.
“You should have just let her be, Mark,” Noelle chipped in. “Now see how embarrassed you have ended up,” Noelle added.
She quickly moved me away from Mark’s presence and stood in my place, so when Mark gazed his eyes upon me again, it was Noelle that he was looking at.
“Alexa is no longer your wife and she is pleased to do whatever she likes with her life. The Dancing Devil is a place for anyone who can afford it, and if you dare try to attack, harass, confront, or even speak to her again, I will have the securities throw you out and demand that the management keep you out of this place for a really long time,” Noelle added threateningly.
With that, without even waiting for Mark to say a word in his defense, she turned to me and led me to our booked chamber, and the ten men who had been hired by Noelle climbed the mini-stage in our chamber and began to entertain us as though nothing had happened.
“You would really do that?” I asked Noelle, because to me, that threat seemed somewhat extreme, and knowing how stubborn and daring Mark was, he might actually take her up on that threat, and if she failed to deliver, it would blow up in our faces.
“I don’t know, and I guess I wouldn’t even need to,” Noelle answered, feeling very proud and accomplished.
“Why?” I asked, almost confused.
“Because your ex-husband has returned to his table with his friends, whom I am certain are going to make jest of him,” Noelle said.
Noelle hardly knew the kind of man Mark Ronaldo was; no matter how badly you came at him, his friends would never have the balls to make jest of the situation or make him feel terrible. I had seen how they were around him a couple of times, and they literally worshipped the ground he walked on, but I decided not to deflate Noelle’s confidence with that piece of information.
“He still hasn’t signed the papers, which means that we are still married, and he is upset because it was his money I spent for all these,” I told Noelle.
“Come on, Alexa, can you stop talking about that asshole for a minute and just focus on what is in front of you?” Noelle asked, referring to the ten men who were gliding and whining sensually. “Look, if you are going to make Mark feel like a piece of shit tonight, you will have to actually ogle these men and do something wild. I bet his eyes are still glued to you,” Noelle added.
I made the mistake of turning to check just to confirm, and true to Noelle’s words, Mark was looking at us, as our eyes connected from our tables apart.
I swallowed and looked away. Then I said to Noelle, “You know what, you are right.”
“Yes, girl, work it!” Noelle said loudly like a drunken woman, urging me on.
With that, I grabbed some money from my purse, climbed up the stage and allowed some of the men to flirt with me while they danced and I sprayed them without a single fuck in the world.
MARK“They will be right out in a second,” Mona told me.I nodded. Then she came and sat really close to me. I didn’t push her away or act uncomfortably. On the contrary, I allowed Mona to think that she had gotten exactly what she wanted from me.If she couldn’t succeed with Ace, she certainly couldn’t succeed with me.Ace told us what he had had to endure with Mona in their few years of marriage, and that included cheating.“I am not upset with you, Mark, because you are not the only man she cheated on me with. Right on our matrimonial bed, Mona was having sex with another man,” Ace had told us. “You have no idea how relieved I am that I was able to free myself from her and move on. I don’t ever want anything to do with her,” Ace had added. He had said a couple of other things, but one thing he hadn’t done was discourage me from being with Mona. However, I knew enough now to know that I would never want to be with her, even if Alexa wasn’t in the picture.Noelle was right.I had Ale
MARKWhile we waited for the plane to be ready for us, I caught sight of Noelle a few feet from us. She had taken a walk away from Vector and me.Without hesitation, I walked up to her.Noelle seemed to be doing something with her phone, and so engrossed was she that she didn’t notice my presence.“Hey, Noelle,” I called calmly.Still, Noelle jerked in shock.“I am sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you,” I apologized.“No, Mark, it’s fine. I just didn’t see you coming,” Noelle said, turning to face me.And that was when I saw that she was troubled. Instantly, I became worried about her.“Is everything okay, Noelle?” I asked her worriedly.“Yeah,” Noelle answered with a heavy sigh, but I just didn’t believe her.Not when she was having that look.“Come on, Noelle. I know that we have not always seen eye to eye, and we are not friends, but you can tell me if something is wrong,” I cajoled her tenderly.Noelle sighed again. It was as though something heavy was weighing her down.Again, I n
MARKSince Ace walked into his living room and started talking to us, his last statement was the first time I caught regret in his voice.Even when he mentioned Mona’s name before then, he didn’t sound embittered or upset. He simply sounded like a man who couldn’t care less.“Why would you say that?” Noelle asked Ace, speaking for the first time. And it was at the same time that I asked a question too.“Why did you leave her?”Ace stared at us, probably wondering what question to answer first, but Noelle and I didn’t plan to ask at the same time. Instead of answering, Ace had questions of his own.“Why are you really here, Mark Ronaldo?” Ace asked deeply. For the first time, he was sounding like a man speaking to the other guy whom his girlfriend cheated on him with in business school, and that made me slightly uncomfortable.Unfortunately, I felt worse answering his question.Ace already said that his greatest regret was marrying Mona. Well, I wasn’t married to her yet but I also had
MARKFinding Mona’s ex-husband as soon as we got to Toronto was one of the easiest thing to do. Even though I did say that it wasn’t a risk that was worth taking, Noelle made me get a private plane, and two hours later, all three of us were in Toronto.“Mr. Ace will see you soon,” a woman in her mid fifties told us.She appeared to be his house manager.Apparently, Ace was in his private gym when we arrived. The good thing was that we were allowed into his premises, and I couldn’t deny how successful he had become.Well, Ace wasn’t exactly poor, or maybe it was because I never really paid attention to him. He was my rival back then, and I didn’t usually concern myself about my rivals. The only way I would have concerned myself with him was if he was my rival in business.“I really hope this is worth it, and that we are able to get back to Paris before it gets dark,” I said in a low voice, almost impatiently. At lot of things were at stake if this didn’t go well.“Have some faith, Mark
ALEXA“Hey, honey, are you okay?” A voice asked me.I was sitting on a bench at a park. I could see a little child playing without a care in the world a few feet from me. The child wasn’t being supervised and I didn’t know whose child he or she was; I couldn’t even tell the gender.I turned to the voice and realized that it was my dad.My eyes lit up instantly.“Dad!” I called out, but I didn’t stand to my feet to hug him or do anything. But I was very happy to see him, and he could tell from the look in my eyes.“I have missed you so much, dad,” I added, my voice instantly thickening with emotions.“Can I sit beside you?” He asked me.“Yes, yes, sure,” I responded without hesitation. He sat down, but I noticed that he kept some distance between us. However, I didn’t bother him about it or ask him to come closer to me. It was just the both of us at the park now...oh, the child playing too.My dad and I stared at the child for a couple of minutes in silence.Everything was peaceful and
MARKSuddenly, Noelle became the only one with a working brain, and Vector and I didn’t have a choice but to listen to her.“What way is that?” Vector and I asked at the same time.“We should speak with Mona’s ex-husband,” Noelle stated firmly and confidently. And it just felt as though all the confidence I had in her died instantly. What did she mean by that?I stared at Vector, and it was the same time that he also stared at me. Vector didn’t also understand what Noelle was getting at. Apparently, we both expected more from Noelle, but her statement just seemed to make us disappointed.“Aren’t you going to ask why?” Noelle asked, staring at Vector and me.This was the first time that she was even looking at Vector since she walked into his living room some minutes ago.“Why?” I asked.“First of all, we will get to know if the Toronto tradition is true or Mona and her parents just made it up, and secondly, maybe we could find something to hold against her,” Noelle explained. The firs
MARKI had just finished going through the last document I intended to work on when Vector called me.“Vector,” I said into the phone.“Have you gone to bed yet?” Vector asked me.“Not yet, why do you ask?” I asked.“I was thinking we could hang out at Dancing Devils tonight,” Vector suggested. “It

ALEXAI watched Mark leave, and still couldn’t tear my eyes away from the door until Donald held my hand and squeezed it gently.Affectionately.“Huh?” I said dumbly, turning to him as though he had said something to me.He smiled instead.“Down to earth, Alexa,” he said nicely.I shook my head to
ALEXAMark was so polite that I found myself sitting down, but that didn’t mean that I still wasn’t upset with him.“I am listening,” I said tightly.Mark sat down as well and cleared his throat.“Yesterday was hectic for me,” he started, and it pissed me right off, because that was the exact excus
