Chapter 1
Vanessa "Don't you think you should wear something that accentuates your curves?" Lillian asked as she lay sprawled across my bed, staring at the ceiling. "You are supposed to be helping me, remember?" I muttered, tossing another outfit back into my wardrobe. I'd been searching for something gorgeous to wear to the bonfire, but every single thing I picked up looked awful. Lillian sat up and shook her head. "Why don't you just wear a normal dress? You don't have to wear something oversized to cover up your body. Vanessa, your figure is beautiful, and I wish I was half as curvy as you are." "You're just saying that to be nice," I replied. Lillian rolled her eyes dramatically. "Why would I lie about something like that?" "Because you're my best friend, and that's what best friends do. They make us feel better." She placed a hand on her chest, a dramatic look spreading across her face. "Girl, I am not trying to make you feel better. You are so beautiful, and I'm tired of trying to convince you." She got out of the bed and stood in front of me. "I look like the letter I. Do you seriously want to look like me?" "Yes," I replied without a second thought. Lillian had no idea what I was willing to give to have a body as beautiful as hers. She fell back onto the bed. "You have no idea what you're saying." She pulled out her phone, and I went back to arranging my clothes and looking for something suitable to wear. After a moment, Lillian spoke. "Have you seen Cole's I*******m?" "Uhm... no. Why?" She got off the bed quickly, rushed to my side, and literally pushed the phone so close to my eyes. It felt like she wanted to dip the phone into my eyes. "Are you trying to blind me?" I said, pulling back and taking the phone from her hand. "He is so fucking fine," Lillian said, almost drooling over him. "Amen to that," I replied in a low voice. Cole was on a treadmill, and he was looking unrealistically handsome. "I want him. I want him so badly," Lillian said, but I could care less about what she was saying right now. I just kept watching as the sweat dripped from his abs. I handed her phone back because I knew if I kept staring at him, I was going to start having unrealistic fantasies, and I wasn't ready for that. "Do you know how long it's been since someone has fucked me?" Lillian said. I couldn't stop myself from laughing. "No one needs to know that information," I replied. "Cole and his brother don't give a rat's ass about any of us. We just happen to go to the same school. They're on another level of cool, they're from a Lycan bloodline, and they're ridiculously rich. Lillian, they do not care about us." She bit her bottom lip. "I can make him care about me." "Ew," I replied. "Those two are proud and pompous. They carry themselves like they're better than everybody else." "But aren't they?" Lillian asked with a straight face. I groaned. "I just want him to fuck me," she added. "I want him to fuck me so hard I forget all my life problems." "Yeah, I'm done having this conversation." I changed into a hoodie and a pair of washed jeans. "Can we go now?" "What the fuck are you wearing?" "Clothes," I replied. "Girl, you look like a charity case. Why are you trying so hard to hide your body?" She lifted both hands before I could even answer. "You know what? Don't answer that. I don't need to know. Whatever it is, I don't want to know. As long as your body is covered and you are comfortable looking like you're from a sad TV show, let's go." The drive to the bonfire took almost thirty minutes, and it wasn't what I was expecting. The entire senior class had shown up. I thought it was only going to be a few of us, but I guess I was wrong. I sat beside Lillian, and three minutes into being here, I regretted ever agreeing to come to something like this. I should have just stayed at home in my bed without any pants on. I shoved my hands into the pocket of my hoodie. Everyone was chatting and laughing. Lillian was still on Cole's page. I leaned in and whispered, "You know he's not that hot, right?" Well, I knew I was fucking lying to myself, but I didn't like his personality. I had Spanish class with him, and every single time, his nonchalant attitude irritated me. "I want him so bad, girl. I've been so horny, and I need a man. A real man." I couldn't stop myself from laughing. But Lillian was actually so beautiful, and she had the perfect shape. She was slim, had a tiny waist, and could definitely get any guy she wanted. But he was an ass. "Do you think they're coming tonight?" she asked. I shook my head. "Nah. They don't come to things like this. They're too cool for that." "Is Nathan coming?" she asked. I immediately shook my head, disappointment settling in my chest. Nathan and I had been going through a rough patch, and I really wanted to see him, but he kept avoiding me. "You people have been dating for how long? Six months, and every single time he acts like he doesn't know you when he's with his friends. That's not fair, Vanessa." "Don't worry about Nathan and me. He loves me, and I love him too." "Sure, whatever you say." Suddenly, everyone's phones buzzed all at once, and everybody's attention immediately moved to their screens. I sat there looking confused. Lillian turned her head slowly to look at me, and she had this look of horror written all over her face. Everyone's gaze was now on me. I didn't understand what was going on. "What is it?" Lillian turned her phone, showing me her screen, and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a sex tape of Nathan and me.Chapter 5VanessaThe moment we stepped into the hallway, everyone's eyes were on us. Whispers came from left, right, and center. People were pulling out their phones and taking pictures.Cole held my hand, and when we got to his locker, he acted like not a single soul was in that hallway. He stood in front of me and tucked my hair behind my ears. He leaned in, and I was pretty sure everyone standing around us thought he said something romantic, but in truth, he told me not to forget to breathe. And I was blushing so hard I could actually feel my face beginning to warm up."I need to go now," he said softly. "I have a class. Can I kiss you?"Before I could even give an answer, his lips already captured mine, and I literally felt all the air leave my lungs. His lips were so soft, and our mouths moved in perfect harmony. I didn't know when I wrapped my arms around his neck, forgetting we were in school. The sound of the bell brought us back to reality.Cole moved back slowly."See you d
Chapter 4Vanessa"Vanessa, your ride to school is here!" Mom yelled from downstairs. What the hell did she mean by my ride? My father was the one who always took me to school, or... sometimes I used the bus.I walked to the window of my room. I pushed the curtain aside and looked down. A big-ass Jeep was parked in front of my house with Cole leaning on it in school uniform, and for a moment I couldn't stop looking at him. He looked so... good.I shook my head quickly."What the hell? Stop that," I whispered to myself. And what was he doing at my house? The better question was how he even got my freaking address."Vanessa!" my mom screamed my name again."I'm coming!" I yelled right back at her.I took my bag off my bed and rushed out of my room. When I was finally downstairs, I found my mom in the kitchen. She was leaning against the counter, a cup of coffee in her hand and the wildest smile on her lips."Who is he?" she asked."Nobody," I replied."So Mr. Nobody is now waiting to ta
Chapter 3VanessaI sat in front of the mirror, just staring at my reflection as my mother did my hair."I know you don't want to go back to school," my mother said in a quiet voice, "but we can't afford switching your schools right now, or even moving out of town like you suggested. All those things cost money, money we don't have."I understood what she was trying to say, but at the same time, it made me even more angry because all the humiliation I was going to face was something that could have been easily avoided if we just moved out of town."I know, Mom," I responded quietly.I wasn't sure she even heard the words that left my mouth. She packed my hair into a messy bun, allowing some strands to fall over my face."You look so beautiful."She leaned in, her head resting on my shoulder, a broad smile on her lips, but her eyes held a sadness she was trying so hard to hide. Then she moved back."When you're ready, your dad is going to drop you off, okay?"I nodded. She gave me one
Chapter 2Vanessa "Vanessa... Vanessa...""Could you maybe continue?" the therapist said, and I felt my palms becoming even sweatier."You stopped at everyone getting the video sent to them except you."So, continue."She was patient. Her voice was so calm, and even with all the anxiety I felt, I still felt a little calmer with her.Everyone started laughing and pointing at me. It was a whole lot.The more I spoke about it, the more everything started coming back. It was so vivid, and I was reliving that moment again, and I didn't want to."Can I go now?" I asked, my voice cracking."Vanessa, this is a two-hour session. You've been here for only one hour.""I'm tired of this. I do not need therapy. Therapy isn't helping," I yelled, my palms dripping with sweat, my heart racing so fast."You experienced something traumatic, and it takes a lot for people to come back from what you did.""It happened a month ago. I'm fine.""No, you're not. Your parents told me you haven't been eating p
