After the SAT, my daughter turned into something I didn't recognize. She repeatedly stabbed her grandmother, who had raised her, until the old woman bled to death. She pushed her little brother from the tenth floor and killed him on the spot. My wife and I tried to talk her down, our voices shaking, but she only laughed. "Grandma and Caleb were too good to me. That's why they had to die! And you two worked so hard to raise me. You paid for my education and gave me everything. You were too good to me, so you have to die!" Then she set us on fire. I closed my eyes in despair. When I opened them again, I was back one week before my daughter's SAT. This time, I installed a hidden camera in her bedroom. I didn't care what it took. I was going to find out why she killed us. When my wife and I watched the footage later, neither of us could say a word.

Chapter 1

I had always thought that once my daughter Willow Gilbert finished the SAT, we could finally breathe again.

Preparing for that test had taken over our family's lives.

Willow focused on studying, while the rest of us handled everything else.

I worked. My mother-in-law, Katherine Bates, got up at 5 a.m. every morning to cook Willow breakfast. My wife, Naomi Gilbert, drove her to school every day, no matter the weather. Even my son, Caleb Gilbert, knew not to interrupt her.

For 12 years, everything we did revolved around Willow. We were all waiting for it to be over so we could finally relax, maybe take a trip together.

I never imagined that the night the test ended, our sweet, obedient daughter would suddenly turn into a monster and slaughter our entire family.

"You were too good to me, so you have to die!"

The words were etched so deeply into my mind that even after being reborn, I still couldn't shake them.

The terror still clung to me. I couldn't understand how Willow had become a killer overnight.

So the afternoon I came back, I ordered a hidden camera for same-day delivery and had it installed in a corner of her room while the house was empty.

Before dinner, I told Naomi and Katherine about the camera.

Katherine frowned as soon as I finished. "Willow's almost an adult. Privacy matters at her age. If she finds out, she'll be very upset."

Naomi nodded. "And her SAT is in a week. This is the worst time to distract her. What if it affects her performance?"

I pressed my nails into my palm and told them what had happened in my past life.

Katherine didn't believe me. "I raised that girl. I know her better than anyone. She won't even hurt a fly! Are you telling me she stabbed me to death? Jeremy, you've been under too much stress. You're letting a nightmare get to you. Naomi, give him a shoulder rub. He needs to relax. We still have seven days to get through."

Naomi stepped closer, but I shook my head.

"I'm telling the truth…"

I was interrupted by the front door opening.

Willow was home.

She walked in wearing her school uniform, her face tired in that way seniors get during exam season. When she saw Naomi standing behind me, hands on my shoulders, she came over right away.

"Dad, are you not feeling well?" she asked. "I can help, too."
