I couldn't believe what had just happened. As I ran inside, my mind raced. It could only have been my dick of an ex-boyfriend, but how did he find me so fast? I never told him where I grew up. Yeah, he knew I had a brother, but Nick and I rarely talked. I grumbled to myself until I heard another voice calling my name. "Hey, Vick!" one of the club girls shouted. I think her name was Jen. "You okay? Did Death hurt you?" she questioned. At the mention of his name, I tensed and quickly whispered, "No." "Oh, well, me and some of the girls saw you run in here and figured he must have done something for you to run into the clubhouse that fast." I forced a smile at her question. "No, he didn't hurt me. Just a rough day." Jen looked relieved and nodded. "Alright, if you need anything, we're here." "Thanks," I said, appreciating her concern. As she walked away, I took a deep breath. I needed to figure out how my ex found me so quickly and what I was going to do next. I made my way toward my room, which was conveniently right next to my brother's. I thanked God that he didn't really sleep here. As I closed the door behind me, I braced myself against it. Today had been going so well. I had managed to get a little alone time with Death, but I couldn't really speak to him. And then there was the scene at the boutique. I sighed. Just as I was about to get up, I heard a knock on my door. Slowly, I opened it and was surprised to see Death himself standing there. He looked everywhere but at me until he said, "I just came to check and see how you're doing." Not wasting this opportunity, I pulled the big, gruff man inside and slammed the door. He stood there, stunned by my sudden action, until I ran and threw myself at him. As I suspected, he caught me, peering into my eyes before I slammed my lips down on his. For a moment, he hesitated, but then he kissed me back, his grip tightening around my waist. When we finally broke apart, both of us were breathing heavily. "Vick," he murmured, his voice strained. "This isn't a good idea." "Maybe not," I replied, looking up into his stormy blue eyes. "But it's the only thing that feels right." He shook his head slightly as if trying to clear his thoughts. "You're brother will kill me I may be named death but I do not have a death wish". I placed a hand on his cheek, feeling the rough stubble under my fingers. "I know. But right now, I need this. I need you." He stared at me for a long moment, and then, with a resigned sigh, he pulled me closer, his lips finding mine once more. He tasted like danger, and I knew this was wrong. For Christ's sake, I just got out of one bad situation—I didn't need to involve myself in another. But something about him called to me. From the moment I saw him, I knew he wasn't who others perceived him to be. Yes, he brought death to those who needed to die, but he was something else. As we broke apart again, I watched as he slipped back on the mask he usually wore around this place. "I have to go," he stated bluntly, placing me on my feet. He walked out the door without looking back. I stood there, my heart pounding, trying to make sense of the whirlwind of emotions inside me. This wasn't just attraction; it was something deeper, something I couldn't quite grasp yet. I knew I had to be careful, but I also knew that staying away from him was going to be a challenge. As the door closed behind him, I sank down onto my bed I needed to focus on staying safe and figuring out how my ex had found me. But the thought of Death still held me. For now, I had to pull myself together and stay strong. There would be time to sort out these feelings later, once the immediate danger had passed.~Vick~Pain.That was the first thing I felt.It slammed into me the second I started waking up, crawling through every inch of my body like fire beneath my skin.My eyes fluttered open, immediately squeezing shut again as the bright fluorescent lights stabbed into them. A steady beeping echoed beside me, mixed with the low murmur of voices.Hospital.The realization came slowly.I tried to move.Big mistake.A sharp bolt of pain shot through me, forcing a gasp from my lips.“Vick!”I turned my head and found my brother sitting beside the bed. Relief flooded his face so hard it looked like he might actually cry.“Hey,” I croaked. My throat felt like sandpaper. “Where… am I?”“Hospital,” he said quietly, squeezing my hand. “We found you. You’re safe.”Safe.The word felt wrong.Because the second my brain started working again, only one person mattered. My eyes swept across the room. The guys were there.Exhausted.Worried.Watching me like I might disappear. But he wasn’t.My stomach
~death~I'm taking her to the hospital," I stated gruffly. The prez nodded. "I'll be there in a few, after we put this one in the pit," he said, pressing his foot down on Derick's back.I quickly exited the building and headed towards my bike. I maneuvered Vick carefully so she was as comfortable as possible, then sped off.The ride to the hospital felt like an eternity, but I made it there just in time. I rushed through the emergency room doors, Vick cradled in my arms. "She needs help, now!" I barked at the nearest nurse. I quickly explained what happened, excluding the shootout details, and watched as they carried Vick away.Standing there, blood-stained and tense, I felt the weight of everything crash down on me.It felt like hours I had been waiting. The prez and the rest of the guys came rushing through the door, asking if I had heard anything yet.I shook my head, unable to speak, and continued pacing the waiting room. "Please be okay, please be okay," I chanted in my head.Aft
~death~The guys all filed into the prez's office, their faces grim and focused. Prez stood at the head of the table, the envelope in hand."Ok, listen up," he shouted, his voice commanding attention. He placed the envelope on the table. "I just came upon some very important information."Everyone leaned in, eyes locked on the envelope."It seems my sis has been keeping some very important information hidden, probably so her ex wouldn't get it," Prez continued. "But we're going to use this information to find my sister."He opened the envelope, spreading the papers out on the table. "We're going to split up and search every building that's in this information. Kill anyone that gets in your way. Find out whatever you can until we find my fucking sister."I watched as everyone nodded, determination etched on their faces."Ok, let's ride," Prez shouted. Then he looked directly at me. "And Death—I mean the enforcer—I want you to be the ruthless person I know you to be."I swallowed hard a
~death~As I lay on the medical table, all I could think about was Vick. Every moment that passed felt like a dagger twisting in my chest. I couldn't take it anymore. With a groan, I tried to sit up, but Racket's firm hand pushed me back down."I can't stay here. I need to go find her," I insisted, my voice strained with desperation."How the hell are you going to find her if you bleed out? Sit down and let me patch you up!" Racket shouted, frustration and concern etched across his face. But I couldn't stay put. Every second wasted could be used to find her. Just as I was about to push past Racket, the door to the room swung open with a force that made the hinges creak."Sit the fuck down and let Racket do his job!" the prez shouted, his eyes blazing as he glared at me."Look, Prez, I can't. They captured Vick because of me. If I was paying attention, she wouldn't—"The prez cut me off with a sad, understanding look. "I know, Death. You did all you could to protect her. If Ironhead di
~vick~I coughed as someone threw cold water on me."Wake up, sleeping beauty," a voice I knew all too well sneered.I opened my eyes, squinting to adjust to my surroundings. I tried to move, but it was futile; I was tied to a chair. The dim light of the room revealed the gaunt, sharp features of Derick, my ex. His once handsome face was now twisted with cruelty, dark eyes glinting with malice. His hair was slicked back, a far cry from the disheveled look he used to have. A nasty scar ran down his cheek, a souvenir from one of his many fights."Well then, let's get started," Derick said, a sinister smile playing on his lips as he glared at me."What do you want, Derick?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. He stepped closer, his fingers trailing along my cheek in a mockery of affection before he slapped me hard. My head snapped to the side, the sting burning across my face."You think you can just run away from me? You think you can hide with your biker friends and be safe?" He c
~death~"Fuck, fuck, fuck," I muttered to myself, knowing I blew it moment Vick turned her back on me. Her fiery attitude caught me off guard, and I sighed heavily as I headed downstairs.Jen, one of the club whores, passed me and gave me a knowing look. "Oh, you fucked up big time, buddy," she said, shaking her head.I looked at her questioningly as I continued toward the bar. "What do you mean?"She rolled her eyes. "You think we didn't hear? This place is like a damn fishbowl. Everyone knows you and Vick had a thing we just kept it to ourselves and didn't tell the prez, and now it's all blown to hell. You should have seen her face when she came downstairs."I sighed again, rubbing my temples. "Yeah, well, it's complicated.""Doesn't have to be," she replied, leaning against the bar. "You like her, she likes you. Just stop being a dumbass and go after her.""It's not that simple," I said, pouring myself a drink. "Her brother, the situation with her ex... it's all fucked up."Jen shr
~ Vick~ When I heard someone calling my name, I didn't expect it to be Mr. GQ model himself. His intimidating figure stood by the door as he looked at me with those blue eyes that hid something more. "We need to talk," he said, his voice gruff and no-nonsense. I knew my brother had probably to
~death~The next day started off like any other. The guys were outside, tuning up their bikes, while the girls were lounging around, chatting and enjoying the sun. I kept an eye on Vick from a distance. She was talking to Spider and Jen, looking a bit more relaxed than she had in days.Just as I wa
~Vick~After a while in my room, my brother peeked his head in. "Are you okay, sis?"I looked at him and smiled. "I'm okay. I just thank God Death was there. It could've been worse.""Yeah, you're right," he stated."But I don't understand how he found me so fast. I never told him where I grew up,
