CHAPTER 42 >> It was really late by the time Leon came back from work. I had the whole day to think about my desires and how those fleshy temptations were impacting my decisions. I wanted my father’s best friend, and he’s mine now - at a heavy cost. The prices were lies to my father, uncertainty of both the future and present, and the danger of who we’re to each other. He’s been downstairs preparing dinner since he came back. He only came up into my room to announce his arrival and his plan to make a homemade meal for dinner; he’s been down there ever since.
