ANGELWhen I opened my eyes, a plain white ceiling was the first thing that greeted me. The familiar sterile scent lingered in the air, accompanied by the faint hum of machines nearby. My brows slowly knitted together as I stared blankly overhead, still trying to piece my thoughts together. Then, all at once, realization hit me.I was in a hospital.My eyes widened in terror. I immediately tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my body, forcing a pained whimper from me. Everything hurt. My head felt heavy, my muscles ached, and even the slightest movement made me uncomfortable.What happened? Why does my whole body ache?The door suddenly opened, and a nurse walked inside. She looked surprised to see me awake. Before she could say anything, fragments of memories suddenly flashed through my mind. My breathing immediately became uneven.“No…”I shook my head repeatedly as more memories came flooding back.

Chapter 32

GIDEONI rubbed my eyes as I slowly woke up. My brows furrowed when I realized I was in Amanda’s room. The sunlight filtering through the curtains made me squint as I sat up on the bed and tried to recall what happened last night.My memories were a complete mess. I must have blacked out.I let out a sigh and ran a hand through my hair. Amanda and I drank quite a lot last night. I knew I was drunk, but I didn’t think I had gotten drunk enough to completely lose memory of what happened afterward.Pushing the thoughts aside, I got out of bed and picked up my shirt from the floor. I always slept shirtless, and judging from where it landed, I probably threw it somewhere before passing out.I headed straight to the bathroom. After taking a shower and brushing my teeth, I finally stepped out of the room feeling a little more human.I immediately spotted Amanda sitting on the couch. A smile automatically spread across my lips.
