CIARA'S POV I woke up with Cain’s arm heavy across my waist, his palm resting low on my stomach like it belonged there. The sheets were twisted around our legs, and the new apartment still smelled like cardboard and fresh beginnings. Sunlight leaked through the half-hung curtains I’d fought him over yesterday. My body ached in the best way, sore from the way he’d taken me against the window seat and then again, slower, in our bed after we finally dragged ourselves out of the studio room. I shifted carefully. His grip tightened instantly, even in sleep. “Stay,” he mumbled against my shoulder, voice gravel-rough. “I’m not going anywhere.
