Lana's Pov.​I didn't sleep much. Every time I closed my eyes, I heard Jasper’s voice on the phone. It wasn't the voice I knew, I tried to tell myself I was wrong. Maybe the connection was bad. Maybe I heard it wrong. But the doubt was there now, like a tiny crack in a window.​I pushed those thoughts away and focused on the lab table. I had to work. It was the only thing that kept me from screaming.​I was looking at the samples I took from my father. The bitter smell of that herb was still stuck in my nose. I began to run tests on everything. Lana's POV The door creaked open slowly. I immediately looked, expecting the usual guard carrying my lunch tray. But the moment my eyes landed on the figure standing there, my entire body stiffened. It was Amelia. She stood elegantly at the entrance wearing a fitted dark dress, her blonde hair cascading over her shoulders like poison wrapped in silk. A wicked smile stretched across her lips.
