The aroma of roasted lamb, buttered vegetables, and fresh bread filled the room, but my stomach turned at the smell.Morning sickness had become unpredictable. I was silently praying I wouldn’t embarrass myself in front of everyone.Across from her sat Leo’s father. Even after retirement, the former Alpha carried an authority that demanded attention. His silver hair only added to his commanding presence, and his sharp blue eyes missed nothing.He smiled warmly at her.“Freya.”I looked up politely, Leo’s father smiled at me over his wine glass. “So, my dear. When are you giving me a grandson? The pack needs an heir and the elders are asking questions.”I laughed it off and tried to sound light. “It is too soon to think about that, father. We are focused on the election right now. There is a lot of work to do.”But he pressed further, he set his glass down.
