JAX'S POVThe cold stone floor was the first thing I felt. It pressed against my cheek, freezing and hard. When I tried to move my arms, a sharp, heavy *clank* echoed through the darkness.I was still chained.I blinked against the dim light, my head throbbing with a brutal ache. As my vision cleared, I realized I wasn’t in a normal prison. I had been moved to a massive, rusted iron cage right in the center of a giant room. The ceiling stretched high above me, lost in shadow, but I could make out the crumbling stone pillars of the old mountain monastery.I braced my boots against the floor and pulled against the chains, growling as the metal scraped my skin. I expected a guard to run over and hit me with a club. I expected them to yell at me to shut up, the way people usually treat a prisoner.But that didn't happen.Instead, three men dressed in long, dark robes stepped out of the shadows.
