After the first day I set my eyes on Makaira five years ago, I didn’t see her until the first day school resumed after the Christmas holiday. I had searched for her all through the holiday. My dad had invited some kids from my school to celebrate Christmas with us and so I automatically assumed that she was one of the kids. I should have found out more about her but she provoked so much emotions from me that I didn’t want to know anything. Not even her name. (KAIRA'S POV) Slade was being very cold and that's how I knew not to think anything of the so-called love boat ride. He was only doing it to annoy me, as usual. "You're the one who has been trying to get us to go home." I pointed out as we moved a step forward in the queue. "I can change my mind." He turned to me. "I like tunnels." "Well I don't." I said tightly. "And you know I don't like water either." "Yeah, you don't." I turned to him, annoyance bubbling within me. What was that tone? Is he still implying that I jumped into the pool yesterday to seek his attention? And at the lake house too? I turned my gaze back ahead and tightened my fists as we took another step forward. It was our turn now, the door was opened and we walked in. A dim, warm crimson lit room welcomed us with the accompaniment of soft vintage songs. Poems, drawings and inscriptions perfectly, neon-ly sprawled in shapes and sizes on the wall. It brought the boat faster to me because I had been captivated.
