How Does Loud Cloud MHA Affect Character Relationships?

The dynamic shifts completely, obviously, but what fascinates me is the fanon vs. canon potential. We know so little about Loud Cloud's actual personality beyond a few flashbacks, so writers project a ton. Is he the glue that would've kept Aizawa and Mic from their canon distance? Or would his survival have created a weird, strained trio where two people are bonded by a loss the third doesn't share? I've seen fics where a living Oboro accidentally becomes a wedge because he can't understand the severity they carry. It makes the relationships feel less like a solved puzzle and more like a ongoing, complicated negotiation, which is way more interesting to read than a simple happy ending.

Honestly, I've been rereading a bunch of Loud Cloud-centric fics lately, and the ripple effect on character relationships is kind of wild if you really lean into it. It's not just about him and Aizawa, though obviously that's the big one—'EraserMic' becomes 'EraserCloud' or whatever you want to call it, and that reshapes everything. Mic's entire presence in the story gets thrown off balance. He's either a grieving third wheel in flashbacks, a bitter rival for Aizawa's attention, or completely written out. That changes how Class 1-A interacts with their teacher, because a big part of Aizawa's hardness in canon is the loss; if Loud Cloud lived, does Aizawa stay in teaching? Is he softer? Less driven to protect his students to an extreme degree because his failure wasn't so absolute?

Then you've got the potential with Shirakumo's own personality. He was apparently loud, playful, a bit of a goofball—the opposite of Aizawa's sternness. Putting that energy into the UA faculty dynamic, or having him as an active pro-hero, creates a totally different mentor possibility for students like Kirishima or Kaminari who thrive on that bright enthusiasm. It also messes with the League's impact. If Oboro is there, does Kurogiri even exist? That severs a huge emotional connection for Shigaraki and alters the entire symbolic war between generations. The most interesting fics I've read don't even make it a straight fix-it; they explore the messy new problems a living Oboro creates, like professional jealousy, or Aizawa being a different, maybe less competent, person without that trauma to hone him.
