You might want to check out some dedicated Asian fanfic sites, though the language barrier can be tough. I stumbled onto a Korean site called '이글루스' (Egloos) ages ago through a link in a fanart post, and while I needed a translator, the depth some writers went into with the Lyn tribes' culture and history was insane. It felt less like fanfiction and more like anthropological speculation. For English stuff, SpaceBattles and Sufficient Velocity forums sometimes have quests or detailed discussions that spawn really intricate fics, though they're often crossovers with other Wuxia or Xianxia properties, which can get messy but also incredibly creative with the magic systems.

I can't believe we're still having this discussion when the Archive of Our Own tag for 'Blade & Soul' exists and is completely free of the weird restrictions other places have. It's the archive for a reason, you know? You can sort by kudos, filter out crossovers if that's not your thing, and the tagging system means you can actually find those dense, lore-heavy fics where someone's decided to expand the entire Hongmoon School backstory. I found one last year that was practically a thesis on the Stratus Empire's political structure, complete with original characters that didn't feel like self-inserts.
Sure, you have to wade through some shorter pieces, but the detailed ones are usually tagged as such. Wattpad and Fanfiction.net are okay for a quick read, but the really epic, chapter-after-chapter stuff tends to migrate to AO3 because the writers want the control over tags and series organization. Just set your word count filter high.

Honestly, my go-to has been Fanfiction.net for years. The interface is ancient, but that's where I found the first massive, novel-length 'Blade & Soul' fic I ever read—'Echoes of the Dark Legion,' I think it was called. The author had clearly played through every quest and it showed in the way they described the landscapes of Silverfrost. The community forums there are dead now, but the stories from the game's peak popularity are still up, and some are absolute gems for world-building. You just have to sort by reviews and be willing to dig a bit.

I wrote a long one myself and posted it on Quotev, of all places. The formatting lets you add pictures and music, which was perfect for setting the mood for different regions like the Bamboo Village or the bright, eerie Viridian Coast. It's a smaller community, so feedback was slow, but the people who read it were really into the lore. Found a few other authors there doing similar deep dives into the Four Guardians or the origins of Jinsoyun.

Looking for well-choreographed fights in 'Blade & Soul' fanfic is a specific craving I totally get. The official lore has such a fluid visual style, so finding fics that capture that kinetic energy in prose is tricky. A lot of authors on Archive of Our Own tag with 'Martial Arts' and 'Action', but the quality varies wildly.
I’ve found the most consistent results aren’t from searching the fandom tag directly, but by finding authors who are clearly practitioners or enthusiasts themselves. One writer, who I think does karate, describes footwork and breath control in a way that feels completely different from someone just writing 'he punched fast.' Their Jinsoyun vs. Jin Hazuki duel series had chapters that read like a fight scene storyboard. Wattpad can be hit or miss, but sometimes the passion projects there have a raw, descriptive intensity that polished writers miss.
It’s less about the platform and more about spotting the writers who treat the fight as its own character arc, not just filler between dialogue.
I keep noticing a really clear pattern in the 'Blade & Soul' fics I stumble across. Jinsoyun and Jin female protagonist seems to dominate a huge chunk of the content, especially on Archive of Our Own. There’s something about that student-mentor dynamic gone completely sideways that writers just can’t leave alone—the betrayal, the complicated legacy, the potential for redemption or darker revenge fantasies. It’s the central tragedy of the game, so it makes sense it fuels so many stories.
Beyond that, Yura and Soha have a massive following. Their established rivalry-with-history is basically a gift for slow-burn or enemies-to-lovers plots. I see a lot of authors filling in the gaps between their canon interactions, exploring what might have been before everything fell apart. It’s less about the main storyline and more about deepening the side characters in a way the game only hints at.
A pairing I find weirdly compelling but see less often is Gon and the Lyn player character. The contrast in size and personality opens up for some genuinely funny or unexpectedly sweet domestic fluff, a nice break from all the world-ending drama. I wish more people played with that dynamic. Most of the active fandom seems firmly camped in the Jinsoyun or Yura/Soha territories, though you’ll find the occasional Hazuki or Mushin-centric oddity if you dig deep enough.
