Eight Years Gone

Eight Years Gone

Eight years after running away pregnant, I found myself crossing paths with my ex-husband, Howard Quinn. His friends stared at me in surprise. "So, this is what you have become after leaving Howard? Reduced to a cleaner?" When I was six-months pregnant, I met with an accident. While I lay there, he was staying by the side of another woman, his so-called true love, in labor, never leaving her side. When I confronted him, in pieces, he looked at me bored and impatiently. "Don't be so jealous and petty. I have no time for you. As long as you behave, you'll always be Mrs. Quinn." I couldn't stand it any longer, so I ran away, staying away for eight long years. Now, those sharp eyes glared at me. "Have you had enough? If so, come home." What he didn't know was that my husband and daughter had already made dinner, waiting for me and my son to return home.

Read Between the Lies

Read Between the Lies

My family's company was on the brink of bankruptcy—its cash flow severed, the entire operation teetering on collapse. My fiancé, Andy Goor, was prepared to lend me money to keep things afloat. Just as I was about to say yes, a barrage of floating comments swept across my vision. [Don't agree—no matter what you do!] [The company's bankruptcy and cash flow crisis are all part of Andy's scheme!] [He's after your family's assets. If you accept, your whole family will end up sleeping under bridges for the rest of your lives!] [Your father will die after jumping off a building because he can't afford treatment. Your mother will be beaten to death by debt collectors. And you—you'll be sold into a nightclub. Just thinking about it is tragic!] A cold smile curved my lips. Without hesitation, I reached out and took the bank card Andy had sent over. Because in my previous life, I had believed those very comments and refused his help. After that, the company slid into bankruptcy, beyond saving. My parents were driven to their deaths, both forced to jump from buildings. And I was sold by creditors to an underground clinic, where my heart and kidneys were harvested before my body was dismembered. Only after I died, my soul drifting aimlessly, did I learn the truth—this had all been orchestrated by my so-called best friend, Chelsea Beatriz. Every single one of those comments had been fabricated by her. Disillusioned with me, Andy turned his investment to her company instead. She took my place—effortlessly stepping into my life—and married him. This time… everything I went through? Someone else gets to carry that weight now.

Twenty-Eight Days Too Late

Twenty-Eight Days Too Late

My daughter, Ruby Pratt, has leukemia. She needs a bone marrow transplant—and fast. Out of everyone in the family, my husband, Dan Pratt, was the only match. I begged him for an entire month before he finally agreed to go through with the donation. But on the morning of the surgery, he went completely off the grid. I stood outside the hospital all day, waiting. No calls. No texts. Not even a shadow. That night, his childhood friend, Valerie Kinder, posted on Instagram. In the photo, Dan was holding Valerie's hand with one arm and carrying her young son with the other—on a beach in Lulabo City. The caption read: [Soaking up the sun! Dan cleared his whole schedule to join us on a month-long trek and we finally made it to the coast! My little boy said Uncle Dan made his ocean dream come true. Pure joy!] My heart splintered. While I was drowning in worry over my daughter, he was off playing happy family with them. I wiped my tears and typed a comment beneath her post: [Not 'Uncle.' From now on, he's your son's father.] That night, I finally got a call from him. "Babe, don't be like this," Dan said. "You're not being fair. "Valerie's son has been bullied at school for not having a dad. I couldn't stand seeing him hurt, so I took them on this trip. It was supposed to help him heal. "I'll catch the first flight back tomorrow and head straight to the hospital to donate the marrow. I promise." I hung up with a bitter smile. The next morning, Dan rushed into the hospital room. But all he found on the bed was a death certificate.

George Orwell's '1984' is a classic that's been on my mind lately, especially with how eerily relevant its themes feel today. I totally get wanting to dive into it without breaking the bank. While I can't link directly, Project Gutenberg is a fantastic resource for public domain works, and '1984' might pop up there since its copyright status varies by country. Libraries often partner with apps like Libby or OverDrive too—your local branch card could unlock a free digital copy.

If you’re into audiobooks, sometimes platforms like Librivox offer volunteer-read versions. Just a heads-up: be cautious with random sites claiming 'free downloads'; they might be sketchy. I once found a legit PDF through my university’s library portal, so students might have hidden access! The hunt for books feels like a treasure chase sometimes, but it’s worth it for gems like this.

I can share some insights on where to find '1984' legally. Many public domain sites like Project Gutenberg don’t have it since Orwell’s works are still under copyright in most countries. However, some libraries offer digital loans through apps like Libby or OverDrive—just need a library card.

Alternatively, Open Library sometimes has borrowable copies. If you’re a student, check your school’s digital resources; universities often provide access to classics. While sketchy sites might pop up in searches, I avoid them due to malware risks and ethical concerns. Supporting authors (or their estates) matters, so consider affordable options like Kindle deals or used bookstores too.

It’s fascinating how '1984' has managed to remain relevant decades after its publication. If you’re looking to dive into Orwell's dystopian universe for free, there are a few places you might want to check out. Project Gutenberg is usually the go-to spot for classic literature, offering public domain works. However, since '1984' was published in 1949 and is still under copyright in many countries, you won't find it there. But hang tight!

Another fantastic resource is your local library’s digital services. Many libraries provide access to e-books through platforms like OverDrive or Libby. All you need is a library card, and you can borrow a digital copy. Sometimes, they even have audiobook versions available for a more immersive experience.

Social media and online forums can also be treasure troves of information. Be sure to check out communities on Reddit or book-themed Discord servers where fellow readers might have insights or even personal copies to share. You’d be surprised how willing people are to discuss such a critical work while recommending their favorite passages. Plus, engaging with others can enhance your overall experience, as themes from '1984' resonate in our current society. It’s like reading with a bunch of friends in a virtual setting!

Lastly, don’t overlook legitimate educational sites. Sometimes there are resources like Open Library or academic databases that might have it available in some form, especially for study purposes. Just make sure you’re downloading from a reputable source to avoid any issues. Happy reading! Or, should I say, be careful what you read—it could be revolutionary in your understanding of society!

Starting with '1984' can spark a lot of thoughtful discussions about freedom, privacy, and totalitarianism, which still feels incredibly pertinent today. Plus, it's a classic for a reason; digging into Orwell's themes may just prompt you to explore other works from that era or genre. There’s an entire world of literature waiting out there, so enjoy the journey!

Many public libraries also offer free digital loans through apps like Libby or OverDrive—just check if your local library has a partnership. If you’re a student, your school or university might provide access via databases like JSTOR. I’d also recommend looking into Open Library (openlibrary.org), which sometimes has legally borrowable digital copies. Always double-check the copyright status in your region, but there are plenty of ethical ways to enjoy this masterpiece.

Another great option is Open Library, which sometimes has borrowable copies. Project Gutenberg is a fantastic resource for public domain works, but since '1984' might still be under copyright in some regions, it's trickier. I often turn to Open Library, which offers free borrowing of digital copies without requiring immediate registration.

For a more direct approach, sites like PDF Drive or ManyBooks sometimes host classics like this. Always double-check the legality in your country, though. I can suggest a few places where you can legally read '1984' for free online. One of the best resources is Project Gutenberg, which offers a vast collection of public domain books. However, since '1984' is not in the public domain in all countries, you might need to check your local copyright laws. Another great option is your local library's digital lending service, like OverDrive or Libby, where you can borrow the ebook for free if they have it in their collection.

For those who prefer audiobooks, platforms like Librivox might have a free version, but again, availability depends on copyright status. If you're a student, your school or university might provide access through their digital library. I’ve been obsessed with dystopian novels like '1984' for years, and I totally get wanting to read it without spending a dime. While I respect authors' rights, there are legit ways to access it for free. Project Gutenberg is my go-to for classics, but since '1984' isn’t public domain yet, it’s not there. However, some libraries offer digital copies through apps like Libby or OverDrive—just need a library card. I’ve also stumbled upon PDFs uploaded by universities for educational purposes, but those can be hit or miss. Always check if the source is legal; pirated sites aren’t worth the risk.

If you’re into audiobooks, YouTube sometimes has full readings, though they might get taken down. Honestly, thrifting a used copy or borrowing from a friend is the most reliable way. The book’s so impactful that it’s worth owning anyway—I’ve reread my battered copy at least five times.
