She leaned back into her chair, as if distance was needed for whatever she was about to say.
“Gerard,” she said, voice softer—the softest I’ve ever heard. “You of all people should know that’s possible.”
My chest tightened, my muscles contracting.
“When someone becomes an omega, it rewires their brain,” she continued. “The brain chemistry. Instincts. Alpha pheremones that usually trigger aggression start triggering attraction.” Her eyes searched mine to be sure I was following. “There’s a reason Alphas clash with other Alphas, and omegas don’t.”
