Layobetrayed, then back for blood
His voice faltered, a strangled gasp cutting through his words as his knees buckled slightly.
I pushed myself to my feet, each movement screaming with pain, and cocked my head to the side. “Slow-acting wolfsbane,” I said, my voice flat, breaths fast. “You’ve got maybe fifteen minutes. Give or take.” I moved toward where my bag had fallen, never taking my eyes off him.
He stumbled again, one hand braced on the wall, the other clutching at his neck. “You bastard…”
I crouched, retrieved the antidote from my bag, and held it up between my fingers. “This? The antidote? It’s right here.”
