Coming from the infamous Busaba, it worked like a curse. “Lord Busaba…” One of them turned around but was stopped by Anubis. “You don’t deserve to look at my Lord.” “Turn around, yeah before I fuck your head off,” Apis growled low. Busaba sighed. “Guys, we may act like lunatics but don’t stoop so low. Their day will come if not soon, maybe later. Ignore them.” Anubis and Apis back down instantly and bent their heads, their gazes dropped to the ground.

At that moment, I knew with absolute certainty that the apocalypse had begun exactly as before. I wondered what their fate would be without me gathering supplies for them. No one seemed overly concerned, except for my mother, who worried that her precious grandson, Elio, would catch a cold. Athena and James were not particularly worried. It was only the first day of the apocalypse. The power grid was still functioning normally, so those two had the heat running and were sleeping together. Every night, James would wait until I was asleep and sneak off to Athena’s room.

Getting in the public transport vehicles was the real start of hell. On nearly every bus, elderly passengers were passing out. Once they fell, everyone else on the bus had nowhere to run. Some lucky ones made it to work, like the clothing store manager just now. They had their own cars or rode electric bikes and got there safely, only to find the doors closed. People started gathering in small groups, confused, when someone covered in blood stumbled toward them. This was the early apocalypse. Everyone who saw this assumed it was just a fight or an accident.

— Ira! the girl screeched. “I don’t want to end up in the next world ahead of time!” A little more, one step, and the girlfriends would have been under the wheels of a scheduled bus. The metal giant came to a halt with an ear-piercing creak, and from its window an avalanche of the driver's choice curses and the screams of passengers fell in an avalanche. They fell like dominoes, trying to grab onto each other in a panic.

I lifted my head to see what happened to Apocalypse. To my surprise was there a big hole in the ceiling and lots of debris and rubble mixed with wooden beams. I got up and walked over to what was over of the ceiling. I heard some groans coming from under the debris. Apocalypse was barely alive and stuck under big stone pieces and wooden beams. “You have to do better and more than this to stop me, you pathetic woman.” She coughed and spitted a clot of blood.

Scarlett was afraid that the aerial tormentors would whirl them aloft. Before anybody could contract pneumonia, two flashing lights came from the darkness. A bus came into the station. The head of their little group, a tall and strong man named Aaron, immediately stood up and walked towards the bus. After getting an affirmative answer from the driver, he ran over to ask everybody to get on the bus. *** “Are you afraid?” Alice asked Scarlett right after she was seated on the bus. “Afraid of what?” Scarlett did not understand what Alice’s question was referring to in precise terms.
