"They're being hunted." Swarming around the massive, crippled Crawler were shadows. They weren't the geometric, anti-matter Null-Sentinels. These were biological. Huge, heavily mutated predators born from the chaotic explosion of the Origin-Code. They looked like wolves, but they were the size of rhinos, their fur glowing with erratic pulses of blue sub-ether energy, their jaws lined with jagged, crystalline teeth. "Origin-Beasts," I whispered, the realization chilling my blood. "When I detonated the Void-Drive, the code rewrote the environment... but it rewrote the surviving wildlife, too. We accidentally created apex predators."

She succumbs and even holds onto me but that doesn't satisfy Aurora, who hasn't been able to feed in centuries. Even though Cassandra is willingly offering herself to me, it's not enough for the beast inside of me. I firmly hold Cassandra's head so that she has no chance of escaping me. I know this isn't for my benefit or satisfaction but I can't help but enjoy the euphoric feeling that comes with satisfying the soul of my dear friend, Aurora. It's somewhat addictive and I feel as though a deep neglected need inside of me is finally receiving the treatment it deserves. "Heaven." I hear Amelia's voice but the thing is, right now, I'm not exactly Heaven. "I think you have had enough."

The beast took another eerily silent step towards him— causing his body to betray him further as he began to try harder to curl into himself and away from the beast. "Hrmmmm...WHY DIDN'T YOU DINE ON YOUR KILL?....grrrrRRR!" The beast yelled at him in a questioning manner. He thought the question over before answering, trying to be careful in what he said. "I'm not an animal-- not a wild one at least....it felt...erhm...wrong. Taboo." He said shakily as he put his head up to face at least the beasts legs. "Hmm...I think yoU're JuSt scarrrEd to embRrrace what you arrrrrre...grrrr.."

I gawked at Arlo, “Arlo, please tell me everything you know about Alex's predators.” “Apex Predators are beings that occupy the highest position in power, strength, and abilities, making it the most feared and respected hunter. They possess abilities that surpass those of other supernatural creatures.” Arlo explained. “Other supernatural beings fear and respect an Apex Predator, often avoiding confrontations or showing deference. They can also adapt to various environments and situations, making them formidable opponents in any setting.” I nodded in understanding, “Thank you.” “Where's Gemma?” I asked calmly, trying not to think to avoid Arwan reading my thoughts.

The sky looms heavy and bruised, swirling with storm clouds that seem ready to collapse under their own weight – above the scorched ground littered with bodies of human and beasts twisted into grotesque shapes, their final moments frozen in agony. Blood mixes with the rain, turning the dirt into thick, crimson mud that clings to his feet. Kieran stands watching carnage beyond comprehension. In the center of this apocalyptic mess stands a lone figure. A man with shoulders squared against impossible odds. His stance is that of someone who's fought beyond exhaustion yet refuses to back down. Around him, creatures that defy description claw their way from a gaping wound in reality—an abyss throb

"These texts hold the key to unlocking the truth. We must study them diligently." Luna, her curiosity piqued, picked up a worn leather-bound book. "Look at this, it speaks of the Black Beast—a creature of immense power that was said to be capable of harnessing the corruption itself. Could this be the source of the darkness we face?" Hyperion nodded, his expression grave. "The Black Beast is a legend rooted in our ancient history. It is said that it possesses the ability to channel and control the corruption, using it as a weapon. If we are to understand and confront the corruption, we must comprehend the true nature of the Black Beast."

"I... who is this kind person who took him in? I might be able to convince him to take me in, too." All humour left Knox's eyes, and I almost took a step away from him just from how dangerous he looked. "I doubt he would," he said, his voice thick with hatred as he pulled out his left hand again. "The same person who took Valerian in... is the same person who did this to my hand, simply because I refused a duel, knowing what he could do." "What?" "Eros," he said, his voice low. "Eros Dionte, the worst monster of them all."

Building blocks spelling out words that would never be finished. The screams echoed through every room. Desperate pleas for mercy. Mothers trying to shield their babies. Fathers fighting hopeless battles against something they couldn't understand. Three hundred thousand people. Men, women, children. An entire bloodline wiped out in a single night of uncontrolled rage. And in the center of it all, a beast with silver eyes and claws like razors, tearing through anyone who crossed his path. The curse had taken him completely that night, turned him into something monstrous and unstoppable.

After I was done, I quickly returned to my hostel to open up my box of bottled water. This was the big surprise I prepared for everyone. I wanted to see if they could survive the apocalypse with whatever was in the box, which was more than twenty bottles of hot sauce.
