Jake They all hushed after Kari turned on music using her phone, their paint brushes coating the wall in a muted teal. Jake stayed close to Kari, making small talk here and there, loving the concentration on her face as she painted. He looked up as Drake walked in, the closest friend in Bar Harbor he’d made at the small gym where he’d spent many nights trying to purge the memories of Bethany from his mind. “Someone call for a help?” Drake stopped at the door, his hands on his hips as he looked around.

His pulse quickened. Whatever was stored on it had been hidden deliberately. Someone wanted him to find it. But only after he had already read the note. Ryan stared at the card for a long time. Questions raced through his mind. Who sent it? Why me? And what could possibly be on it? Outside, thunder rumbled in the distance as dark clouds slowly gathered over Miami.

Stumbling back, I crouched down, ready to attack, “What in the name of Loki are you doing? Go now before I change my mind and kick you, sorry little ass!” Arcane stood between us, blocking my view of her, and his eyes bored into mine. His fingertips had turned to long black talons, and almost black eyes focused only on me. Why the fucking hell did his beast interfere in this!?
