“Magister, why do we let garbage through the gates? Let me throw her to the stone giant and save us the paperwork.” I ignored him, but my left hand squeezed into a tight fist. My nails pressed hard into an old, ugly scar that hid my forbidden blood seal. It kept my real, dangerous ash-magic buried deep inside me. In this empire, that kind of magic meant death. It was the same power the lost Ash King used when he nearly burned the whole world a hundred years ago. “Put your hand on the stone,” Vane ordered. I stepped forward. My boots hit the hard ground, and I felt cold eyes burning into the back of my neck.

I dried my hands slowly, staring at the faint reflection of myself in the kitchen window. So what could I fix? What should I not bother trying to fix? Footsteps echoed from the hallway, announcing Susan's return. “I have returned,” She announced. I turned and paused at the familiar sight. She stood there in one of my oversized hoodies and a pair of shorts, her hair now loosely tied back, still damp. Ignoring Jinx's pleas and the urge to go to my mate I forced my legs to carry me to the lobby where Ash was. I spotted him leaning against the wall in the modern fancy lobby just menacing enough that people were giving him a wide berth. Ash didn't like people or crowds, he was more of a lone wolf in his life within our pack. I moved to meet him as he pushed off the wall and met me in a brotherly embrace. He immidiately began to sniff the air. Ash was a descent of the moon goddess, each had a gift. His older siblings had the power of fire and water. Ash had a super sensative sense of smell. He could scent anything even if it had been magically concealed.

Atasha said and tried to make the two that she was holding to calm down. “Sha-sha your child is twins!” Ally said in shock and immediately came to her so the others also came in disbelief. “Can I carry him Sha-sha?” Ally asked as she nodded and handed Aiden over. “Me too! His persona from serious, has molded into one of amusement, as his eyes gleam testily. "I'm aware of how much she could help, brother. That's not my point. This isn't the first time I've heard the name Sinful, but I'm going to listen to Death when she told me I don't want to know about him.

While my plan had officially been set in motion, tomorrow was the day I turned myself in. I could feel Asher's hand wrap around my submerged ankle, tugging it until I slid across the tub and into his arms. His sly smirk made me roll my eyes, though something else had grabbed my attention. The wound I had left on his neck was fully healed, revealing a beautiful mark. Cobalt blue in color, a crescent shaped moon with two small stars stood out on his skin. The mark was unique, as it was for all mated wolves. The color was not flat, but seemed to shimmer and deepen, reminding me of the night sky.

"Excuse me, but I need to use the men's room." Thelia nodded, giving Asher a knowing smile. Asher quickly made his way through the crowd towards the restroom, grateful for the temporary reprieve. As he navigated the dimly lit corridors, a strange sensation began to settle over him. His vision blurred slightly, and his head felt heavy. It was as if a thick haze had descended upon his senses, clouding his mind. He shook his head, trying to clear the fog that seemed to cling to him.
