A battlefield materialized around them. Fin launched from wolf form into human mid-air, gold armor forming around him before his boots hit dirt. The sword formed with his armor on the shift. Ashbane came at him wreathed in darkness, eyes black, hands full of magic that ate the light around it. They clashed in a blur of gold and dark. The vision accelerated through the fight until the final exchange. Fin deflected a blast of black magic with the blade, pivoted, and cut Ashbane's throat clean through. The body crumpled. Silence covered the field.

Ash’s POV The roar of the clubhouse hit me before I even turned off my engine. Laughter, shouts and the sound of bottles clinking rent the air and for a moment, I wonder how they could easily fall back into their normal lives less than twelve hours after an attack. It was chaos the way I remembered it, but somehow louder and more… non challant. Inside, the air was thick with smoke and sweat. A few brothers cheered when they saw me, others nodded, their eyes sharp, reading me like they weren’t sure what version of Ash had come back.

Ashely called out over her shoulder, now having the time of her life killing her most hated enemies alongside the man she loved. "You and I recall that Halloween very differently," James quipped, getting winded. While he was in excellent shape, he'd never had to fight a prolonged siege like this before and it was starting to wear on him. Paul had never fought one himself, but he’d seen the footage from the battles the others had had with them and knew what to do. He didn’t think they’d be too hard to take down since all one had to do was reach for the part of them that should be a neck. However, the bushes had some of his team members in compromising positions, and as he reached up to decapitate the misty creature floating near his head, he heard Becky let out a scream.

It was a tense moment as the two judged the other's movement. Asher was the first to attack: his throwing knives bounced off of Vaughan's gauntlet as he raised his fist to deflect them away from the vulnerable part of his neck. Asher then leapt backwards, dodging a misfired fireball just as it landed in-between Vaughan and himself. However, the two did not bother to see who had almost made charcoal out of them, neither wanted to allow any distractions to hinder their chances of victory against the other.

He trails off, unsure of how to phrase his thoughts and when Steve sits to face him on the chair, their thighs bumping together, Paul lifts his eyes to meet Steve’s concerned gaze. “What is it?” Steve says, his voice is soft as he takes Paul’s right hand in his own. “He looks happy,” Paul rasps, and his lids flutter to blink the tears away. “For the first time, he looks happy. Genuinely happy, Steve.” “Paul…” Steve scoots forward and he wraps his arms around Paul in a tight hug that the latter reciprocates. The guilt is palpable when Paul reminisces all the hurt and misery and unwarranted horror Asher had to undergo while his big brother was too weak to do anything, too cowardly to help.
