I flip onto my back and just float. The water holds me up, and I stare at the sky. It's that impossibly clear, perfect blue, the kind that makes your chest feel light. A few lazy white clouds drift by, like cotton candy someone spun and let go. The birds in the trees sound like they’re having a party, and the sun - Goddes, the sun is warm on my skin. It feels like a promise.

I took off for the wild yonder, gazing up at the Milky Way sprawled across the night sky. It was my son's dream. He was a stargazer, an astronomy buff since he was knee-high. On his birthday, he saw his first meteor shower in the wild. Tragically, that same night became his last. I was determined to make his dream come true. The detail was so exquisite I had to blink to remind myself they weren’t moving. My eyes drifted upward, and I gasped softly. Dusky clouds stretched across it, streaked in gentle purples and burnt oranges, mimicking the exact moment the sun kisses the earth goodbye. It looked so real, I half expected a bird to come soaring through it.

I miss that place, honestly. I closed my eyes, and created a vivid image in my mind. I feel like I know how to start. The color I need, green, light, dark, orange, white for the flowers. Light blue and Dark blue for the sky. Lily, it would be better if her dress was white with a little cream.
